Don't even bother having a different flooring company come to your home and provide a quote. Just call Marcin, discuss the project, get the price, and hire him. His pricing is competitive, he's been doing this for 25 years, and he will be on the job site everyday (actually doing the refinishing work himself!) When I hired him I had no idea he would be in the apartment everyday, not only managing the project, but being so hands on as well. My floors are stunning, gorgeous, perfect.....it took my breath away when I saw them completely finished for the first time! I wanted to cry. I couldn't have asked for the job to come out better than it did. Marcin repaired, replaced, and installed new hardwood sections. He also sanded, stained, and refinished over 1,600 sq foot of flooring in my prewar apartment. Some of the oak was parquet pattern and some was straight plank. The job was complicated and required more than 6 layers of sanding, different sanding techniques, and leveling out a hallway that was damaged and warped. The end results are just absolutely gorgeous. Marcin never rushed a single step in the process. My original wood floors (from 1939) look like brand new. Marcin uses Bona products and Bona dustless sanding machines. Bona is a high quality product that is superior to non-branded processes. I know this because 6 years ago, I hired a bargain company to redo floors in my other apartment and was not happy with the results. This time around with my new apartment I decided to go with Marcin because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews and I am so glad I did. My floors look like a million bucks. There is a difference when you go with brand name. We went with Provincial stain color on our white oak floors and semi-gloss BonaTrafficHD water based poly topcoat. We visited the apartment today and got to walk around for the first time in our socks to see the finished product. There is not a single blemish in the job. The photos cannot express the high level of care, precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that Marcin takes to make sure the end product is perfect. Marcin is the best in the business. He is professional and treated my super, neighbors, and co-op building with patience, care and respect. I would trust him to do a job even if I could not be there to supervise. If you are an out of town customer, you can trust Marcin to take care of the project without having to actually be there. What else can I say? I will enjoy my floors everyday for many, many years to come. The color and the semi gloss finish is incredibly elegant! I couldn't be happier. Thank you Marcin!

When I purchased my home, I knew I was going to have Marcin come and refinish my floors. Marcin came and the work was incredible. He was punctual, neat, detailed and responsive. My husband tipped him upon completion even though he owns this company and the painters tape he used for the plastic tarps peeled off my new paint, but we appreciated his work. Yes. The painters tape that they used to hang plastic tarps to contain dust peeled my newly painted walls. I wasn't happy, but I never mentioned it due to my walls needing lots of tlc prior to his work. He used painters tape and I thought they were fully cured after a few weeks, so this was not his fault. And yes, we should have had the walls fixed after the floors. That's on us. Looking around further, I noticed the reusable carpet stair treads I purchased to prevent falls were missing. We did not have carpeting or a runner that needed to be removed. Only these reusable treads. When I inquired about where he put them, he told me he threw them out and it was "a miscommunication". There was zero communication regarding this, no apology, and no offer to replace them. "Rugs or carpets are not belongings" was the response I got when I told him I didn't realize I had to tell him not to discard my belongings. Arguing with me about the definition of belongings was crazy and unprofessional. If someone buys something, they own it, therefore making it something that BELONGS to them which makes it a belonging. No attempt to make it right, no apology, nothing but combative texts with me. Again, no carpet removal, no area rug, no furniture to move, no runner on the steps that people would naturally throw away once ripped up, just defensive behavior. I recovered some of my treads digging in bags of saw dust but not all of them were there as they were in a prior garbage pickup. So I'll need to purchase new ones. Not the end of the world, but it's the point. So if you want good work, he's your guy. If you want professionalism and to not have your purchases/BELONGINGS discarded followed up with defensive and combative responses after inquiring about why they were discarded, then steer very clear of this guy. But who knows, he probably won't have the set to speak to a man that way so ladies beware.
