The clothes are chiefly of interest to women seeking a good quality basics in smart casual in some instances quite formal wear and I suppose, because of the prices involved - at least £80 - £100, for skirts and dresses, or around £40 for a long sleeved T shirt - it's more of a 30+ market. The sizes can be misleading - a size 10 in Jigsaw is actually much bigger than that. However the staff are pleasant and helpful I find. The shop also, usefully, will get your trousers for instance turned up for much the much the same as you would pay elsewhere for alterations, something I made use of once. It was worth it because if it hadn't been for that I would not have bought the trousers that went on to be indispensable for ages afterwards

It strikes me as the same kinda place as Wallis in that they offer classic style and don't follow faddy trends. They offer a lot of smart tailoring and are great for basics like crisp white shirts, trouser suits and jackets. It's a great place to come for quality office wear. Whilst you will pay for it, with prices clocking in at around £100 for a good suit, at least you know the stuff will last you a few years. It's not a shop for my age group (mid-twenties) but is certainly aimed at clued in 30 plus women with a bit of style.

This kind of annoys me as I don't see why women should have more choice than us men (damn feminism!). I think it is for this reason that I'd pick Burtons over New Look as it is only men's clothes shop and they do pretty much the same styles. I recently came here to stock up on some essential clothes for going back to university this year. They have their traditional offer of 3 for £12 on t-shirts but what I've noticed is that a lot of people have bought into this idea so everybody has ended up wearing the same t-shirts. If you're looking for casual clothes I think this place is alright but in my opinion I believe the place is more aimed at women and men's clothes was a mere after thought so for that reason I try to avoid this place unless there is some eye-catching bargain on.

I approached a girl and she couldn't have been more happier to help! She checked their stock and other stores and when they were all out of stock she couldn't apologise enough! She walked round with me and showed me other similar items and checked for my size. I finally found one as she chatted away to me and when i was leaving she pleasantly said thank you and told me to enjoy the rest of my day! Working in retail at busy times of the year can be stressful as i have done it myself and yet these girls in New Look were very helpful and happy to help! It is not often you find retail assistants like the ones in this store so i just thought they deserved a bit of recognition! Happy Easter weekend ps I hope the boss reads this :)

It was nice to see that they had Disney stuff as most places don't and if they do, they charge an arm and a leg. At least in the states. The staff is super helpful and even helped me find sizes. The place was stocked and we'll maintained. Yes they do get alot of customers and so having some mess is going to happen. Even the woman at the cash register was helpful and neatly put the merchandise in the bag. Way different then the service u get in the states.

Dune is an expensive little shop which has shoes aimed at people with deep purses. She tried on some high heel thing which looked painful to walk in but funnily enough it turned out to be "really comfortable" and "worth getting". I didn't buy any for her. Nicely laid out and with quite a classy feel to it I enjoyed my quick circuit of the shop. The staff were pleasant enough, maybe I even got a few smiles of pity as the lone male on the premises. There was the usual chic collection of shoes and boots plus some truly over the top sparkly stilettos for the more adventurous ladies. Some expensive looking bags were dotted around the shop as well, cleverly coordinating with shoes or boots nearby to create a clever 'must have' effect. According to the partner, selection was great if a bit pricey. Pros: Very pleasant shop and staff. Cons: Ladies only.

I first got to know the Office chain in London and it's always maintained the same standard of edgy trendiness combined with mixed quality. Also their stock in Belfast is pretty much on a par with London, so there's some comfort in the knowledge that we are not in a complete backwater over here. Some of the shoes not of the best manufacture and consequently passing fashion triumphs over comfort, but there is a balance of shoes and boots that are a cut above that. However, despite the vagaries I seem to end up buying something here just about every year. You have to keep an eye on this shop because sometimes I think the better stuff sells out quickly. In general Office is quite good - though the choice is probably better for women than for men.

Built in the "Schuh" mould Office is still a little bit on the expensive side. You can often find shoes they sell directly from the maker or website for a whole lot cheaper. But one thing that weighs heavily in Office's favour is that when it puts on sales it is well worth being first in line as they really do slash their prices. I got a lovely pair of Fred Perry plimsolls at 50% off but the amazing thing is that other shops were still selling the exact same shoes at full price. All in all Office is the place to go if you want a quality pair of shoes or are not sure what you want. But my advice would be to be on the look out for an Office sale.

In fact, it's one of the only independent shops in the city centre these days, which is nice. Liberty Blue tends not to follow any trends and instead trusts their customers discerning eyes. When I was at college in the city, I used to come here and browse through the rails of clothes hoping that all the studying would pay off and I would land a top newspaper job so I could buy all these lovely clothes. Seriously, I used to motivate myself to work harder by lusting after clothes I couldn't afford. It works! The window displays are usually very striking and are the thing that draw most punters in off the street. Inside the store is beautifully laid out, it's the kind of place which is a pleasure just to come in and browse around. There are cutesy skirts, cool Edie Sedgwick t-shirts, gorgeous dresses, both casual and fancy, Audrey Hepburn style cardigans and good music to boot. On display in the middle table there are some handmade broaches, rings and jewellery trinkets, funky tights and a battered old suitcase with some vintage belts in every imaginable colour- a snip at £4 each or 3 for £10. The jewellery also deserves a special mention, the necklaces are really cool, chic and very charming. Long gold chains with bird cages or little gold Eiffel towers. These necklaces have done me for many birthday presents this year, they all come moderately priced too. The assistants are really friendly and always make a point of saying hello, which is a really nice touch I think. Check out the sale rail down the back for some bargains. Prices vary and should suit all customers. The more expensive party dresses range from £50-£70 and there are really good quality dresses from about £20. Definitely cheaper than their contemporaries Topshop and Urban Outfitters. I don't mind paying money for something quality that looks unique and it's always an added plus to be supporting such a fabulous and unique local business.
