As a professional wedding photographer, I wasn't sure how easy it was going to be for me to say…read more"yes" to OUR wedding photographer. Having known Chris since High School and having worked with him as an assistant for a wedding he photographed, I knew who he was, I knew his style and I knew his equipment. I was comfortable knowing all of the above, so my now husband, Justin and I went to meet him to discuss options to have him as our photographer. Before walking into the meeting, I had practically made my mind up already that he was who we would book, but I wanted Justin to meet him and I wanted to get those "warm fuzzies" from our conversation. After the meeting, we were thrilled to choose Chris to photograph our big day! First came our engagement shoot; like I said, I am also a photographer, but my goal was to act as though I had never held a camera in my life. Chris and his wife April took the reigns and helped Justin and I with the entire shoot from start to finish. When we saw the final product, we were over the moon!! With the engagement pictures out of the way, we certainly looked forward to what our photos would look like from our BIG day! Prior to our wedding day, Chris took the time to get every detail straight regarding wants/needs to ensure our wedding day was seamless. He showed up with a list on our wedding day of everything that we had discussed! During our ceremony and reception, Chris and his assistant were all over the place but never came across as invasive. In fact, at times I forgot they were there taking pictures (even when they were right in front of my face!). What an amazing time we had! Our wedding day came and went, but Chris is the one who will forever help us to cherish our "perfect" day in the form of his artwork. Our photos are stunning and our friends and family can't say enough good things about them. I would certainly recommend Chris for anyone to use as their wedding photographer, he was and I'm sure always will be, phenomenal. Thanks Chris!

After meeting him in person, I was so certain on having him shoot for our wedding that I declined to meet with other photographers. What stood out to me about Chris was that he dispelled my preconception of wedding photographers as intrusive, and he took great pride and care in his craft that went beyond just working the camera. During the wedding he blended in perfectly and captured beautiful, candid moments of us and our guests. During the still shots, Chris was precise and detail-oriented and the results were fantastic. I was very proud to share his work with our family. Working with Chris was one of the easiest and most enjoyable aspects of our wedding experience and I highly recommend his thoughtful and talented approach to capturing forever memories.

STOP READING YELP REVIEWS! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - CHOOSE THIS GUY!…read more Not only am I VERY pleased with my pictures, but I had a GREAT time during the shoot. Greg is the kind of guy you'd WANT to spend the afternoon with, like an old friend, or a life-coach, a coffee buddy! When trying to find the right photographer, more often than not, you're choosing based on his/her portfolio alone, but that's only the half of it. Being able to establish a great relationship is one of the most important things to consider when selecting a photographer. You want someone that you're comfortable with and someone that can read your personality well enough to capture you at your best. No awkward poses or artistic angles gone awry. Someone who is professional and knowledgable, but also incredibly fun. Greg has all those qualities and more! I felt ridiculously comfortable and trusted him wholeheartedly. He possesses a rare understanding of the performer's perspective in the business. There was a really solid dialogue between the two of us regarding what I was looking for and how I wished to improve upon my old headshots. Before, during and after the shoot, he was exceptionally helpful. Greg also had incredible feedback about wardrobe. (So many times, I feel like the day can easily become about the clothes I'm wearing instead of just getting a fantastically honest picture of me being me!) Greg kept me on task while allowing me to shine. And he would show me pictures on the screen on back of his camera during the shoot and we would talk about what was working and what wasn't. Greg also gives amazing direction... Both emotional and physical/mechanical direction - "Tell me about your favorite thing you did on your most recent trip to Disneyland", "Tilt your head, chin up, shoulder forward, twist your torso just a touch to the..." etc! Whatever I needed, he was right there with encouragement, support and a smile. I couldn't be happier with the whole experience! I would enthusiastically recommend Greg to all my friends and look forward to working with him again in the future!

In a town full of photographers that churn out headshot sessions like the Amish turn out butter, Greg takes the time to get too know you as a performer and a model, bringing your best characteristics to the foreground.

Richard came on time, was very patient with my son who has autism and other disabilities to get the perfect shot. He was able to get my girls to smile and enjoy their picture being taken. The photos came out so beautiful that really captured my kids. Would use them again and highly recommend them.

Finding a wedding photographer was a tough task in my wedding process. All the photographers whose…read morework I admired were way above my budget. All the reasonably-priced photographers work looked more amateur. Also, many photographers had certain time limits. I was getting frustrated and stressed out until I encountered Marsal Studios on a whim (Facebook ad?). Since they were located in Westbook and my wedding was in Old Saybrook, I figured they were geographically convenient. When I e-mailed owner/photographer Virginia Roberts, she immediately got back to me and had a very pleasant tone. So my then-fiance (now husband) and I ventured south to Westbrook to meet Virginia at Marsal Studios (which she co-owns with her husband, Rick) located in the Water's Edge shops. Immediately, Jason and I were drawn to Virginia's gentle demeanor and sincerity. The photos were stunning and the videos were spectacular! For the price, we got two photographers and unlimited time; which was true value considering that most photography studios charged more for one photographer and less amount of time (6 hours). We were so impressed with Marsal Studios that we booked them on the spot! Our wedding day proved that we made the right decision in selecting Virginia and her team at Marsal Studios; they really were some of the hardest working people in the wedding industry. Virginia arrived at my room at 9 a.m. and worked until 11 p.m., when the reception ended. She was very easy to work with and all of my moms and attendants loved having her there. Tom, her assistant, photographed the guys getting ready. Many of our guests were impressed with the amount of shots they took, including two former photographers. From looking at our photos, I was so happy with the outcome, as were the guests! Looking at my wedding album helps me relive the best day of my life. I highly recommend brides-to-be to look into Marsal Studios. Don't worry; they do not try to upsell you anything and you won't be disappointed.

At the time they were one of few…read more(though they claimed the only - which we later found out was not true) that did flush mount albums. My issues came later when prior to my wedding I wanted to provide him with a list of portraits I wanted to be sure to capture he told me he didn't do that to have someone at the wedding handle that. There were also some detail shots I would have wanted that were never taken - again because he wouldn't take the list. Now I realize this all sounds very bridezilla like but there were certain individuals I wanted to be certain got included in portraits - my 90 year old aunt that has since passed away, my 15 year old cousin who was a bridesmaid and wasn't in the bridal party shots because there wasn't anyone really keeping track of who needed to stay and go. The detail shots I would have sucked up...but the people, that's a true loss to me. Additionally we had been told they could do some airbrushing and had for our engagement sessions (airbrushed out a manufacturing plant in the background) when asked if they could do the same for a couple of portraits they told us they couldn't without up charging. In the end the album is beautiful and still gets rave compliments but the customer service side wasn't where I'd have liked it to be. If you're okay with letting them handle everything, then you will be thrilled with their work, but if you want input - I'd ask some very pointed questions before hiring to make sure you feel comfortable.
