Ang sarap ng pagkain dito! My family came visiting Calgary for the first time. We've been here for a week, and today we were looking for a nice Filipino restaurant to eat at to end our trip right. Amihan Grill did not disappoint! The service is great and the ambiance is very cozy; They have great music playing while you enjoy your meal. I highly recommend the Kare Kare Everything was delicious!

We were looking for an inbetween meal and chanced upon this place. We ordered several dishes but were wowed by their take on the sisig as well as the melt in your mouth fresh chick-charron. We followed up the next day with the same order, on our way to our next destination on our trip. I think the only con is ordering from the register.

    Spicy sisig, pancit bihon

This was by far the best Filipino food that I have had in years. Coming in from San Diego and coming from a Filipino family, my standards for sisig are INCREDIBLY high and this experience was far beyond any expectations I had. I had the spicy Sisig over regular steamed rice with an egg and every bite was perfectly balanced with tender pieces of pork belly, the right amount of spice, and a perfectly runny egg. We also had the pancit bihon which was very good as well. The level of garlic was an unexpected surprise and gave the dish a depth that I am not usually accustomed to from my normal go to spot at home.

It's our first time here in Calgary for a vacay and as a filipino who's looking for a very familiar taste like home, this place didn't disappoint! We loved their food! The beef mami tastes absolutely amazing however, the garlic may have been overcooked that made the soup a little bitter but overall it's really good. We also enjoyed some serving of filipino street food that hits the right spot since we haven't had it in years topped with a to-go of sylvanas which we devoured them in the hotel.

We visited Amihan Restaurant and Bakery last Sunday for my Dad's birthday party. It is very family friendly and the service is great! We ordered 2 of each as we had a big group - appetizer platter, chicken inasal, lumpia, liempo, 2 types of pancit, egg drop soup, ube cake, sisig, and many more! Everything was tasty and now I know a place where I can purchase really good Filipino food and great also Filipino baked goods! We had so much left over as their servings were pretty big. After the lunch I decided to purchase their sansrival cake slice, pandas cake slice, and meringue lollipop- all were super yum! The baked goods were fresh and the not dry at all. Definitely recommending it to friends and family that are craving quality Filipino Food or have not tried Filipino Food before and want to try it out.

One, two and three item combos are all available which include your choice of meat dishes plus steamed rice. In addition to these mains, Pinoy also offers a variety of Filipino desserts (word of warning, though, the desserts have no English, so you'll have to ask if you are not familiar with this cuisine). On this visit, I tried the Adobo chicken which came in a soy sauce based savory broth and a pork dish in a sweeter sauce. Both meats were on the bone, which resulted in super tender cuts. For a two item combo, the price comes to $10 even with tax.

Everything had been stewed for a long time and the flavour had soaked into the meat. The pork menudo was especially flavourful with a tomato and green pepper based sauce. They seemed to have a lot of other interesting authentic filipino dishes to try. Don't be frightened of them using whole animal cooking. There are different parts of a chicken all cut up into one dish (no organs though), which I think is awesome because chicken breast can be pretty dry and boring. They also had a bitter melon dish so be careful about that! They've got guts to serve bitter melon. To me, it shows a commitment to their cuisine.

I guess they have karaoke every night and on Sundays there is a dance teacher that comes in to teach whomever so brave how to do the Salsa. You pay simply 5 dollars, have something to eat and learn the ways that your body can or cannot move. MFGAP has tons of crowd pleasing tricks up its sleeve; they have celebrity Filipino guests coming in to perform for their cliental this February 11th to commemorate Valentine's Day. Tickets are on sale for $30 and this is for a 5 course meal. The owners seem to be a husband and wife team and they are both friendly and inspired and if I am not mistaken their father is the cook. The place is a big space, complete with dance floor, disco lights and an obviously very loud sound system. Their menu is East meets West, they want to appeal to the non- Filipino crowd as well, but they do serve up traditional delights like Pansit, Adobo, and Fried Fish. You can even have your private birthday celebration here as well, depending on how many courses, you can have a package deal that includes a bottomless pop beverage and sing to your heart's content.
