Easy hike, terrain is not difficult footing even for kids. Parking lot right near trailhead, and seems like parking is not hugely popular so you're likely to get a spot. Cons: Looooooooong drive up... get ready to play I Spy with your kids for a good 20 minutes. Also if your passengers are prone to motion sickness, this isn't the greatest drive. Service vehicles also use the trail so if you have kids you'll need to keep them close by. Some areas may be muddy in winter months. If the bottom of the mountain is cold, it is WAY colder up here. Bring far more clothing than you might think is necessary.

I was concerned I might accidentally run over a duck when I left. Very cute regardless, especially hearing the pitter patter of duck feet hustling across the pavement. Additionally, I was treated to a couple of roosters singing their customary morning greeting. Sorry, no pictures of the roosters or ducks, I was still waking up and I was concerned when the ducks fearlessly approached my vehicle. Perhaps, next time?

Clean bathrooms and showers. Clean sites. There's a pool. Shore power hookups. Water hookups. Nice shades at some sites (site 20 and higher are the better sites.) There are a couple sites that don't have much shade. Our weekend here was quiet and relaxing. The other guests mostly stayed in their campers/rvs. The 100 degrees temperatures probably had something to do with it. The campground met all our needs. We setup camp here and then explore the surrounding Clearlake community outside the grounds. We went to lake, the local community park where there was a Shakespeare play happening. We enjoyed a farmers market about 20 mins away.

The campers placed directly next…read moreto us were loud, disruptive, and inconsiderate well into the night, making noise until around 3:30 a.m. I was told quiet hours were enforced. We paid for a campsite expecting a reasonable night's sleep and instead spent most of the night awake listening to our neighbors. Because we got virtually no sleep, we made the decision to leave a day early. When I texted the host, I wasn't even asking for a refund--I simply requested a complimentary night for a future stay as a goodwill gesture. The request was immediately denied because of their "no refunds for early departure" policy. The issue isn't that we left early. The issue is that the campground did not provide the quiet, enjoyable experience that guests are paying for. Hiding behind a policy while ignoring the reason a guest is leaving is poor customer service and shows a complete lack of concern for the guest experience. If you're looking for a peaceful campground, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Folks show up early to stake their claim for prime space, even before the bands show up to start getting ready for their shows. There are food trucks, and sponsor booths giving away various items during the concerts. I was quite impressed with the play equipment the City installed for the community, as well as the fact that they maintain restrooms for public use. I can only hope the concerts continues on for many years to come.

Who names their park "Library", they do. The whole town was there with beach chairs and the band was playing Beatles songs. Food trucks there. Shave ice with more than 20 flavors and you help yourself. How cool. Kids swimming. Raffle winners being announced. I think they have a concert once a month on Friday nights. Look for the flyer or Google it. Summer series. Plenty of picnic tables, playground, and restroom. Bring your chairs and find your spot. Dance the night away.

We were looking for a place to camp this year and since we no longer want to camp in a tent, I was…read morelooking for a cabin. There are very few within a 3-4 hour distance from where I live and most go quickly. I was fortunate to find a cabin at Clear Lake and we booked for two nights in the middle of the week. That is easier to find than the weekends. We went in early July and the weather was perfect, traffic getting there was clear as well since it was midweek, the last 10 miles winding into the mountains was a bit scary and tiresome but well worth the drive. Someone from the park called that day to check when we would be arriving so they could arrange check in. We got there around 3:30 and check in, which was easy. Note that if you are going to a cabin, make that clear, the attendant assumed that it was a tent site and told us that the particular site was reserved for employees. As I was getting to the point that I was getting upset, he realized that I was talking about a cabin. I didn't realize that I had to clarify that. They gave me a map to the park, which is quite large and very beautiful. Lots of tent camping sites but only one area for the cabins. The only downside was that the cabins, about 10 of them, are very close to each other. Each cabin has 2 bunk beds, a picnic table, a counter top and open closet. They also have electricity and A/C, all on timers. I love that the cabins have Dutch doors! Bathrooms are very close to the cabins and the parking. You have to pay for the showers and buy the tokens from the camp host who lives right by the cabins. You are not allowed to put up a tent in the cabin area. All the cabins have picnic tables and fire pits and they all face a beautiful meadow that is private to the cabins. The park has lots of hiking trails, dogs are welcome, an area for swimming and for fishing. I believe you can rent boats but since we did not do that, I am not 100% positive. The water was not clear but we had a great time swimming and trying to catch fish, we did not succeed but it was one of the best camping trips in memory. I can write pages but in summary, it was a fantastic experience with many wineries within 15-30 minutes from the entrance of the park. I would highly recommend.

It even had AC, which we didn't need to use. But what surprised me the most was the amount of wildlife we saw in less than 24 hours. We saw deer families on two occasions, a gray fox, osprey, great blue herons, black crowned herons, Asian bullfrogs (invasive) and their tadpoles, grebes, quail, scrub jays, ducks, squirrels (of course), etc. (We did not see any otters of beavers- maybe next time.) The campsites looked clean and serene. The beach area likewise. And all the people who worked there were friendly (entrance booth, site host, rangers). Overall, one of the best "camping" experiences ever in my 65 years.
