Sam offered an estimate over the phone. I told him that I wanted the estimate to be close to the actual cost as my mother (92) was on a fixed income. When the move was over, we were charged almost twice the amount of the estimate. The movers told us there should have been a third man in their crew but he'd gone to the hospital after cutting his hands in the morning job. So of course we wondered if that was why the job took so much longer. The movers left their dollies at my mom's condo forgetting to pack them for when we got to mom's new place. They only went to pick up the dollies when most of the furniture had been moved in. One of my brothers told them they had not only forgotten to pack their dollies, but that they had left my mom's 55" television at the back entrance of the condo building. They borrowed a key to get back into the building to pick these items up. Then, they never gave the key back. I would highly recommend not using this business in the future. Under new management since September 2031, I can't say enough nice things about these guys. They were professional, fast and took better care of my stuff than I do. Best of all, they were friendly and seemed like they wanted to be there. read more

We had an awful experience with AMJ Campbell in Thunder Bay during our move from Thunder Bay to BC. We had already gone ahead to BC and had paid for a full pack and move. When we unpacked, we found several boxes where our belongings (breakables included ) were thrown into boxes. Items that were hanging behind our back door were left behind and never made it to BC and a room full of things that were specifically told to remain in Thunder Bay ended up being packed and sent to BC. We understand that with us not being there, it was a little more likely for mistakes to happen, but we thought the manager should be aware regardless. When we called the manager (Sam), to let him know about our experience, we had to phone four times over the course of a month and a half without a single call being returned. When I finally got a hold of him, he was rude and completely unaccommodating. I had to get angry before he agreed to mail back one item to Thunder Bay that cost a total of $18.84. Even receiving that cheque took another month and a half with no response. We were very disappointed with the service received by AMJ in Thunder Bay. They seemed like a great company when they came by for their quote, but everything after was very poor quality - from the actual services rendered by the movers to the customer service of the manager. Horrible. They broke several items during my move. They were late with the delivery. They sent an unlicensed driver who had to unload the truck and move everything to a smaller truck. They didn't label the boxes they packed so we didn't know where anything went. Sam (the GM) didn't return any of our calls or emails. And now they're refusing to pay for the replacement.
