A lot can go wrong in construction (things can break, design doesn't work due to feasibility, wrong materials delivered) but A to Z did everything they could to make sure it turned out right. Their prices are fair, they have a ton of infrastructure support (2 showrooms, trucks driving around NYC ready to drop off supplies, design services, point of contacts with major retailers, etc.), and they are willing to listen to any concerns along the way. My wife and I were delighted by the beautiful work done by ATOZ Renovations. We're not in the habit of writing rave reviews. (We're New Yorkers after all.) But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. A to Z did our entire kitchen after a kitchen leak from our upstairs neighbors. The projected lasted from mid June - its very final detail completing in November ( the bulk of the project was completed in early September). There were a few design mistakes, in some instances felt like a lack of oversight and the normal delays in getting the materials delivered. In the middle of the kitchen project, we decided to do a little upgrade to our bathroom- vanity, mirror and countertop. The small upgrades made the bathroom look amazing. As an aside, we lived in the same small apartment when the project was going on and they were very respectful of us living there through it. As with any project, there were set backs, but these guys were honest about it along the entire process and fixed whatever mistakes ( that are inevitable in construction) when we brought it to their attention. I can highly recommend A to Z. They just completed a full bathroom renovation for our apartment and we couldn't be happier -- not only with the results (stunning!) but also with the process. Everybody on the construction team was honest, hard working, friendly and in constant communication. Their estimate was lower than their competitors, and I kept waiting for overages or hidden costs. But no. Except for one unanticipated electrical upgrade, their original estimate was the final bill. The entire construction crew did expert work, was very respectful of the building (a 1920's townhouse) and our apartment, and was a pleasure to deal with. Kudos especially to Leo, our project manager who kept in constant communication with us (even when we were overseas) with updates, photos/videos, and advice. Max, Head of Field Operations, for his expertise and guidance, Elie for finishing the job so beautifully and Shevy who handled all insurance and paperwork in a flash! All were skilled, enthusiastic, friendly, and easy to communicate with via text and phone. I've had contractors who disappeared while there are still those last few punch list items. A to Z did a wonderful job on my basement renovation. I found them right here on Yelp and decided to give them a try after seeing all of the positive reviews. They installed new floors, removed my old drop ceiling, redid the kitchen and the bathroom and built 3 new closets. I like that we had a written statement of work that we could refer to if there was any confusion. I also like that their office was well run. Rebecca handled the scheduling and appointments, Shevy would handle payments and invoices, and I worked with Ady on my kitchen and bathroom materials and Max handled other aspects of my project. All of them were great to work with. David was my main point of contact who was always responsive. He was always available via phone or text to answer any questions that I had. Mike, who was the crew chief, was also great and would relay any questions or comments that I had back to David so that everyone was on the same page. The entire team worked consistently and effectively and showed up on a routine schedule which I value. I would definitely work with them and I'm currently in the process of having them scope out some additional work in my home. I will say, however, that A to Z is not cheap. You will pay, but anything that needed fixing or addressing they took care of. One other thing to note is that this was my very first time doing a renovation and I didn't know a lot about the process of getting materials, design choices etc. If you are like me, I would advise that you know what you want and be clear about what you want. David was really good about recommending certain layout choices that I loved but there were things that I didn't think about ahead of time that maybe a design firm would have anticipated vs a general contractor. I am so glad I went with A to Z Renovations for my closet renovation. Shevy, the office manager, was extremely responsive and easy to speak with. I inquired through their website, attached a video of my closet space, and she ACTUALLY watched it -- unlike most contractors I've worked with. Most contractors wouldn't even read my project description or arrive at my unit completely unaware of what they're doing, which, I understand, they're too busy, etc. but still. It was nice not having to repeat myself 500 times to 12 different people before they finally understood my project. When we got on an initial phone call, I could tell immediately that A to Z knew how to run a business. Shevy actually listened to what I was looking for and answered any questions I had about the cost. She also cooperated with my building's strict policy, making the whole process as painless as possible.
