Jenny is awesome. Went to another salon in NoHo and came out with nails so thick they looked like bubblegum stuck on my nails. I loved how Jenny's work turned out! So pretty. She convinced me to put glitter on my ring finger instead of going plain, which turned out lovely. I did have to take off my own nail polish and I was one of four people Jenny was working on. Pro tip: Jenny said Mondays are slow and you're more likely to book an appointment then. They get really busy as they are wildly understaffed and walk-ins have to wait a Very Long time, so book it a week or so before! I waited so long that Jenny gave me $10 off. It was quiet and the clientele are chatty and respectful, so I honestly didn't mind waiting. 100% will go back. read more

This place is incredibly inexpensive and way nicer than your typical NYC instant manicure place. $8 for a color change, $12 for a manicure, less than $40 for UV gels... the prices are great. They have some talented nail artists as well. Very efficient, pleasant manicurists, friendly place, amazing prices. read more

After four days, my gel manicure started to peel off from the cuticle area and I had to cut it off because it was dangling on my nail. My other nails are coming off as well. It doesn't last a whole week and it just feels like a waste of money. read more

I got a basic gel manicure. 25$ which seems to be the going rate around here. The manicurist was meticulous about applying the polish cleanly and evenly. My manicure lasted 3 weeks. The space was very basic, they had lots of gel colors to choose from, and they did a quality job. I would go back. Edit: went back. I had an different manicurist, an older lady. She was trying to be careful but there is gel on my skin on one nail, hopefully it won't peel up. Still, a good job overall. read more

Amherst Nails is the best nail salon in the Pioneer Valley! The ladies are very helpful and sweet both on the phone if you make an appointment, and in person during your appointment. I went here for the first time three weeks ago for a gel French manicure and to get my brows waxed. After three weeks my manicure hasn't chipped or budged at all - it's just grown out because of my natural nail growth, and I am going in tomorrow to get another gel manicure! They also did a great job on my brows, and gave me a discount price of only $8 for my eyebrow wax. Was looking to get my nails done after work one day and I was in the area so I yelped to see what was nearby. I decided to go to this nail salon and when I arrived, I was a little worried as it looked small and when I walked in and saw the nail techs were all busy I was afraid I'd be there all day. I decided to get a spa pedicure and a gel manicure. Despite being very busy, they got to me fairly quickly and was highly pleased with how my nails came out looking in the end. Don't get acrylics done here - they literally did them in 20 minutes with 1 coat acrylic. They were incredibly thin and thus all broke off the following week. The lady is nice, but they are way too rushed here - probably because there is only 2 workers that I have ever seen working there. read more

I got a full set here and had French painted on. It is normal to have the edges come away from the nail after a week or two, but this happened within two days of getting them done. One of them fully came off. In addition, the white on the nails started turning a yellowish collor. This has never happened when I have had the same thing done at a nail salon. The owner refused to fix them for me and was very rude when I inquired about having them fixed. They will not be getting my business any longer. read more

Just awful. First, I asked whether they had the color I'd chosen for my gel manicure available in regular polish for my pedicure. I was told "yes." But, in fact, that was not the case.... So, I ended up with mismatched nails. Ok, I can deal. But then the work on both my manicure and pedi was pretty poor. A little disappointed but overall a decent experience and a job well done with my nails. I was calling around places in Amherst to find the cheapest option to get a shellac manicure. All of the prices were about the same but I went with Amherst Nails because they were the friendliest over the phone and were very helpful. I got to the nail salon and I was greeted very nicely and everyone was friendly. I was a little taken aback about the door being left wide open and the lack of cleanliness in the salon and in the bathroom. While I was getting my pedicure, the water in the foot bath was cold. There were also flies around me the entire time, probably because the door was left open and it wasn't as clean as it could've been. The manicurist started cleaning and preparing my nails while i was getting my toes done, which made me feel like they were in a rush. When my pedicure was done, there was a large spot missed on my big toe for the second coat. My manicure came out flawlessly and the technician was very gentle and focused. They even noticed the spot on my foot at the end without me even having to say anything and fixed it. Overall, this place gives great service and they are very kind ladies. The cleanliness is definitely lacking as well as the attention to detail in some areas. Would probably go back, but also not against trying somewhere new! read more

Cannot recommend Amherst Nails AT ALL. The nail tech, Jenny, cut my toe during the pedicure, and I have a small wound. She never apologized or even acknowledged her mistake, although *I* asked if I was bleeding (she said "no" - which was incorrect). In addition, the hot towel she put on my legs was too hot and burned me for the first 2-3 seconds. The shop seems dirtier and more run down. I used to come here regularly during the summer, but no more. Pedicures are supposed to be relaxing, and mine was painful! read more

I got a gel mani. There were too many people and not enough staff. Two different women worked my nails and the whole experience was very rushed. My nails look messy and my cuticles were cut back too far. As nice and polite as the staff were here, I will not be coming back. read more

Yesterday was my third time going. The owner does nails really well. However, I got there and she took me right away, five mins later two girls walked in and now she was taking care of us three. She has two workers but they were busy with clients. Then two more came in and at no point was she turning anyone away. So, besides working on us three girls at the same time, she was going really fast, not taking her time. She pretty much took my gel polish off, filed my nails and was going to polish them...no cleaning, no getting rid off the dead skin, no massage and no attention to detail. When I told her to please file a nail that was crooked, she was annoyed and asked me what is crooked? And I had to show her. When I told her I wanted french she didn't seem to pleased telling me she had never seen white on clear white french...really?!? Anyway, I went with my gut, I asked her how much I owed her for the removal of my gel, she said $10...I paid and left...never going back. Her rudeness and lack of professionalism turned me off. My experience at the nail shop is horrible. For one they are too aggressive. They (Jenny) try to get you to get services you don't need and no matter how many times you say no they still try to push. Secondly, I went to the shop on 10/30/15 and today is 11/2/15 and my nails have started to peel. I had a fill in with gel nail polish(this nail polish is not supposed to peel) and never have i had them peel and I've been getting gel nail polish for a while now in Baltimore. I"m telling you that this is the biggest waste of $31 I've ever had. Now I have to go and get them re-polished and spend more money. What a BIG disappointment. I really enjoyed my experience here! I walked in the door and was immediately greeted and requested a pedicure. The ladies working there were extremely friendly and personable even while struggling to structure their sentences in English properly. They are still running a business, and I had more than a few "no, thank you"s when asked if I wanted a manicure also. Everything looked and felt very clean and up-to-date, if you will. Just a bit more expensive than I'm used to ($20 in SoCal vs. $25 here), but it was my first pedicure since moving out here. Will definitely come back again! read more

One of the worst gel manicures I have ever gotten. The technician filed my nails for a minute or so, without asking what shape I wanted and I had to tell him I wanted square so he would keep filing since there were all crooked and uneven. Barely cleaned my cuticles and didn't clean under my nails at all. The tools also didn't seem very sanitary and were just sitting on the desk and wiped off before used. No hand massage and the gel manicure cost $25 which is an okay price. The day after I got my nails done one of them already chipped and it's supposed to last for at least two weeks. Do not go here. The prices are low but you get absolutely nothing above what you pay for. Manicure was $12. I was asked to take off my own polish, she cut my nails unevenly, and rushed through (there are spots where she missed and spots on my skin she painted). She only worked on my nails for a total of three minutes and sent me off to drying (which was a small machine that barely blew air) when the bottle clearly said BLACKLIGHT DRYING. I had to ask her 30 minutes later if she could check to see if they were dry and she was indignant I had even asked for the courtesy. To top it all off, as I was leaving, I noticed she was using the same cuticle cutters she had used on me with someone else and I KNOW she did not clean them. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I had the absolute worst nail experience of my life at this place. I called ahead of time to make an appointment and they weren't prepared at all when I got there. They made me TAKE OFF MY OWN NAIL POLISH and I had to move chairs 4 times. For a "manicure" they put a bowl of water with marbles in my lap for me to balance and put my hand in. No lotion. They didn't even clip or file my nails. All the nail polish was old and crusty looking and the place itself was a mess. My friend and I were so unhappy we decided to just leave before picking a polish and they made us pay $12 for our supposed "manicure". The only reason I'm giving a 3 out of 5 (and not just 2 stars) is because my shellac polish lasted for weeks, and I loved the unique purple/pink color I chose. HOWEVER, I've never been to a nail salon where they made me take off my own nail polish. First, I soaked my fingers in the bowls, then I was shocked when she gave me a tool to scrape off my old shellac polish. Really? I went there to relax! When it came time to pay, I said I believed she charged me more money than she quoted me and she said it's $5 more because she had to take off my polish! CROOK, I TOOK OFF MY OWN POLISH. The environment is not so nice, but that isn't the real issue with Amherst Nails. They only had four employees working at once. and the whole experience did feel pretty rushed. I came for a pedicure and manicure. For the pedicure, they charged $5 extra for skin removal, which I have never seen a nail salon do before. They did my manicure while my toes were being painted, so someone was basically standing next to me and alternating from side to side to finish my fingernails. That was sort of annoying, because it made me feel like they were just trying to get me out of there, and when I went to pay on the way out, I had wet nails. Other salons I've been to have you pay before the manicure. The lighting was very dim, and I think thats part of the reason my nails turned out so badly. There was polish remaining from when I came in that they did not fully remove, my cuticles weren't trimmed completely, and they painted way over onto my skin on many of my nails. I had to actually touch it up when I got home. My toes were done so badly that I had to return the next day to get the polish re-done, and even though I had an appointment, I ended up having to wait for 50 minutes. The women who work there are very sweet, but it was an overall negative experience for me. Not nearly worth the $40 i paid! read more
