Anyways, we went in, the nice, well dressed fella came over to us, showed us around the shop and then did his wee measuring and suchlike on my Dad. I pondered around looking at shirts, some costing more than I earn in a week, but all of them looked really good and really fashionable. My Dad is under the impression everyone should have a good shirt, like a proper one that is expensive and stuff, not like a Primark one that has all the buttons. Anyways, they made the shirt exactly the way Dad wanted, and rang when it was available for collection. The shirt was perfect and the service was top notch. The only downside is that the price of some of the shirts is quite high which is a disappointment because I wont be able to afford them for some time. But the quality and service cannot be faulted. LIke the shop, upstairs offers excellent quality and finishing certainly in the sleek wood panelled surroundings. Amongst the clientele were people who might well avail of the clothes in here. The quality of the coffee that I ordered was of a similar standard, though relatively more affordable. I confess that my feet gave out, so I went back to our hotel. 40 minutes later, my husband sent an SOS--"we might be in trouble-- please come here." Dutifully, I put on my shoes, trotted to North and saw the trouble was potential bankruptcy. Because everything in the store is top notch and well worth its asking price. My purpose there was to rein in purchases. Instead I saw a gorgeous claret colored tweed overcoat, pulled it out, and wouldn't you know it fit my son in the shoulders perfectly. The fellow in the shop when we were there -- Turbo --was amazing. Honestly--just keep prodding him to learn more about how the store is stocked and the garments are made. He and his partner buy lovely hats, belts, luggage, and they design gorgeous shirts, waistcoats, jackets, suits, and overcoats. He even showed us a photo of the master weaver who creates their tweed. Now you are thinking that you can't possibly afford anything here. In fact, we found the prices remarkably fair. I have paid more money for lesser quality garments. My only regret is that we didn't have more time in Belfast -- and of course that I didn't think until they were closed to ask about how to purchase and tailor a coat to fit me. Needless to say, we will be watching their website, and next time we are in Belfast, this remarkable shop will be our first stop.

I am a complete novice when it comes to suits and so to be so helpful and knowledgable made the process very simple. One of the nice touches about Bogart is that if I were to put some wait on over the Xmas period an alteration would be free. In my search or a suit I tried House of Fraser. It would have been a more costly option and I was not convinced by their knowledge of what was best. Alterations would have come at more if they were needed and was not an addition to the service there. Bogart know suits and I won't be going anywhere else for mine from now on.

However, as SD Kells is a well-known family brand, I felt inclined even to go in and take a look. The suits are terrific in that you know if you buy one, you will (a) look good and (b) will save it for only the most special occasion. As the SD Kells at home is famed for selling school uniforms, it was nice for me to go into a grown-up SD Kells which doesn't have my horrible blazer advertised in the window. Although the clothes in this shop are very nice, (even the casual things are really good which for a dressy shop is quite surprising) but they are really pricey and at £200 a suit, it is not the sort of place you would go to to get suits for work. It is really expensive. If you are looking for a particularly nice suit, this should be the first stop on your journey. You are bound to find something to "suit" you (I apologise)

Just a five minute drive from the city centre, Boucher Road has quite a few shops in it, most of which are located in Boucher Crescent Retail Park or Shane Retail Park (see my review on Shane retail park). There are men and women's clothing shops (River Island, Next, Burton, the Jeanery...), a sports shop, HMV, Starbuck's, Boots... the list goes on. There's a hell of a lot of space dedicated to parking here, but it can still be very difficult to get a space on a Saturday or Sunday. It's not a mall type place where you can get lost in, it's one of those places where the shops are all lined up in a row and you come out of one shop and into the next one - good for methodical shoppers, or those who don't have a lot of time. The downside is that the traffic on the Boucher Road can be crazy between 4 and 6p.m. But, if you're a visitor and you're out for a day's shopping, get yourself a 'day ticket' (see my Translink review) and you can take a trip up here before/after shopping in the city centre.

River Island is my sort of shop. The clothes are as fresh and modern as you are going to get, they…read moreusually have something reduced which benefits me, the staff are always reserved enough to ask you if you need a hand but then not annoy you if you said you don't, and most importantly it is usually quiet. It is grand walking around a DVD shop or Tescos if it is mad busy, but if I go in to buy a pair of jeans, I want to be left to do it in peace. That is what River Island offers you. Sanctuary and shopping (that sounds clever). For Christmas I was given vouchers to spend in this shop and so I took myself in when I should have been in the library and then wandered around at my own leisure and bought myself some jeans and a shirt which look stunning if I may say so myself... you can compliment me too if you want. The River Island brand does not suit everyone. But with a well stocked mens floor and an even better stocked women's floor, the chances are you are going to find something you want. It is a pleasant shopping experience and with the clothes relatively cheap and the music relatively current, it's good for all.

Mostly River Island is known for unclassy clothes for dolly birds with everything on show (Meaooow!) and they have the annoying fascination of adorning everything with sequins or plastic jewels. Seriously, what gives? Anyway River Islands redeeming point is that they have started selling stuff from London graduate week and the new graduates stuff is edgy, fresh and cool. My sister got a rocking beaded bag here with a brown fringing which looks brilliant for festivals. Also recently I met the loves of my life in here, a pair of leather clogs! It was love at first sight! They also do a decent line in tailored trousers and some alright t-shirts.

I think that sifting…read morethrough clothes is the reason that people shop at TK Maxx, they enjoy the excitement and the possibility of getting a real bargain. Sifting isn't actually too bad at this TK Maxx as the staff keep the rails in pretty good order. Belfast now has plenty of fashion outlets but it doesn't have much similar to TK Maxx. This store is huge and set over 3 floors. It has a woman's section, kids section, men's section and even a dedicated jewelry counter. My advice would be that if you are looking for something specific then come to TK Maxx and see if they have it in store, you could save yourself a few quid.

Tkmax is a huge department store with men/women clothes, footwear, homeware, food, kids toys,…read moreluggage and general random things like frames and art. It's all supposed to be 60% less than regular high street prices. There are always was/now prices to give idea of prices. The home department is my favourite part.
