I was here however to collect a parcel that couldn't be delivered and for that I had to go around the back. If you need to do the same, then go through the gate to the right as you look at the front of the PO. OUt the back to the left you'll find a door and a small vestibule, here the nice man will give you your parcel. They only issue I would have is the docket doesn't really say that you need to go around the back and there is one A4 sized notice inside the main PO (that I could see) saying that for collections, go around the back. I'd been caught out before whereby I'd queue and get to the counter, only to be told to go out back. I think in general An Post could be more informative about collection points and where to find them.

This is one of those post offices that still looks like it probably did 50 years ago and i like…read morethis about it, there is no nonsense in here you just get in do your business and get out, you're not distracted by shiny newness or excessiveness. The only things they stock are cards and paper and string and sellotape, the kind of stuff you might need to post something! There are little counters around the edges of the small store for you to write your letter and lick your stamp, nothing fancy just practical. The people behind the counter look like they have been there for years too, not that they look old but more that they treat customers like you think you would have been treated a long time ago and this is a good thing!

This is a great little small post office located on Kevin Street…read more While I havent used it very often I've always been surprised how fast and reliable the service is. The building is quite small which is a minor drawback, but don't be put off if you see a big queue, as I said before the service is fast and reliable. It's probably not the fanciest, cleanest or most comfortable of post offices, but chances are if your going to the post office you are there to do what you need to do and get out, this is the ideal location for that.

My rating - MINUS TEN!!!

It's angles are also very interesting, I do not claim to be a connoisseur when it comes to architecture but it's hard not to notice this building as you enter Dublin.

Very open spacious, modern building it's pleasant to go to. They have a good ticketing system in place and despite long waits in other offices, this one is always very quick and prompt. Staff were friendly and professional, they offered me great advice on how to best renew in the future plus whilst waiting for the official permit they provided me with enough temp permits to keep me tied over which saved me a lot, at the time without the permit I was paying 3.20 per hour to park outside my house! So quick service, friendly and within a week I had my official permit :-)

Q wanders in, you know casually, trying not to look like a criminal... this should be easy... I…read moremean, I'm not actually a criminal in any way that matters (though I have been known to steal the odd glance at a pretty girl.... Oh god, even I thought that was awful) My driving licence has been liberated from my back pocket by some crazed protester who thinks they should be returned to the wild... or just stolen, I'm not sure which. The nice Garda gave me forms to fill in, patted me on the head and tells me not to keep valuables in my back pocket. I immediately removed the antique grandfather clock I had been keeping there and put it somewhere safe. For the law-abiding among you this is a nice place to go when you have to, for those who treat the law like a movable feast it's probably less fun if you end up there.

It was long overdue: at the peak rail schedule, the crossing could be closed for 20 minutes. Add rush hour traffic and you might be waiting 30-40 minutes to cross the tracks. Now it takes 30 seconds. 60, if you catch a red light. Civilization marches ever forward, even out here in Finglas. We'll have proper internet any day now.

Yeats lived here from 1922 to 1928, after which time the house went into disrepair. It was almost in ruin by the time renovations began in the late 1990s. The grandiose marble fireplaces and lavish chandeliers are not original to no. 82, but they were sourced from other buildings around Merrion Square. The main room of interest is the drawing room, where Yeats entertained eminent figures from the Irish literary scene, and performed some of his most famous plays.

Apart from anything else, it's great to get inside a Georgian house on Dublin's most famous Georgian Square, Merrion Square.
