This store is really one of the best kept secrets in Pinellas county! Why a secret? Because it is hidden away from the main traffic on West Bay drive, just two blocks South on 13th street. I can't express enough great things about this place, but their deli is the showstopper here. Their signature "Rumspringer" sandwich is unique and truly amazing, with dried beef, turkey, bacon, cole slaw, and a creamy whole-grain mustard-based sauce, then pressed. Tasty and addictive! The deli also has Cooper sharp cheese, which makes the best grilled cheese you may ever have! They also have freshly-sliced "dried beef" which makes the best chipped beef over toast, ever! Combine these rare deli treats with all of their other unusual and offbeat Amish items, and this store is a true joy of a destination for those that appreciate distinctive culinary treasures. Did y'all know we have an Amish market in our backyard?! I stumbled upon the The Amish Country Store (Largo) and had to try the "Rumspringer Sandwich". It was amazeballs!! One of the best sandwiches I've ever had! Note to staff, as a sandwich artist, it is important to evenly distribute all sandwich ingredients to the edges of the bread. This Reuben had the majority of the ingredients piled in the middle, which left the edges dry. I rearranged myself, and it was tasty. The shop itself was stocked full of non-perishable, goods, jelly's, sauces, desserts, and lots of different sodas. We got some scrapple and fresh sausages to take home, along with their dry beef, which was on the Rumspringer and delicious! Potato salad was a little bland, but delicious. It did look homemade and could use some extra seasoning. I do wish they had more homemade foods and I started dreaming how I'd love a little place like this. My mother took me to this little place. Yes you don't know if there unless you're actually going down a side street. I support small businesses 100% but what I don't support is price gouging. I've been to Amish country. I know what prices are for true authentic Amish food if you're willing to pay 3 to 4 times more than what you would've actual Amish country then by all means go support him, but I will never go back because I'm not spending my money on something. I can take a drive to and support them and not pay an arm and a leg for some cheese or some chips. I mean $10 for a bag of chips really. This is what gives small business owners a bad name is places like this that think they can overcharge people three and four times the amount that's not that's not good business and that's not how small business should be ran. read more

This place is muzzled a little down the road, on a side road. Once you're near it though, it is very easy to spot because it's the only place like this in the area. Parking is meh so if it's busy, it'll be difficult to find a spot. Upon entering you'll notice it is a very small place, but they made an addition and the rest of thr store is located in the back where you can find a deli counter that sells different items, as well as some amazing sandwiches. Some of the boxed items they sell are a little over priced so that, and the parking are the reason I'm knocking off a star. The stuff is ridiculously friendly and they offer samples of their items, one of which is the home made chicken salad which is to die for! This store also sells many different random items and food/drinks. They sell many different antique looking items, all decent priced but a few you could find the item, new, for cheaper. Some items looked a bit grungy so I wouldn't even spend money on it honestly. The candies they sell are cool, some of which I've never seen before, such as the deviled egg, which is designed to look exactly like that, but made out of white chocolate! Sorry no picture, but that Rumspringa sandwich was gone before I knew it. Had purposefully avoided sandwiches with coleslaw on it my whole life. But the Rumpspringa only comes one way, no changes allowed, and they are not wrong. It is freaking delicious. And whatever that special sauce is? Yes please! I think it might be some form of mild whole grain mustard sauce possibly with a dash of garlic. The Amish Country store is kind of a hidden gem. We had only heard about the store from our friends but never bothered to check it out until now because, frankly, we didn't know where it was! Finding it is a little bit of an adventure in itself. You have to drive past the Largo hospital and soon you'll see something that looks like a little shack surrounded by trees. After getting inside the store, however, you'll feel homey and very unlike a big store like Publix. The store is small but has all kinds of Amish made goods. You have your selection of pancake mixes, spices, jams, and all kinds of things in jars. The only disappointment for us was that there wasn't anything that looked like it was made locally or from Florida. Almost everything was from OH and PA which is understandable as that's where the hub of Amish folks is. Asides from selling goods, and similar to many other Amish stores, this place also has an awesome deli area. You can get any kind of sandwich with all types of meats and cheeses. We decided to go for their signature sandwich called The Rumspringer. The sandwich came with: dried beef, turkey, bacon, cheese, onion, cole slaw, all packed inside a big ciabatta roll. They also put their "secret sauce" on top and hot press the whole thing. It is a bit on the pricey side at around $10 but man was it filling and satisfying! All in all...we had a fun outing at the Amish Country Store. I don't know how often we'll be back to shop here but we'll be back for their tasty sandwiches. read more

It's a small store in a residental area. It's basically a small house that was turned into a store. You have to park on the street. There isn't a parking lot. it has a nice selection of food items. You can get mixes (pancakes, shoefly pie, etc), canned items, a variety of sweets, pastas, pickled eggs/beets/corn, mustards, different jellies, and more. There are a few non-edibles items to purchase as well. They have a deli in the back of the store with a meats and cheeses and do sell some bread. Friendly staff. Fun place to stop by and check out. Been working my way through the sandwiches they make and I love the Cuban, the Turkey Focaccia is a close second! And you can't have a delicious sandwich without a cold drink! Cheerwine, Stewart's Black Cherry, Moneybags Gingerale, and Nehi Orange have become my favorite glass bottle sodas. This is a cute little store that has a sandwich bar in the back. I ordered the Cuban sandwich (comes as is) I don't like pickles so pulled mine out. The sub was pretty good, I have had other sandwiches here and have yet to be disappointed. The service is pretty amazing and feel very homey and quaint. They sell other items in the store as well. Great little find! This is a cute little market full of Amish favorites and a deli in the back to buy meats & cheeses by the pound, or have sandwiches made fresh! They also have a cooler of ready made "grab & go" home cooked favorites to take home. You can find meatloaf, chicken noodle soup and Amish potato salad (only to name a few). Cute little market a bit off the main drag of West Bay but easy to find once you get the street right. Right off 13th St. across from Diagnostic Clinic. I went around 1 o'clock on a Friday and there was plenty of street parking. Old fashioned country store in a small old house with a little sprinkling of antiques and meandering aisles that invite you to wander. The folks are not Amish, but they import Amish goods from Pennsylvania & Ohio. They also feature local bakeries and other local fare. Depending on the area of the country you're from, you may see some familiar items (Squirt Soda and Utz Chips!), but you're also sure to see some that you've never seen before. In addition to the groceries They offer freshly made sandwiches and entrées to take home. Some items are a little pricey (I confess I paid way too much - $15 - for 2 1/2 pounds of Amish rolled butter, but hey, this is BUTTER we're taking about here and who can put a price on that?!), but the deli sandwiches and side dishes are delicious and very reasonably priced, including a take-home-and-heat homemade shepherds pie for $10.95. One final word of advice - if you don't try anything else you must have the Rumslinger sandwich $5.95). Just have it. Seriously. Get the sandwich. I'm not kidding. read more

This is a question, not a review....I have tried to find a butter dish big enough to accommodate the two pound roll of Amish butter (the most delicious butter there is!). I cannot find a dish, none is big enough! I have looked in Amazon, Google, Etsy, the Duck Duck Go search engine. Nowhere to be found! There are dishes for regular butter, or European butter 8 oz. blocks like Plugra, but none big enough for Amish butter! Why? Where can I find a dish for Amish butter? Why doesn't anybody seem interested in designing a dish for Amish butter? So delicious! This is a shame! read more

Ok, so I'm a little bit late with this review, I actually visited there the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but as we all know, life gets hectic so sorry for the late review. To begin with, this place is very small but that just adds to the charm of the place and it's located on a small side street so it's one of those places you need to actively seek out, you won't just be driving by and happen to see it. When you first walk in, there's a small area with different varieties of sodas and chips, and that's also the real me go do 2 pay for goods and pick up for whatever sandwiches he might have ordered. He's then going to a small room which has things like old cast iron skillets and knick-knacks for the house. The room in the back also has things like chips, more sodas, and the deli counter where you can order one of their delicious sandwiches. The hardest part was deciding which one, but I finally went with the Rumslinger since it was highly recommended by the staff there, and believe me it did not disappoint! It was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten, and I find myself craving another one which really stinks because I live 4 hours away from this place!! The sandwich consisted of dried beef, (which I never had before it was pretty damn good), sliced turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, coleslaw, and onion, all piled between delicious ciabatta bread, and then warmed. The flavors blended so well, and ooey, gooey cheddar cheese added a nice sharp flavor to it. I enjoyed it with a nice bottle of Birch Beer, making for a perfect lunch. The sandwich is big enough to split with someone, but personally I would say to stash the other half away save it for yourself for later, believe me, you're not going to want to share this one!! The only reason I took away one star is because I thought the price point was a little on the expensive side even taking into consideration shipping charges they might incur from having some of their products shipped. Another hidden gem in Largo. The Amish Country Store. This store is WELL hidden too. Largo Medical Center is on 14st SW, this store is just east on 13th st SW. They even recommend that you call for directions. My wife has raved about this place as a great stop to get takeout lunches. She was so right. But this store is so much more. It's like you stepped into the 1920's or 30's country store. Shelves lined with containers and bags of candy. Turn the corner and there are heavy pots and pans for sale. Enter into the back room.....you are now in a Pennsylvania Dutch grocery store. Brand names I've never heard of, but if you're from Pennsylvania, you will feel at home here. The meat case will make your mouth water. A great variety of deli meats, Amish and specialty cheeses. Scrapple, sausages, bacon, hot dogs, ring bologna to name a few. Their sandwiches are made fresh to order deli style with Pennsylvania Dutch luncheon meats & cheeses. All sandwiches are served with green olives and wrapped for takeout. On this day they offered a special roast beef sandwich. When I arrived home I was surprised to find it warm. It was more like a pot roast sandwich with incredible flavor, it was wonderful! They also have a variety of freshly made salads and soups. Their hot specials change from day to day. On this day it was meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Interesting is probably the best word I could use for this place. I'm born and raised in PA and several of our bucket list items before​ moving to Florida were foods from "Dutch Country"; so when someone told me about them this week, I made a beeline​ here. It is tucked away off the main drag behind the medical center in an old craftsmen bungalow. It is broken up into several small, slightly cluttered rooms and you wind your way back to the deli counter in the back room. The front rooms are a mix of local PA sodas you can't​ really find here; some bulk candy broke​ down into smaller bags. (they missed Wilber Buds), lots of jarred pickles, jams, ​and sauces and things​​ like pottery and cast iron. The back room has a ​deli on one side, a refrigerator​​ case with fresh salads, horseradish, blocks of cheese and fresh scrapple. Tucked into a corner is a freezer chest with frozen sausages, bags of sliced steak (for cheesesteaks​) and some baked goods. The staff is really friendly, and the sandwich I ordered was good - Kunzler liverwurst​, Cooper sharp cheese, horseradish mustard and onion on rye. The sandwich was good and a decent value for the price, I was surprised by the two tiny green​ olives wrapped in my sandwich​ and the round rye bread. They also carry a nice assortment of PA chips and pretzels, some brands you don't find in Florida. It seems a lot of folks from the medical center frequent the place for lunch and the room gets crowded and hard to navigate. Prices for things like diet PA Dutch Birch Beet are a little pricey, and they lack in fresh baked goods. Overall, I would go back if I was in the area and looking to stock up on some things but not someplace I frequent or make a special trip for. I agree with a previous reviewer; there​ are better places in Sarasota; unless Kunzler is your MUST HAVE meat brand. read more

Wow, what a disappointment. Granted, there were several products that are hard to find in this area of the country. But one thing that's NOT hard to find is indifferent employees. Two of them were borderline rude. And after spending five minutes reading the chalkboard with all the offerings, we approached the worker, only to hear, "Oh, we don't actually HAVE that stuff. It's just for decor." Sorry to bother you. Steakums OBVIOUSLY repackaged as "Philly cheesesteak meat," while the chipped beef that looked good and fresh was $20/pound! Danish butter cookies sold at Aldi for $2.99, $4.99. Not even repackaged. They DID have some hard-to-find PA goods, like birch beer and sarsaparilla. But an insult to anyone from PA.
