It was a long procedure and the dentist and his assistance checked in with me multiple times to see how I was doing and helping me to be comfortable. Initially the front office had told me that they would not be able to verify my insurance because it was the weekend (and even suggested that I might come back the next day), but when the crown procedure was diagnosed and recommended they were able to verify the insurance (which covered 50 percent of the cost). Very glad to have landed in this office and might choose to use them for non-emergency dental work as well.

Despite this, my entire half day was wasted before they completed my cleaning. Six months later, I returned for my scheduled appointment only to be told I had to complete the same small X-rays or "take my business somewhere else." although they already completed panoramic X-rays. They wasted my time at both appointments, as if I didn't have work or other responsibilities. The lack of professionalism, communication, and compassion was extremely disappointing.

I left my last dentist because she does not accept Medicare Advantage. I do have gum disease, however, my pockets have been holding steady at 5's for the last 20 years. Is it a coincidence that within one year of seeing this hygienist, my pockets have all of the sudden increased to 7's? I guess I'll never know the answer to that. My last appointment with them was for a cleaning in October of 2024. During this appointment Yer Lee (the hygienist), pierced my lower lip with her dental tools. It took approximately 1 1/2 weeks for the swelling to go down. Her reaction to the piercing was: "It's ok". My reaction: "No it's NOT OK". She also smeared fluoride all over my teeth (even though in my last appointment, I specifically stated that I don't want that treatment. After researching it, I found that the ADA states " Fluoride must be ingested, topical fluoride is ineffective". Plus, I have a bridge for my upper 6 teeth (i.e. they are fake teeth). Yer Lee is obviously not smart enough to realize that fluoride, even if the ADA had thought that it was effective, can NOT be absorbed by fake teeth. When I called to cancel my next appointment and ask that my dental records be sent to my new dentist, the office staff wasn't even curious as to WHY I was leaving their facility for another. Her attitude was almost as if they get lots of these requests.

Also, he has done some oral surgery for me as I had an infection and I did not feel any pain, and it healed so fast the way he did it with his procedure. His assistant removed some sutures the other day and I did not feel a thing, she seems to be an expert ! I will be getting an implant soon where my broken tooth was removed. I would strongly recommend seeing Dr. Kumar to remove broken teeth at the gum line as he has great techniques to help you. Implants are available for you also, he does great work ! In May, almost two months ago, I went in for a quick exam to evaluate a sharp pain in one spot on one tooth. I saw Dr. Lam and she tapped around that tooth but couldn't find the spot that was causing my pain. The pain had only been there for around two weeks, which she said wasn't long enough to investigate further. She suggested it was from clenching my teeth at night and recommended a night guard. I have had brief episodes of clenching in the past and it results in a totally different dull jaw ache so I said I really did not think that was the issue. I also already have a night guard. I then proceeded to leave town for almost two months and decided to just avoid hitting that tooth until I could come back and have it checked out again. I had told them I might go to another clinic while I was out of town but ultimately decided to wait because I overall trusted Almond and wanted continuity. Last week, I scheduled an appointment for this afternoon. This morning, I got a call informing me that my appointment was being canceled because Dr. Lam didn't want to see me and none of the other dentists wanted to take over. All because I disagreed with her initial conclusion after a 10 minute exam, based on knowing what normal and abnormal pain is like in the teeth I've had for 25+ years. I am still in disbelief that this is how Almond operates.

Also, we have tranferred to another dentist after several years with this office, due to them telling us we could not make any more appointments because I had to reschedule a few due to school obligations, even though we gave notice. It's our fault we had to cancel, but their hours are limited and not very compatible with school or work hours.

A very friendly receptionist called me the next morning and I was given an appointment the following day. Their schedule is very flexible and I am grateful they were able to see me so quickly. I went in for a routine exam/cleaning and found I had two cavities. They were able to get them filled in that appointment and took scans for retainers so my teeth don't shift (sorry, mom, the dog ate mine from grade school). All in the same appointment! Every staff member I interacted with was warm and pleasant. Special shout out to Paige for her exceptional care and consideration. She was sure to explain everything that was happening or going to happen throughout the entire appointment. Truly a top notch dental assistant! Dr. Christoper Coulter was wonderful as well and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process and took special measures to ensure maximum comfort and satisfaction during a dreaded process. Monika was the dental hygienist that cleaned my teeth and she also took special measures to ensure I understood what she was looking for and how the process was going to work. Overall, no one really enjoys going to the dentist, but this place is top notch. By far the best dental clinic I have ever been to.
