I was quoted 2-3 weeks, when I followed up 2 months later they discovered that the unit had been sitting ready for pickup for a long time and no one reached out to me to tell me it was ready. If I had to guess, it seems like the repair folks are swamped with work and that they're constantly asked to prioritize items that are going to the sales floor over local customer repairs. Sad, this used to be my favorite shop in Seattle. Now it feels like they target the tech-salary or boomer collector over working musicians, and all the charm and relatability is gone. Won't be back.

Very cool. Playing them without plugging them in makes them very quiet. So you can play them in places where they might not appreciate you plugging it in and turning it up, like maybe your apartment at 2 AM. My only thing is that there are as yet no Tenor Ukuleles. (insert sad face here) I would definitely buy one if there were, but then again I may just get impatient and buy a concert scale uke. Where to start? Robert has done 3 jobs for me in the past year. First, he setup an Epiphone 339…read morethat looked great but didn't sound so hot. After his setup it sings and is now my favorite guitar. Next, I gave him a VOX Guardsman amp that had some static issues. He checked and cleaned every connection. When I got it back it sounded clean and loud. Next, he did a repair/restoration of an old LP that I did not take a care of. He straightened the neck, installed new frets, gold hardware and tuners, adjusted the nut and polished the whole thing. Robert returned it to factory condition. The neck is straight and the action is sublime. The quality of Robert's work is very high and he is equally gifted with instruments and amps which is rare. Additionaly, Robert is really easy to work with, a great communicator and his rates are super reasonable. I am very glad I found him and will be bringing him more work. I've had some good repairs before but Robert and Smithway are the best I have experienced.
