In terms of quality this place gets 5 stars and the service is also excellent :-) They have a fairly well equipped gym and the equipment is of top quality. The running machine had built in TV and Internet and loads of different options. The weight machines were also quite versatile. The change rooms and facilities are excellent with loads of lockers and they give you nice robes and towels to change in. If you are visiting the spa you can also get all sorts of toiletries from the front desk. The pool is nice and looks beautiful. There is a sauna and a steam room as well. Again lots of lounge chairs and towels available. The massage I had was excellent and I fell asleep straight away and woke up after quite a while :-) I always do that when the massage is great. All in all a fabulous experience and I would happily come back here any day. I love spas and have been to many around the world and it is nice to know we have a wonderful place not far from home :-)) I look forward to my next visit. Don't forget to try the sample perfumes on your way out that are on the reception counter ;-))

OK - I'll be a bit kinder in this round than I was in my Trip Advisor review, partially due to the…read morefact that this will be the first Yelp review in English, and secondly, that the other Yelp reviews speak largely to the architectural beauty of the structure, and the museum like qualities of the sculptures, the woodwork, and simply the ornate beauty of the place. I'm on board with all that. Where my review gets dicey is when you try to compare this with the ultra self-indulgent thermal and sauna complexes that are sprouting up all over northern Europe. Not a fair comparison, it seems.... As you approach the building, it is quite imposing along the river banks (literally across the street from the Deutsches Museum). I thought, "this is gonna be great!" Once inside however, I found a few things to be more challenging than I had expected. * I was unable to locate a map of the place, and after looking at the menu of fees; I still was unable to figure out exactly what I was asking for. * The person working the admission booth was quite friendly, but apparently had NO English whatsoever. I'm good with that, but... * Signage around the place was sort of hit and miss, especially since you have to leave some of your belongings in a small box near the attendant, (who also only spoke German, but was significantly more curt!) * I kept thinking I would find a map of the place so I would know where the various baths and saunas were located. If such a thing exists, it's still a mystery to me. At one point, I made my way into the hall with the main pool wrapped only in a towel, only to find the door (that would lead me back to the sauna) locked behind me. Finally figured out my wristband would unlock the door, after a bit of wondering how I would negotiate getting out of the spa in only a towel. * But most importantly, assuming I found all the major features on offer, I was a little surprised there wasn't more there. Granted, I was there on a Wednesday afternoon, but having said that, I was surprised to find the only two dozen or so other patrons in the entire place, and most of them were, shall we say, of the elder population. All the reports about the beauty of the facility are true, as it was certainly a gem of the late 19th century, and has been well preserved. Somehow, I think that I expected there would be a bit more in the sauna area, and that even if exclusively in German, the staff would be a bit more helpful to a wayward and weary tourist. Maybe four or five stars on another day with a different attendant working the locker room, but not this time around!

Loved this hotel!!!…read more Great location - easy to get to the main strip of shops and restaurants, but far enough that you don't hear all the street noise. They had a wonderful staff that makes you feel welcome and are super helpful. The rooms are nice and cozy BUT do not have air conditioning -but they did have a fan stored in the closet which we definitely used. We were there in July so we kept the windows slightly ajar to get some air flow. They were able to sell us passes for the gondola ride to/back to the top of Zugspite mountain - that was very convenient. Nice restaurant/bar... which we enjoyed sitting outside drinking wine at the end of the day. It was very nice. Would I go back? Sure

I've stayed at Hotel Zugspitze twice now, and had good stays both times…read more Service is friendly (and english-speaking), even volunteering to call the local cable-car to confirm whether it was open or not before we drove out to it. The location is excellent, just a hundred meters or so from the main pedestrian area of Garmisch, but easy to drive to as well. There is some street parking nearby, but they also have a small parking garage for ~$10/day, which you probably want to reserve in advance if you think you might want a guaranteed spot. The rooms are traditional european, but everything is clean and well maintained. The mattresses have always been firm but not hard, and the showers in good shape. If you get lucky enough to have a room facing the street, you'll also get some amazing views of the Zugspitze itself! The amenities are excellent as well; the indoor pool area is lovely, and has both a pool and a good-sized hot tub. Breakfast is definitely above average as well! Overall a great choice in Garmisch; maybe not the cheapest, but a good deal for what you get.

Good restaurant on 2nd floor with views to castles, mountains and fields of green. Family friendly. Heads up for fellow US citizens, with kids : it's nudity friendly for old and young and everyone is civilized and autonomous about it. I know it's not for all families. They have a massages but it's the equivalent of a oily rub down. Nothing Therapeutic, rather relaxing. Perfect for the daily get away or after a good work out day

Das Schwimmbad ist von September bis Mitte Mai geschlossen. In diesen Monaten könnte man sich aktiv darum kümmern, dass genügend Aufsichtskräfte angeworben u. evtl. ausgebildet werden und auch eventuelle Baumaßnahmen könnten ausgeführt werden, damit das Freibad zum Öffnungstermin FERTIG ist, auch für die Kinder. Schwimmen ist ein Volkssport und sollte viel besser gefördert werden, zumal immer weniger Kinder schwimmen lernen. Nur einmal zum Vergleich: in meinem früheren Heimatdorf in NRW gibt es auch ein Schwimmbad mit 50 m Becken. Öffnungszeiten: Dienstag bis Freitag 6:15 Uhr -20.00 Uhr; an Wochenenden bis 18.00 Uhr, nur Montagvormittag geschlossen. Das ermöglicht Berufstätigen, VOR der Arbeit ihr Schwimmpensum zu schaffen und ist angenehmer, als spätnachmittags im sehr vollen Schwimmbecken zu versuchen, Bahnen zu schwimmen. Ich habe es gestern versucht; das hat wirklich keinen Spaß gemacht. Die Öffnungszeiten ab 1. Juli und damit wohl auch während der Sommerferien sind nicht schönzureden. Es gibt Familien, die es sich nicht leisten können, in den Urlaub zu fahren; gerade für sie ist das Freibad sehr wichtig. Ich hoffe sehr, dass Sie dem Thema zukünftig mehr Bedeutung schenken und mehr im Sinne der Bevölkerung handeln.
