Completely garbage customer service/management. Whoever takes down your orders needs to have their brain examined. I placed an order online for pick up, then called the store around 2pm to confirm the items and spice levels of the dishes as well as the pick up time of my order (7pm). I show up at 7pm, say I have an order for pickup, the hostess got snippy with me when I didnt have my order number (I was never given one) and then told me they had no record of my order and that I would have to re place the order. What is the point of having online ordering if it doesn't work? What is the point of having the customer call in to confirm their order if you still cant get it right after it being placed online and over the phone? I wasted almost an hour of my time driving to and from your establishment. And honestly, after seeing how gross it looked inside I am kind of relieved that my order got messed up. I have had a lot of great indian food, but this fell short. Way short. The service was fine, but the food was just not authentic, it lacked freshness, and missed the mark on the spices that keep me seeking good Indian food wherever I travel. We ordered three items and none gained positive revues. There are two in this town, I'll try the other one and let you know. Note to chef: your butter chicken tasted like you seasoned it with a a slury of ketchup and sugar. I am generously giving you two stars. One was for just showing up for work. We came for supper on a Monday evening. The restaurant was quiet and seemed clean. We ordered fish pakoras, onion bhaji, and papadum to start with. The pakoras and bhaji seemed to be covered and fried in the same plain, unseasoned batter. The fish tasted like it had been made from frozen pieces of cod. The papadums were fine. For the mains we shared an order each of Tandoori chicken, lamb kebabs, Navratan Korma, a side of rice, and a side of pickles. Portions were a good size. The meats were moist with decent flavour, and the korma was creamy and subtle, and full of veggies. Our side of raita was just some Greek yoghurt with some veggies added- no spices or tempering. We finished with an order of gulab jamun. Sweet, but light on the spice. The service was OK. Our server did remove the hardly-touched raita from our bill, but brought the bill before asking if we wanted dessert. She seemed unfamiliar with the food she was serving. Overall, a solid 'good', but some poor texture, unexciting or bland flavours, and average service prevent it from being 4 or 5 stars. read more

BEST BUTTER CHICKEN AN NAAN EVER. I have a a lot of butter chicken. So has my boyfriend. We both LOVE THIS place. Best we have ever tasted. If you are coming to parksville seek this place out to eat. The pickup was ready in about 30 minutes and staff are kind. And the BUTTER CHICKEN IS WOW WOW ZOO WEEE MAMA I can't get enough I just keep coming back and I don't even live here. Really nice decor and kind staff. The food was flavourful but the butter chicken had a sweet ketchup flavour that was off putting. The prawn vindaloo sauce on the other hand was delicious and savoury with a deep and rich flavour. The veggies korma was pretty good although a little on the sweet side as well. WOW! We found them on Yelp! gave them a quick call to make sure they could do Gluten Free - after a very definite YES we walked over. The ambiance was about 3 stars, but the food, knowledge of allergies and service were amazing. The coconut lamb was tender and flavorful, the tikka chicken a sizzling favorite and the paneer perfectly crafted. Will be back the next time we are in Parksville! read more

This is a great choice for informal dining in a great atmosphere. It is well presented with friendly service and a clear menu. If you have never eaten Indian food give this place a try. I've passed by this restaurant so many times on my way into Parksville. It is in a very unassuming location, but don't let that stop you from ordering take out or eating in. It is a pleasant surprise in this little town. I walked in and ordered Butter Chicken and a Vegetarian Paneer in Cashew sauce with a side of Garlic Onion Naan bread. When they brought them out about 20 minutes later they were piping hot. I was delighted in the flavours of each. I ordered a mild curry not knowing what to expect, but next time I will ask for a medium to see if there is a little more kick. Will definitely go back again. read more

Absolutely fabulous! From the moment we walked in the door on a busy Saturday night, without a reservation, the staff at Amrikko's Indian Grill impressed us. There was one table that had just become available and it was cleaned and we were seated in under two minutes. The server was attentive without being intrusive and very knowledgeable. Our food came out quickly, in spite of how busy the restaurant was. Our meal was the best food I have eaten in years. From the veggie pakora starter to an amazing main course of prawns and creamy spice heaven over rice to the spinach nann, our experience was perfect! A great bargain as well, two mains, one appy, two orders of nann, two alcoholic beverages and coffee, $65....an affordable, all-round unforgettable restaurant experience....priceless! We were delightfully impressed by the aromatic flavours coming from the kitchen at Amrikko's! Starting with the calamari with mango chutney, we knew we were in for a good night! The evening progressed with Butter Chicken (of course), beef curry and Navarttan (veggie) Korma. Definitely a local favorite, the butter chicken is their most famous dish, which I've had many times. I also liked the paneer spinach, vegetable korma, curry lamb and vegetables, and the dessert gulab jamun (syrup dough balls). Naan and rice are also good. read more

Worst service ever. Waitress did not submit our food order to the kitchen. Waited an hour before she came back to our table all the while everyone else in the restaurant had revceived their food. We had take out. Considering it's likely the only Indian restaurant in Parksville, I was rather impressed. Spices were bang on. Portions were good for 2 people. They use good quality meats for their tandoori. The pakoras were kind of odd looking but tasty. Imagine the veg to be rolled up in some kind of philo then cut into sections and deep fried. Price was on upper edge of reasonable but not crazy, considering there location and access to decent Indian spices. Definitely a good choice for visitors wanting easy to eat food for picnics at the beach. read more

We were there on a Monday night and the place was almost full when we arrived. The place was nicely decorated, not fancy but still nice. Our appetizer came out 5 minutes after we ordered. But our entrée did not come out until 35 minutes later. During this time, not one of the staff came to tell us about the wait. I noticed other people who were there before we arrived, were served and finished their meal while U.S. And another party who came in at the same time with us were still waiting for our food. Our server did not apologize for the delay, do not know if this is normal for them. The food was very good, portion was big too. I would give this a higher rating if the server or manager had communicated to us about the long wait. We walked in the restaurant at 7pm and by the time we paid the bill it was 8:45pm. read more

After reading all the positive remarks about this restaurant my family and I decided to try it out. I must say they had a great selection of dishes, the staff was polite and professional. The restaurant is quaint and smelled wonderful. The food was very delicious and well presented and priced fairly. I would have given it 5 stars based on food alone but this isn't what I consider fine dining. We will be back and so happy to have a truly good restaurant nearby.
