That said, I joined as a member but really haven't used any of their resources as they don't really pertain to me, or I can get the service through the local VA hospital. The demographic of the place is graying very quickly, and I fear that like most of the Veteran run organizations like it will die out within 30 or so years. The biggest problem with these places is that they end up being glorified drinking holes for older people who end up alcoholics, and destroy their livers in the process. Too, being a Vet, I don't always want to hear the stories of the past glories told over and over again. I got out, and though share a kinship with other service members; don't feel a real connection to sitting in places like this. This location in particular really needs to be modernized, or possibly adding a restaurant that serves healthier options for older vets with special diets (low sodium et cetera). It is rich in history, but there isn't a defining book or area designated to telling the stories of those who built the organization, let alone what they do for the community.

Ken, the bartender was friendly and talkative as much as you wanted to talk. The few other customers at the bar were also talkative to strangers. I grew up with a dad who went to these type of halls and they all seem to be stuck in time. Lots of military banners and art around. Besides the generic beer (ie bud) they did serve beer from the local breweries. I found that to be nice and I did enjoy the selection. They have large meeting and dining rooms, some games for the members (you'd have to ask in person - some I didn't get). The place was clean and friendly so if you want to stop in for a quick refreshment they would welcome you. Oh, and they do have a kitchen and food trucks stop by. I didn't try anything off the menu so I have a future task to complete!
