She has a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the prestigious Juliard School of Music which is a rare find amongst local music teachers. She teaches classical vocal techniques and specializes in opera and musical theater. Classical techniques expands the vocal range, evens out the voice and develops beautiful colors to the voice and even singers from different genres of music will study classical vocal techniques to expand their vocal abilities and for good vocal health. She teaches both children and adult piano lessons. She is the best music teacher I have ever had not just because her techniques are flawless and she understands how to reach her students whether they are beginners, intermediate or advanced but she is patient and kind and she inspires me and her other students to do our very best. Barbara has many long term studen (I studied both piano and voice with Barbara for over 20 years) as she builds trust with her students and we always learn and grow under her tutelage. Many of her younger students have gone on to study piano or musical theater at the University level. One of her students even played piano for a former president at the White House! I cannot quite find the words to express how wonderful Barbara is. She completely transformed my voice and I became skilled at playing classical pieces on the piano which is something that I dreamed of doing since I was a child. After owning only used accordions, this was to be my first new accordion, so I was quite excited about the process. After I finally established contact, I did get fairly prompt and helpful responses for a time. But this is a big purchase decision for me. I was planning to spend around $5000, so I had a lot of very specific questions--about features, reed quality, tuning, size, weight, price, availability, etc.--and I was taking my time to make the best decision I could make. Buying an accordion without being able to spend some time with it is a very big risk, so getting all questions answered is really the only way to mitigate some of the risk. Unfortunately, after a few weeks, they virtually stopped responding to my emails. In their final email they offered to spend time with me on the phone to "teach" (?!) me about the features and benefits of several models...but only after sending them a non-refundable advance payment of $250! That was the end of that! I kept my $250 and bought my new accordion elsewhere--from a dealer with a better idea that putting time and effort into "customer service" is actually part of his job to make a sale and not a sales item of its own!

I would like to say that I have had very nice work done by Jim…read morein the repair shop.He recently took out some very hard to reach dents on my Olds Bb and had to take the horn apart to get them;I expected to see solder marks all along the leadpipe but the tpt looks like nothing was even done(except the dents are gone) Another thing is I have brought tpts there in the past thinking I needed valve alignments,when in fact they were fine, and he told me this.
