With two campuses in Bedford Park most students are now situated on the Main campus with the recent addition of the newly built Education building. It has also recently had a multimillion dollar upgrade to the sports facilities and now boasts one of the best views of any uni and cheapest memberships for a fully equipped gym. Degrees ranging in the areas of Education, Humanity, Science, Law and Medicine there is a massive range and great level of experience that goes along with them. Party life dropped off a bit with the closure of the Tav but after a few years is picking back up with the advent of powers that be getting their acts together.

The tradition continues today so that any couple with young children considering taking work in the University will have an option to send their young pre school children here. It is not in the city and stands very close to wide open space just beyond the river so mum and dad are not too far away. A beautiful old building that has developed with the times to provide more than adequate services.

Originally I was only going to come for one year before moving out into a share home as most university students do, however due to the way this residential college provided and nurtured my academic, residential, social and emotional needs as well as providing safety, accommodation and food it was extremely easy to stay for 4 years making life long friends. As a new professional making their way through the education pathway I highly recommend this college to all university students to come and try a once in a lifetime experience. Located just north of the city, St Anns is one of Adelaide's best residential colleges for university students. Don't worry, you won't actually come across any baboons, although apparently people can hear them from their rooms sometimes (zoo is very close). I attended this college for my first year of college and had a lot of fun, even though I'm not really one for sharing space and constant noise. You need to be accepted to this college, so apply early and get ready for an interview. The living quarters are fairly good, although first years are often in the smaller, less modern rooms, with share toilets and cubicle showers - not so fun. Other rooms are great, most with en-suite bathrooms and air conditioners. Food is included here, with 3 meals a day served within certain times, and other basics available throughout the day. The food is good, depending on how fussy you are. But there is always a bar filled with salads and cold meats for sandwich's, which is great for packing a uni lunch. St Anns certainly knows how to party. Prepare yourself and your liver for O-week; constant drinking, pranks, games, beach days, pubs and more. Be ware of port and choc night, I will not give details as I think it's meant to be a surprise for freshers. My advice is to remember where your bedroom is and a toilet bowl. All in all you should have a good time here.

Here in Adelaide I've been more a one on one conversationalist with a range of the students at different stages of their Law Degrees, and I must say the difference between the Sydney students and the Adelaide students is vast - reflective of the two different places essentially. Not so much going on here so there tends to be more questions, about things they don't even ask about in Sydney. The School of Law has its own little exclusive bar and is a very snug little bug in its well worn rug. The students mostly keep their heads down and noses inbeteen the books keeping up with their reading. There are some fine debaters and as the old joke goes, some minor and some master debaters as well. I couldn't point the finger because it usually takes one to know one. Certainly it takes a fair amount to know ones self. Anyway if you were wanting to study law in this fine country Adelaide University Law School would be one of the more secluded and quiet places you could go, which for some is a good thing and for others it simply doesn't do at all.

If you want to go to University or Tafe in SA, it is likely you will need to apply through the Tertiary Admissions Centre's online processing, they then generate offers of places based on the number available. Most of the courses offered at The University of South Australia, University of Adelaide, Flinders University of South Australia, TAFE SA and Charles Darwin University require the applicant to submit through SATAC. If you don't possess the typical secondary qualifications for admission to a tertiary institution you may be required to sit a STAT (Special Tertiary Admissions Test) prior to making an application. SATAC conducts these tests to assess the relevant skills and knowledge of an applicant. The STAT results can then be used in place of a TER (tertiary entrance rank score) or equivalent.

I, like everyone else in SA, applied through SATAC to get into my uni course, and my own experience was pretty positive except for one major thing. Yes I have a gripe! While I found SATAC staff to be really lovely and professional and friendly, even in the midst of the busiest time ever, when every secondary student and adult student is applying for a course. They're friendly under pressure and helpful. Lines can get a but long in the lunch break time during admissions time, but otherwise the centre itself is quite central and a-ok. My gripe: the website. Like most government websites, it's a bit all over the shop. The info is probably there, but it's SUPER hard to find. There's no search button! Who doesn't have a search button? I was overseas when I was applying and needed to find info without being able to call in on the phone conveniently, and it was next to impossible, sadly. You definitely need someone in person/ over the phone to help you out here. Edit the website, add a SEARCH BUTTON, and you will be at least 1 star better, SATAC!

St Peters Woodlands Primary used to be located in central Glenelg and it was a much smaller school…read moreback then with hardly any grounds. It wasn't until the school relocated to the former Woodlands Girls Grammar School site that it became the school it is today. Both of my daughters attended this school and I can't say enough about it. The ground and the school buildings are picturesque and steeped in history. I used to love helping out with reading, sitting above the cloisters with beautiful views across the oval and Glenelg. My last daughter left here 4 years ago but back when they were both here the teachers were amazing, and very dedicated. The former headmaster, Roger Taylor was an outstanding Headmaster, and it was a very sad day when he retired, leaving very big shoes to fill. Things have changed a little in the last few years with well rennovated modern classrooms built, in keeping with the older buildings. The school has both a strong academic focus as well as a wonderful sports and music programs. They have also always had an artist in residence so the fine arts are well represented too. The school has a wonderful community feel and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

My daughter is in grade 4 at St Peters Woodlands. This is a 'safe' school and struggles with…read morestudents who are outside of this square, that is; students who have learning difficulties or who are academically bright. We were forced to hire a tutor on top of what is essentially a very expensive school because the school failed to help our daughter. Frustratingly the Headmaster is Utopian - "we are all happy here at St Peters Woodlands". They do have a Boost programme which is spasmodic and, for our daughter at least, failed to follow up on any requests. In our experience we have had to fight - phone calls, meetings - to get anywhere. There is another thing to consider - when they reach grade three the classes drop from four to three which means that the number of students per class dramatically rises. My daughters class this year has 29 students, my niece in a public school has 28. If your son/daughter has any problem this is a real issue. They disguise all of these issues by beautifully manicured grounds. For almost seven thousand dollars a year you would expect a lot more from this school

Principal Julie Hayes is very proud of her Primary School, and there are so many reasons she should…read morebe proud, I can easily understand it; she is not the sort of school Principal that tells you so readily why she is proud of the school though, she simply lists the amazing variety of activities her kids get into, and explains the thinking behind it. That's where you see the pride she is brimming with, and in a strange sort of way you can tell she loves her school and her staff. It is a beautiful school, plenty of old trees proving decent shade, good buildings, a whole section of the school is dedicated to climate change awareness and another is a health facility set up for health checks including dental as well as a community space that can be used by the school community for a range of things, and the art work is stunning. They have a first people or aboriginal or indigenous component in the staff and you see it in the art work that is proudly placed all around the administration and foyer areas. I was taken by the little snakes all the students had made at one point. Very cute. If my kids were at the age where they'd be in Primary School I would long to send them here.

The centre is predominantly a day care facility but also holds fun groups for a range of young ages which help them to socialise with other children and play games and activities. There are also groups for mothers and their babies, and they hold special 'Dad Days' to celebrate the fathers. The facilities are really modern and impressive with a large playground and plenty of toys and games. There is also private rooms for group meetings and get togethers. Additionally, they specialise in children with delayed physical development and have an onsite physiotherapist and nurse on during the day who can help your child if they are experiencing such a difficulty. They do not provide an form of immunisations however. There are private medical cubicles where your children can be examined in peace and the experts may also give you a treatment plan you can take home to continue with in their own home environment. As a public service, I was unsure of the cost but would suggest it would be minimal at best.
