I felt the medical bills were extremely high, including a CT scan that ended up costing over $40,000. It left me feeling like the medical costs significantly affected the outcome of my settlement. I was seriously injured in the accident, yet the initial settlement offer for me was almost the same as what they offered my daughter, despite the difference in our injuries. I had to fight to receive what I believed was a fair amount. It also felt like my case did not receive the attention it deserved because the firm was handling so many other cases. Overall, I was left frustrated with the communication, the professionalism, and the way my case was handled. Looking back, I believe the representation I received resulted in an extremely unfavorable outcome that continues to affect my relationship with my children. Since the divorce was finalized, I have consulted with two separate family law firms to evaluate whether a modification of my current custody and visitation order is possible. Both attorneys expressed significant concerns regarding the terms of the decree and visitation schedule that were negotiated and entered in my case. Both advised that a modification appears warranted based on the circumstances. However, one attorney stated that they would explore whether portions of the original order could potentially be thrown out & redone due to how one-sided they believed the agreement to be. The other advised that while they would work to improve the current order, correcting the issues would be difficult because of the terms already in place. What is most frustrating is that I relied on Mr. Longworth's advice when deciding whether to agree to the terms of the settlement. I was led to believe that the provisions were standard and necessary under the circumstances. After obtaining independent legal opinions, I no longer believe that was the case.
