Premier Fishing lodge in Northern Ontario. The fishing was unbelievable. The Guides have intimate knowledge of Eagle Lake. They can keep you on fish even on the toughest days. The guide staff share their knowledge of the lake and the best techniques to catch fish in a friendly manner. We caught Smallmouth,Walleyes, Northerns till our arms fell off. The boats are well equipped and offer a comfortable ride. All the staff at the lodge make you feel welcome and like family. The dock crew to the housekeeping and dinning room staff-all were very friendly. The accommodations are very comfortable and clean. I could not leave this review without mentioning the Food. I was told by the owner, Julian, that a bad review doesn't matter to him because of the many other wonderful reviews. BUT the terrible experience I had should be shared. When I first made my reservation, I was promised a NEWER unit with a Queen bed, one bedroom. My mistake not getting it in writing. When my husband and I checked in, we received a 2-bedroom small unit with 2 full size beds. IT WAS A TOTALLY DUMP.!!! The tiny screened in sunroom made of cheap OSB with insulation falling from the ceiling. The small deck was old and falling apart. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets had broken handles; light switches did not work. The bathroom shower, if you call it that was no better than a cold spray from a garden hose. I ran the shower for 15 minutes and couldn't get a lukewarm tickle of water at best. This unit costs $700 per night!! Also, when the reservation was made, we requested a guide for our first day of fishing. Checking with Julian, he didn't know what day during our stay a guide would be available. We voiced our concerns and issues to Julian. The uncaring Julian offered no solutions and could care less if we stayed or left. We left after one day. I am so sad and disappointed that these terrible living conditions ruined my dream of fishing in Canada. This is a continuation of the review I was writing when it posted I believe. Never used Yelp before. The food was not very good. This opinion was shared by the other people at the table. I don't believe it was the cooks fault. You have to have the ingredients. I found out the last day, that if you ordered scrambled eggs they came out of a plastic jug. Not a cracked egg. They wasted a lot of food. I could save them a lot of money. Everyone's juice glass is already filled when you come to the table??? Most gets thrown out. Put the containers of juice in a tray of ice, and let people poor their own of what they want. No waste. Prefilled plates of the main course and the fixings. Some of it most people didn't or couldn't eat for various reasons. Again, a waste. It goes on. Over all, nothing special. Fishing is good and fun. Nice boats and equipment, and a couple of the dock boys were very helpful. Most of the people were tipping as they go. Then at the end, they give you three envelopes for you tips. Again, communication. They need to inform the guest of this system. We has tipped everyone except housekeeping, which we did when we left. They wanted 80 to 100 dollars a day per person in the boat for the guides. I wonder how the musky fisherman who "saw" only one musky felt about that? People seem to like it. It has a good reputation, but there were several disgruntled fisherman we talked to. Complaints from no communication, late guides, food is questionable, no dock hands when needed, not so good beds. This was our second time there and I think it was our last. Also, not much thought or effort put into the docks. We watched several people struggle down the steps and on fall trying to step down to a dock. Wouldn't pass a safety inspection. Wondered what there insurance company would think. Very nice lake and lodge though. Some of the nicest mounted fish I have ever seen. Still, won't go back. Sorry. read more

Had a great time fishing while staying at this lodge. Our guide, Gordie, was great as was the entire staff during our stay. The accommodations and boat equipment was top notch. And Julian, the owner, made us feel right at home. This is our second stay at the Lodge and we plan on going to this Lodge yearly. read more

I've been going to Andy Myers for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. The fishing on Eagle Lake is phenomenal - I've caught my personal best musky there (52"). The guides are great and very knowledgeable, boats are in good shape, and they even do fishing seminars some nights. The cabins are clean and spacious. I've also been up for a whitetail hunt, and they have great guides for that as well. The owner is a good man - very attentive to his customers and kind to his employees. Never been there, never will! We were fishing on Vermilion Bay on Friday August 12, 2016 when an Andy Meyers guide boat came into our marker buoys and fished right on top of us. Not only did he drive right between our buoys, he threw out one of his own about 30 feet away. A few minutes later another Andy Meyers guide boat came in and drove around us at 5-10 mph looking for fish on his graph. After 10 minutes or so, he yelled to the other boat that none of the fish were any larger than his male genitalia. A few minutes later both left at a high rate of speed. This all happened 50 feet from the two boats in our group. I'd never patronize Andy Meyers Lodge because they employ guides that are rude, loud and obnoxious. read more
