The first place is no longer in business...the second place (this one) is closed for the winter...the third place is some weird house that isn't actually an antique store. Since the sign says it's "closed for the season", we were forced to look in the windows, peak in the door, and scroll through their Facebook page while we were standing on the sidewalk. Apparently, PBA has been open since 2015. They look like an average, smallish antique store. But you never know when you might find a hidden treasure - right? The owner is very passionate and knowledgeable about the art in the shop, and has some truly beautiful pieces of art. As we are also in a pandemic right now, I noticed and appreciated how signs were posted stating the local and state laws mandating masks and social distancing within the store. Everyone within the stores - both Pride of the Nations and the connected chocolate shop - wore masks and maintained cleanliness and social distancing. I could see how everything was very clean and that even given how difficult things are for small businesses in this pandemic, the owner and store was took great care in masking and cleanliness as well as being very kind and knowledgeable about the works of art within the store. I ended up buying a beautiful horse ceremonial pipe as well as a beautiful small horsehair pot - both made by actual Indigenous artists. I would recommend stopping here even if you are not extremely interested in Native American art as the works and passionate store owner make it a stop worth making! Additionally, having the chocolate shop with a plethora of options for any sweet tooth is a delicious bonus!

Lakeside Antiques is, hands down, the best antique store in Lake City!…read more Lakeside is easily the number one antique store in town and the best anywhere within an hour drive either direction on Highway 61. Lakeside isn't huge but it's packed with quality merchandise. This seems to primarily to be because it isn't an antique "mall", it's family owned by a husband and wife. So they're free to sell whatever they want...instead of a ton of vendors cramming little nick nacks into little spaces. The owners definitely know their stuff and they definitely have an eye for quality and unique items. It shows. As a side note, I noticed that they have a fair amount of Red Wing Pottery items throughout the store. They also have a good number of Hamms Beer items peppered around the store. It's the perfect distance from Lake City (10 min drive?) and Redwing so if you're staying in either, then you're able to take a short little road trip. I think one of the things I really love about this place is how their antiques are in such good condition. A lot of times, when I go to antique stores there's always a stain or something on the clothes but I've never found anything like that at the store, which I really applaud them for. It shows how selective and intentional they are with the pieces that they keep in their store. It's not super easy to find a three-piece suits or two piece sets from 50 or 60 years ago. Especially in the condition they're in here (see: red 3 piece set) It's really well organized which I can't say that for all antique stores. And if you're into crystals, cacti or air plants, they also have those in store too. They got plenty of artsy books. And I believe they do have fitting rooms so I've personally never use them. They do have Apple Pay, which is really nice for me who always forgets to bring her card places. And if nothing else, you'll probably get a good photo for your VSCO, when stopping by.
