The worst experience I have ever had it is mass produced slop my taco looked like an​ abortion I would rather have been tossed of a bridge.

Amigos is a Nice Cosy setting with a good Mexican themed experience. food/drinks and not bad pricing. I would recommend people to go there for a Family night out. A little crammy though. read more

It's Amigos. It's a local institution. And it has evolved from 80s Tex Mex into bringing hipster Mexican-fusion onto the menu. I would highly recommend eating in rather than getting takeaway for a few reasons. - the wait-staff are sweeties. - it's a festive space - the drinks are fruity and fun - you really don't get many chips with your dips. If you eat in, you get top-ups. The food has always been expensive, especially by Wollongong standards, and like everything but our wages, the prices are gradually going up. But it's hearty, comfort food, not too creative, but sometimes that's what you want. read more

I really wanted to give Amigos more stars though unfortunately a few things were amiss. I pre-booked a table for 2 at 8.30pm Australia Day Eve. Inside the restaurant most of the tables were full and I realised they were also seating people outside at the back of the restaurant (this place is HUGE - great for big groups). Our waiter was at our table almost immediately and took our drink orders, with food orders soon to follow. Our cocktails came out in a timely fashion though my boyfriends classic margarita was overpowered by lemon juice and as he is a massive margarita man he was quite disappointed with the flavours. From that point on service was seriously lacking and we probably waited 30-40 minutes for our mains - pork burrito bowl and steak fajitas (no entrees this time round). Luckily the food here is fresh, tasty and the serving sizes are biiig. We ordered another drink (Corona) but it never came and the waiter only remembered as we had finished and were asking for the bill. I also saw a cockroach on the wall which made me feel weird. 2 cocktails and 2 mains set us back $80. Great food, mediocre service and a good atmosphere minus the insects. read more

One of the best Mexican in Wollongong! The food is amazing and the drinks are great too! I've never been able to finish a main by myself so what I would reckon is to have a main and an entree between two! As for drinks, nothing beats the Sangria. Price wise, it is on the higher side in terms of food in Wollongong, but the quality and portion size reflects this. Also on Tuesday nights, they have cheap tacos. You can get three tacos (Chicken, Beef, Pork or one of each) for $10. Best to make a reservation as they are usually busy. read more

Over priced microwaved food. Poor quality. Ordered the 'baja plate'. It came out incredibly quickly (like too quickly). It was greasy, oily and poorly put together. The chicken was a mixture of luke warm and cold and clearly microwaved and poorly at that. The shredded beef was tasty but that didn't make up for it. Disappointing. Would not recommend. read more

Thought I would give it another try after feeling much the same a year ago. To start, Jalopeno margarita zero flavour, I think it was a regular (very ordinary) margarita with a slice of Jalopeno on top! Second, what Mexican restaurant serves guacamole dip for $18 which is prepared in a blender, again zero flavour or texture ( I'm sure they forgot to add at least lemon) with store bought Nacho chips. Finally, served us wrong mains (never came back to ask) wings cold with wrong sauce. read more

Taco Tuesday, Host very friendly & welcoming, accommodate for single diners, seated quickly & comfortably upstairs. Friendly & attentive waiters & waitress', accommodated for a special request, asked how meal was in a timely manner, answered questions on the drinks (how I found out what the house Tequila was). Food & drinks came out in a very reasonable time, especially considering how busy they are on Taco nights. Best advice given by the host/waiter: the soft flour tortillas are better, over choosing the soft corn, as they don't break up as much. He was right, & the soft corn tasted a bit bland. Pulled-pork was the tastiest of the different flavoured Taco's, followed closely by shredded beef, chicken & frijoles (beans tasted a bit bland though); also had just the right amount of filling (lettuce,salsa, cheese). Cheap tuesday, $3 tacos, $3 Rio Bravo beer cans, & $3 shots El Jimadore Tequila; extremely reasonable considering how much a bottle costs. My personal advice with the Rio Bravo is suck a little on the lime before you take a sip, treat it like a corona waitress advised. They have tip-adjust on their card facility & a cool treasure box for their well-earned booty too. A 5-10% tip (comparable 10-20% tip in U.S.) is nothing compared to the friendly service, & value for money this more than affordable dive bar offers, & I mean that in an endearing way :) read more
