We met Amin at a Bridal show in New Orleans. After signing up for a contest, we received a notification stating that we won a free engagement shoot, which included 1 free print. We had a consultation for the engagement shoot, which included a consultation for wedding services (at the time we were looking to hire a videographer/photographer). Amin was adamant about skipping the free engagement session and adding it into our wedding package which would give us an additional 2 hours of coverage (since the engagement shoot is 2 hours as a stand alone service). He also asked us to prepare at least 3 outfits to change into. After reviewing the quote for the wedding services, we told Amin that we needed some time to make a decision. We then started to receive miscellaneous emails pressuring us to book his services at a discount. The emails were endless, and came from 2-3 different emails addresses. Some emails didn't pertain to us at all and the confusion became overwhelming. Out of frustration, as a new bride to be, I told my partner that I wasn't comfortable with booking someone who seemed so forceful and unorganized. By unorganized I mean the following. He would send repetitive emails asking us to book our consultation. However, we had already had a phone consultation weeks prior. I reached out to Amin informing him that we wouldn't be moving forward with wedding services, but we would like to continue moving forward with the free engagement session. Suddenly, the email stopped. I then reached out to see what we needed to do to schedule the free engagement shoot and how to prepare. Amin emailed me a few days later asking for dates/ times, locations and to create a vision board on Pinterest. We're not from New Orleans, so I asked for suggestions on locations, in which he provided. I did everything he asked of me and a few days later, I sent an email with dates and times as we discussed. He CONFIRMED and from that point forward there was no communication. Two weeks prior to the event, my partner reached out to Amin for additional confirmation. Amin told my partner that he never received a date, time or location from me. I forwarded the emails to Amin where he confirmed the date, time and receipt of our Pinterest board. I also told him the location (NOMA) which was his suggestion. He didn't respond to me for a few days. About a week prior to our shoot, we received an email with the date, no time, and location listed as City Park. NOMA (the museum) is located in City Park so I thought nothing of it. Realizing that the newest email didn't list the original agreed upon time, I asked if we could change it from 2pm (which is what he confirmed then said he never heard from me about a time) to 4pm. Amin confirmed and I thought we were all set. The day of, we get to City Park at the museum ( NOMA) then called him because he was no where to be found. He told me he was at Cafe Du Mondè, which is not what we discussed. Again, we aren't from the area, so it took us about 10 minutes to find his location. We pull up, and there's a huge gazebo, a playground and a lot of grassy areas. Let me not forget to mention, there were a ton of people, kids and dogs in the area. This didn't align with our agreed upon vision therefore, we weren't dressed casually and there was a current high wind advisory for that area. At that time, I told my partner that I didn't want to continue with the shoot. My partner had to walk the park and find Amin and by the time he was found, it was about 20 minutes past our shoot time. My partner asked what the mix up was and Amin stated that NOMA had to be paid for and we had to do a lot of walking because we only had 20 minutes left, since we were "late". When my partner confronted Amin about the time, he stated that we were only receiving 1 hour. I would like to add that NOMA is free on Wednesdays to anyone with a LA state license. I would also like to add that Amin never gave a clear indication that he would be anywhere else besides NOMA which is in City Park. Amin didn't communicate his location or that he wouldn't be meeting us at NOMA until we called him because we couldn't find him at NOMA. We are out of hundreds of dollars in preparation for this shoot and now we have to find someone else at the last minute. Amin is unorganized, rude, lacks communication in the areas that are relevant and specific to his clients (too many unnecessary automated emails), inconsiderate, irresponsible and lacks compassion. Everyone who gave Amin a 1 star review and labeled him as a scammer has been absolutely correct and I wish I would've read the reviews prior to communicating with him. read more

I actually discovered Amin on Thumbtack, requesting more information because I was interested in a photo shoot to mark my 50th birthday. From the first meeting to the final meeting post-portrait, he was very professional, personable and attentive. He listened to my vision of what I wanted for my photo shoot and made it happen. Won the free engagement shoot, couldn't get the all of the pictures unless you purchased the most expensive package which was $1700 if not more. You only got to see the pictures DURING the video call, I haven't seen our photos since. Thankfully, only time was wasted (which is still valuable), but he will never ever get a dime. Unprofessional is the nicest way to put this. A complete scam artist. He has poor communication skills. He doesn't answer phone calls or emails. He doesn't like for you to answer questions. He will take your photos and have you pay for them and the quit. He thinks he can talk to you any kind of way and not show you an oz of respect. When you confront him is little ego gets hurt like a child. At the end of the day I am a strong believer in you never know what someone is going through, but to be a business owner with such nasty ways and be so unprofessional is top tier crap. After winning a contest photoshoot with him, I would tell no one to enter his contest or hire him. After taking the photos, he then sends you the photos packages and tells you, you have one hour to view your photos and till midnight to order any or the price goes up. He tries to intimidate and force clients into buying from him and making quick decisions. But God is good and things happen for a reason! Brides, Grooms, and couples don't get scammed and disrespected by this photographer take my advice and find someone else. Before getting scammed and disrespected. Finally getting around to writing all of my wedding reviews. Like a couple other people have said: he's a SCAM artist. First he calls and says you've won a free shoot (I've seen other businesses do this as a way of sharing their work/spreading their name) and that you'll just have to pay for the prints. I was fine with this, so we used him as opposed to our wedding photographer for our engagement shoot. The shoot went well and he was nice and professional throughout that. He then set up a zoom meeting for us to go over the images and choose what to purchase. Zoom meeting was set for 6 PM and we pushed it back a bit because he was running late, perfectly fine. At around 6:30 we started the process of reviewing 200+ images, giving simple 'yes' or 'no's. After an hour of that, he asks us to choose from his packages. I stated that I only wanted to purchase the digital images as I don't hang up portraits in my house and don't have use for the books/prints/etc. He informs me the digital prints ONLY come with his most expensive package ($1200) that also includes giant canvas and acrylic portraits, a book, and an app. I didn't want any of that and asked if I could add the digital images to a smaller package (to be clear I expected to pay at least a couple hundred dollars for the digitals) and he tells me it's not possible. Essentially, the only way to have anything more than physical prints of a handful of your engagement pictures is to spent $1200. I told him I'd need time to think about what pictures I wanted and where I could put such large prints before I picked the pictures and he told me I had 1 hour to decide because he "goes to bed early" and the deal would be expiring that night. NEVER mentioned this before. I had to choose between completely re-taking pictures in the Louisiana summer or coughing up $1200 for pictures that I didn't even love. It took a lot of moving schedules around to even do the first shoot, so we decided just to pay for the biggest package and we could give all of the stuff away to parents, grandparents etc. I was nice via communication for fear that if I wasn't he wouldn't give me the pictures at all. After MONTHS when he was finally ready to deliver the products, he told me I'd have to drive to the northshore to get them or pay $100 to have them shipped to me because all of the random stuff no one wants weighed so much. All of the dumb extras (huge, thick acrylic print, huge canvas print, book, app, "Amin Russell Photography" flash drive) sit unused in my storage room. DO NOT book with this man. read more

There are not enough positive, true, encouraging words I can type to really represent the talent of this artist. I am still in awe that one man was able to capture as many moments as he did to help tell a story for us to remember the day we became one. The customer service, professionalism, explanations and promptness displayed by NYT was one of the best experiences I've ever had. There were a lot of things to worry about but our pictures weren't one of them. Give this vendor a try and you'll enjoy every moment. read more

This photographer was paid in advance to photograph our wedding, but we never received any photos. At first he was communicative, but eventually all communication stopped and we worried that we would never receive our photos. To this day we do not have one professional photograph from our wedding. Do yourself a favor and go with a different photographer even if it costs more. We thought we were saving ourselves money by going with someone who was less expensive and seemed professional, but it turned out to be just an act. This guy is a morally indecent person for not providing our photographs after he was paid. This photographer is a thief- not only did he take our money but he took something from us that was priceless. It's devastating to not have photos from such an important day, a day that you can't get back. We've reached the point where we just want our pictures back, but he won't even do that for us! Beware!!
