They does not accept reservations, just walk-in. They do have few vegan options. Nice ambience with great flavors to taste, great value for your money you spend. Was craving for Veg Thali for a quite some days and found this pure home style Veg Thali which included pappu, sambar, kasarbath, curd, pickle, papad, chapattis and two veg curries. Tried Jackfruit Biryani which was awesome in taste too. The ambience is simple and nothing special. The tables were kept clean more often and the plates are taken away as soon as we are done thus making way for other customers to occupy in no time. They have reasonable pricing, home style food, excellent taste without compromise on quality. All the food items including sweets and snacks available here are vegetarian. Plenty of free parking available in front and around the restaurant. As it's located next to Hanuman Mandir, so you have enough space in the complex as well as there is plenty of space in the opposite school parking lot to use on weekends and after the school. Amma kitchen has become my go-to, reliable spot for consistent meals and tiffin items. Service is extraordinarily fast every time, although they have so many customers all the time. Prices have stayed very reasonable as well. I still visit them for Veg Thali, Meals Combos, Mango Lassi and Bisibelath. A place for authentic home made style South Indian food. Have been here more than 3 times and every single time I had no regrets having food here. The food here is amazing with great quantity and at a very reasonable price compared to Aunty's Kitchen near by which is deteriorating day by day. A great and fitting competitor considering the level and speed of service offered. The first time I tried Paneer Dosa and as the name says it's just Dosa with shredded Paneer filling in place of Masala. The dosa was too good and moist unlike the dry Dosas we get at other places. The paneer was just shredded and added and literally no spice/ salt nothing. Had a plate of samosas as well. Wasn't that great but the chutneys were good. The next time I went for lunch on a Saturday, it was too crowded and hard to find a place. We got a Thali and it was just Wow to me! Was craving for Thali for quite some days and found this pure home style Veg Thali which included Pappu, Sambar, Gulab jamun, curd, pickle and 2 curries. There's a great demand for the thali here for its reasonable price and quality. The next time had Onion Dosa and they ran out of Sambar which I loved the most. I'm glad they atleast clarify the wait times and non availability of food up front than making us wait for hours like Auntys kitchen who gives a standard 40minute wait time to everyone. Had Badam milk along side this and it tasted great and subtle as well. No extra sugar or any colors as I could see. Just mashed Badam and milk and the food stays so grounded. The quality is all the more excellent which makes me revisit frequently. The ambience is simple and nothing special. The tables are kept clean more often than being piled up like Auntys kitchen and the plates are taken away as soon as we are done thus making way for other customers to occupy in no time. Weekends are a lot busy especially during lunch times so be prepared for a wait time of atleast 20-30 minutes to get a table for 2 or 4. Love this place! It has dark windows and doesn't seem like much from outside. It is a very casual place. It has authentic South Indian food. They offer weekend specials like thali/platter. I highly recommend trying their Dosa and idly. They also have a range of pickles, sweets and beverages. They have indoor seating, it's limited. They offer dine in and take out. It is located in the same plaza as Hanuman temple on Cumming St. has ample of parking. There are benches in the green space outside but no table service outside. Tucked into the neighborhoods of suburbia, this spot is great for Veg Indian food. Try their Parasattu - definitely worth the wait and the flavors are great. Service is manageable. Part of it is because they have a small kitchen, but the other part is that they are rushed. They just need to be better at checking the finished product out the kitchen. My stomach and South Indian food have some issues. They are what one would call frenemies. The majority of the clientele is Indian and bollywood videos are always on- makes for an exciting lunch hour. They offer a lunch buffet for $6.99 and you can also order off their main menu. The buffet contains nan, chapatti, uthappam, a couple of daals, a couple of other veg dishes, plain basmati rice and a herb basmati, accoutrements, and fruit. Not huge, but you will get your craving fulfilled. The food wasn't spicy enough for me , but my spice hating friend thought it was too much. There is some good yogurt to cool things down. The veg biryani wasn't my favorite, but it was cheap and I love cheap! I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I my belly starts craving South Indian I'll be back. I have been to Amma's kitchen few years ago. Amma kicthcen serves completely vegetarian Indian food. It is tucked away in a small strip mall, in a small road off windward parkway. The owners of the restaurant are from a south Indian State called 'AndraPradesh' , in which cuisine, by reputation, tends to be spicy. But the food served here will not have any eggs, and only minimal use of onions and garlic. They had a buffet for lunch and dinner service as well. Their buffet tends to be hit or miss. But if you were a pure vegetarian, who won't even eat at places that cooks meat or egg, your options are limited when it comes to eating out and this place is for you. Their Dosa dishes were decent but they had several tasty homemade, packed snack and sweet items. I have been there few times but I have experienced better vegetarian food at some other Indian restaurants(like madras chettinaad and krishna vilas) at the neighborhood, that serve non-vegetarian as well. read more

I give this restaurant 5 stars, because the food here is basically home made. The restaurant is connected to a small temple, so eating here is like eating in someone's home. I get the thali whenever I eat here, which used yo be almost every day before I switched jobs. The entrees on the thali are nothing like the food it get In a normal Indian restaurant. The thali has four entrees, two lentil based breads, condiments, and two desserts. If you can't take hot food, you probably don't want to eat here, but I feel more satisfied eating here than any other restaurant. The two desserts on the thali are always excellent, and the yogurt just like I've had in Indian homes. The menu is South Indian vegetarian, so do not expect typical menus you're used to, and if you come here, the Uttapom is excellent. read more

The good thing about the restaurant is they introduced lot more new items. Workers that are Indian know what they are doing. But still the quality is not that much greatly improved. The food is as typical a South Indian vegetarian food as a resturaunt can get. The buffet is good. Simple and fairly nutritious, it does not float in oil or fat. If you want that anyway there is a container with ghee - that delish clarified butter - that is available on the condiments and dessert side. There are typically two veggie sides with rasam, dal and sambar being separate. Nan, rice and ogrey or ba'ath - typical of Sri Vaishnav food. Wholesome and tasty. My only negative thought is that sometimes the food is way too salty. A la carte is typical of a SI resturaunt. Some NI dishes are good and others are a SI's take on NI food. This is not a sit-down resturaunt and so don't expect to be waited upon. As is typical of India, the food arrives as it is cooked - in that sequence. So don't all expect to eat at the same time. All in all the experience is as close to that of a typical vegetarian eatery in India - no more, no less. If you want a taste of that you will come away very satisfied. Finally, the family that runs the resturaunt also runs the small Hindu temple next door. It is dedicated to Hanuman the deity who is worshipped for good health and a strong physical body.
