One consideration was a freight train that crossed Marina Bay Parkway which could hold up the traffic but there is an underpass now. There are 'ponds' fountains, mature trees and geese, ducks, seagulls and ravens. It is a block from the Bay Trail and a view of San Francisco. The buildings are two story, with four units on each floor. There are larger buildings, also two story. The buildings are incredibly well maintained, and painted a restful muted color. Each unit has it's own entry so it is more like a house. Some units have a patio looks out on a pond.I bought a smaller condo facing a large pond, with fountain, and a pine tree. There are two outdoor pools and spas....each overlooking a pond. It does feel like you are living in a resort, as friends of mine have commented on. The location at The Shores is beautiful with the Bay Trail, view of the yachts, water and even a few sand beaches. 80% of the residents work and each unit has a separate entrance so it feels more like a home, but I rarely see anyone except someone walking to or from their car. There is no clubhouse or activities yet. There is a small strip mall with a CVS and Starbucks, cafe, cleaners, Italian and Mexican restaurant. You have to drive on 580 to find shops and grocery stores, like Central Ave in Albany to the El Cerrito shopping mall.. The sales team are wonderful...always very friendly, knew me by name even though I didn't drop in frequently. The HOA meetings are well attended. It is a beautiful complex,, very well maintained and landscaped and so much nature, but it is quite remote. Everyone I have talked to love living here.

Key Highlights: 1. Exceptional Team: I've had the pleasure of working with Wilsen, Ahyeza, Chris, Patricia, Jana, Fiona, Nikki, and Ramiro. They are professional, attentive, and easy to collaborate with. 2. Problem Solvers: One of their greatest strengths is that they never shy away from a hard problem. Whether it's a maintenance issue or a tenant concern, they tackle it head-on with a level of responsiveness that is hard to find. 3. Trusted Partnership: When you are looking for a partner to manage an investment property, creating an empathetic and caring relationship with the tenants is the most important factor. They have proven themselves to be reliable stewards of my property. Pro-Tip for Owners: Because they manage a diverse portfolio of both condos and houses, I found that providing clear context on my specific expectations for house-level marketing and maintenance from the start created a great feedback loop. Their receptiveness to this high level of communication is exactly why our partnership works so well; it ensures everyone is aligned from day one. Overall: If you need a team that is responsive and capable of handling the complexities of the Bay Area rental market, I highly recommend The Cal Agents.

I just got my deposit back from my recent (and blessed!) move out of this complex. I lived in a JR 1 bedroom that was roughly 400 square feet, and I only lived there for 6 months, though I was, quite honestly, never actually there. They took out $85 for carpet cleaning (they are claiming that YOU have to pay for carpet cleaning at each move out)...even though, at my last move, I was told I was being charged the same for carpet cleaning on a unit twice the size because I had a dog in the unit. I didn't fight it. Now, I am being charged the same for a unit half the size, that I lived in half the time, that never housed a dog, and was barely even lived in. Interesting.... They then took out $75 for "additional cleaning." On the phone, they are claiming that there were two black scuffs in the shower that needed cleaning and that the oven was dirty. I did self-cleaning on the oven and then scrubbed it myself. Were there still some grease spots on the bottom? Sure. I USED the oven. So sue me. As for the tub, these were scuffs that THEY left in the tub when they placed a ladder in it to fix the ceiling over my tub when the unit above me overflowed their tub and let it leak down in to my unit. Clearly, this was my fault... Seriously, AVOID THIS PLACE. Nickled. dimed, and mistreated isn't even the half of it.
