This might be the nicest hotel/resort I have ever been to in my life...and by nicest I mean…read moreluxurious, comfortable, relaxing, charming, expansive and much much more. Lets start with the wonderfully friendly and efficient staff. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with smiling faces. Everyone seemingly loves there job...I get it as its a wonderful place to be. We had a sea view suite and they added 2 roll away cots in the sitting area for our children. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. We had a great patio where we could sit and have a glass of wine while they slept. My husband played golf 3 of the 4 days and said it was a great course (I believe you have to have a handicap to play, otherwise he would have taken my 8 year old son with him one of the days.) We never left the hotel for a meal as the food is so good. Usually we try to find some authentic local food restaurants, but Finca Cortesin ropes you in so that you don't want to leave. We ate at Don Giovanni 2 nights which we loved. We found the pizzas and pasts to be excellent and a great atmosphere just across the road from the front entrance. We had lunch one day at the beach club which is pricey for children (no kids menu) but enjoyable with a bottle of rose, paella and some great salad options. One night we fed the kids at the more casual bar patio which has bar food and a children's menu (very reasonably priced kids food) and brought them upstairs to bed so we could try the adults only Raw Kabuki restaurant which is very expensive but absolutely delicious--sashimi, fried rice, tempura, carpaccio--small, excellent and not stuffy. Again, the servers made the whole experience terrific. I would be extremely remiss if I didn't mention the breakfast--best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel. You are given fresh yogurt, fruit, a fresh bread basket with an excellent assortment of goodies and of course parma ham, manchego cheese etc and then....you can order a la cart in addition. My husband had the eggs benedict every day because it was that good. My daughter said the french toast was the best she has ever had (and I think I make a pretty mean french toast.) And my son loved the pancakes, french toast and eggs benedict...while I was quite happy with the bread basket and the assortment of other goodies. The pools and the beach club were just so picturesque, I could have moved right in...We would go right to the pool after breakfast and wouldn't leave until 6-7pm. It was pure heaven. We did have the opportunity to see the cottages and they were huge. You could easily fit 2 families of 4 in a cottage--they have a gourmet kitchen, 4 bedrooms and its own infinity pool. I wish I was still there!! But I guess if every day were a vacation, vacation wouldn't feel so special...though living at Finca Cortesin sure sounds good as I write this review!!

What really broke the camel's back after 2 days in, was that the entire house reeked like sewage. Hubs Google mapped Guadalmina as our final and God-send destination to continue celebrating my birthday. Guadalmina opens up with grand style. Lots of terracotta, high ceilings, wood beams and porcelain tiles to give the entrance that Marbella touch and elegance. The hosts (and there were several) were pleasant. Compared to where we came from, our room was equipped with a balcony+sea view, TV, twin beds made into a Queen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, air conditioning, bathtub with shower head and a few other necessities. There is no valet and when hubs asked the doorman/greeter to park it, all he said was, "we don't do that here because everyone parks their own car...but if you want me to, I will". Ok then, so no valet. Restaurant on site is put together and crisp. Complimentary breakfast/brunch buffet was real spread with quality offerings including bubbly and fresh squeezed oj at your convenience. Pool access+chairs is €0. Beach access however, will cost you €20 but that gives you the entire day to dip and sunbathe as often as you like in a given day, you can take breaks in between and can leave the premises if you want. Cocktails at the pool bar are weak so I suggest you keep your money in your pocket. For an exclusive hotel and for what hubs paid for- for 4 days, it DID NOT include: bottled water (which sold for €4. Really???), iron was missing (I did a MacGyver and used the hair blower to get rid of wrinkles on clothes), bathroom essentials or wastebasket baggies. Overall, Guadalmina was a nice stay in Marbella and a stone's throw away from the beach.

Ever one with an eye for a bargain, I snapped up a room here for my recent trip The main hassle is that it is located a little out of town compared to some other hotels but nothing unmanageable. Its location is a little confusing on Google Maps where it is placed incorrectly - it is literally next door to the Palacio de Congresos exhibition centre. It took me 20 minutes to walk downhill to the hotel from Marbella bus station It's a 5 minute stroll down to the beach and within 5 minutes of walking along the pleasantly tarmaced beachside walk, you'll hit the strip of restaurants and retail shops which will line your whole path right up into town. Taking this scenic route means you'll take about 25-30 minutes to get to the Old Town area but taking the direct walk on the main road will probably get you there in 20 minutes. The best beach area is at the end closer to the Senator hotel. The town end becomes quite pebbly. There are lots of areas with static umbrellas for hire if it's too hot and I do like the provision of public showers at the beach The Senator is classed as 4 star and the large spacious rooms and public areas do reflect the little bit of luxury associated with a higher class hotel. There was free cold water and juice available in the public lounge The bedrooms come with a little balcony but there's no seaview, being a little inland. Perhaps dealing with shortcomings mentioned in reviews on another review website, there's now air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan in the room. Free wifi is also available in all bedrooms though I was a little disappointed to find that the basic (ie slower) wifi was free but a premium (ie paid) option promised faster speeds. It wasn't unusable but was certanly frustrating at times Perhaps my favourite feature of the hotel was the rooftop pool and hot tubs. There was a fantastic view of the sea and mountains and I spent a very pleasant afternoon on my deckchair soaking up some rays The spa area was a little odd - common changing room for both sexes with no obvious private cubicles for changing in. However, the facilities were amazing. Large pool with multiple hot tubs, various massage jet options, steam rooms (clothed and ahem continental style), an ice room and plunge pools. The spa area is very big and I also whiled away some hours down here The breakfast option is worth paying extra for. There's a large selection of cold meats, fresh fruit (I ate a lot of watermelon and pineapple!), cereals, yoghurts, bread and croissants. They also cook bacon, eggs and omelettes to order. A good start to the day The other reason I stayed at this end of town is that it was very close to the Melia Don Pepe hotel, which housed Calima, a restaurant where I ate my second favourite meal ever Currently my favourite hotel in Marbella until I rob a bank to get enough money to stay at the Melia Don Pepe!
