Gelato

This was a decent ice cream shop. We stopped late at night after dinner. It's located very centrally and conveniently in the center. It is open until pretty late, which is great. They had several flavors and options to choose from. Seating is limited.

The gelato was not overly sweet and very flavorful. The shop is very neat and in an optimal location. Servers were friendly and attentive.

Fast service, helpful (but not so friendly) servers and delicious gelato! Also a great spot to sit outside and people watch while enjoying dessert!

The macaron wasn't really needed but it added a nice little touch if you're feeling fancy.

So after awhile, many crave a traditional burger in a country where burgers are not staples of the…read morefood society. After a few weeks traveling in Spain, I was in need of a juicy burger and Tommy Mel's hit the spot! As with most restaurants in Spain, do not expect a early dinner or late lunch as times vary versus traditional eating hours outside of Europe. The hours on Yelp may be off, as I showed up around five only to find it closed and not opening for a few more hours. With that said, the restaurant is centrally located in Seville, which makes it not too much of a jaunt if staying in the city center. The inside of the restaurant boasts that traditional 50's vibe that most Americans have become accustomed too, although everything was clean and there was plenty of seating. Staff was decent, but do not expect superb service, which is fine by me as I have gotten used to the way most restaurant staff in Europe operate. The menu boats plenty of good American diner food, typical hot dogs, burgers, fries, shakes, et cetera and prices are very affordable. They also offer some tasty alcoholic beverages, which I had a sip of one and it was on point!! Ended up ordering a cheeseburger with avocado and a side of fries, which took no time at all to arrive. The burger was cooked to perfect (medium), and had a nice grill top taste to it, which maintaining its juiciness. As for the side of fries, they portioned them perfectly as some restaurants serve you way too many, and as for the taste, I would chalk them up to subpar in taste and crispness. Worth a stop in the end? Well it depends, I would not necessarily go out of the way to ignore the local goods to eat at Tommy Mel's, but I would suggest it if you need a burger and fries fix.

As an American visiting Seville visiting this homage to American diners, the level of meta here was…read moreheavy. The execution and decor of the place are seamless - from the 50s American rock-n-roll on the jukebox to the bellhop waiter/waitress outfits, you'd be forgiven if you thought you had walked straight into Mel's diner in Hollywood (or in Happy Days). Service was friendly and prompt - they let us in pretty close to the 4:30p afternoon siesta/break and didn't rush us at all. Food was a decent approximation of a diner, but not a true US diner experience. I got the chicken tacos, which I found too fatty (I noticed that seems to be a trend with Spanish chicken, served mostly dark meat and fatty - really didn't work with the richness of guac, cheese, etc) for me. My wife enjoyed her burger - solid if a touch overcooked. Fries were great and props for having the Heinz ketchup. Fun place to visit and relatively unique for Spain. Not a bad option if you are craving some American-style food, if not quite quintessential US diner greasy spoon awesomeness.

Taco Tuesday ... HOOAH!…read more We saw the sign for Taco Tuesday with tacos ranging from €1 to €2 and the menu had some things my wife would like, so we asked for a table outside. The gentleman told us that he would be right with us, but we waited 15 minutes to be seated, too long. We were hungry and it was late, so we stuck around. I asked for a Margarita (€7), not knowing the price, even though I had asked for a Drinks menu, not available, something I hardly ever do because that is a sure sign that the drinks are expensive. It came in a small glass, maybe 8 ounces, and was filled with ice, having taken maybe three small sips to finish it off, 3-4 ounces of liquid max and extremely weak ... FUBAR! My wife's first choice, the Philly Cheesesteak (€11) was not available, so she decided on the Pulled Pork Sandwich (€9). I wanted the Al Pastor tacos (€1.50), but they were also out, crap, so I ordered two Carnitas (€1.50 each) and two Steak tacos (€2 each). My better half did not like the taste of the pulled pork, but it tasted fine to me. Her french fries were abundant, but were too salty, even for those of us who like salt on our fries. My tacos were on small 'street taco' tortillas with a reasonable amount of meat, but only some onions and radishes, no cilantro. They were actually pretty good, but not filling, so I polished off what was left of my wife's pulled pork sandwich and a few fries. For €1 to €2 a pop, I was not complaining. The service was good once we got seated and the food was decent, but the lack of available options and the price of my itty-bitty margarita would ensure that we do not return any time soon. That exact situation occurred when I visited Torch Coffee Roasters. When the barista saw I was about to snap a picture, he asked me if he could redo it. I compromised. I did not get another drink because I did not want to waste the one I got. However, I agreed to take a picture of his next latte for another customer so I had a more representative example of his skills. In terms of my latte, the presentation was subpar but the substance was very good. The texture was smooth and the taste had no hint of bitterness. Torch Coffee Roasters also had the most space of the coffee shops I tried in Seville. Accordingly, definitely get the latte to stay if you are not in a rush. The latte art is excellent if you do. I usually order espresso and/or pour over whenever I go to a coffee shop. Here, I focused on espresso and had them a few different times. Everything time it was pulled well with the machine dialed in correctly for the beans. They were also using good quality craft beans, which is setting them up for success. Had the change to try the latte as well, which was also very good. The pastries were okay, nothing special. The space itself is very inviting with lots of seating, it does get pretty loud though.
