Three of us, all Americans, ended up at Andy's Diner late night on our recent trip to Berlin (September 30, 2010) and were all pleasantly surprised. We were all annoyingly drunk and craving pizza. The bartender was very tolerant of us and even helped us to properly order our pizzas. There were other patrons in there who were obviously annoyed with us, but the bartender kept his cool with us and made the end to our evening quite pleasant!!! The pizza is delicious!!! I ordered cheese and peperoni which the bartender quickly informed me was not what I thought it was and that it would be big banana peppers with cheese...I decided to give it a try anyway and very glad I did!!! All of us thoroughly enjoyed our pizzas!!! I would recommend Andy's Diner to anyone looking for some quick and filling food while visiting Berlin!!! read more

An insult to American Cuisine and all we have left to hold dear as a Nation. I'm from Texas and have been living in Germany for the past 2 years loving the experience, however, I had been dying to get my hands on some real American Supersized, Grill smoked, shake and bake Homestyle food on a Cob, if you know what I'm sayin'. ;) However, I was forced to leave with a broken heart and perhaps, one could say, a broken Soul. 1. THEY DON'T HAVE MILKSHAKES. No authentic Diner misses the Milkshakes. 2. DO NOT ORDER THE BUFFALO WINGS. There is a Taste to Buffalo Sauce every Buffalo sauce needs to honor no matter the brand: just like Ketchup or Ranch Dressing. They LITERALLY gave me SALSA! The dish was what I presumed to be the remnants of an ancient Bird that had been mummified, fried, and served to me in 8 pieces no longer (or much thicker than) my thumb for the OUTRAGEOUS PRICE of 9something. Next to these amputated chicken pieces from 1942, screaming for their social security check, was one little ceramic dish with LITERAL SALSA! AS IN: squished tomatoes with some pepper! Thank God this was not Mexican or else I would have something to say about the Salsa as well. Obviously, the rest was Salad... Just to clarify: IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO CALL THE DISH BUFFALO ANYTHING. It did not have any Buffalo flavor to it what so ever. 3. Friends ordered the Burger, was no different than any Burger at a Cabab Shop, not bad not good, but with the Tourist prices, so... 4. The Waitstaff seemed properly overworked as is customary to a Diner, however the wrong type of scary. An American Diner needs stuck in the 1980's and confused about the changing of the times scary, with the smile of a single mom still hoping on a better future and Honey dropped at the end of each sentence, condescending or otherwise. This guy seemed like he was too proud to be a waiter unless it's waiting for his Boxing career to kick start. I think my Boyfriend was scared of him, and he kept talking me down as I told my German-born Honeybear that this was an insult to all that my people consider holy. As an American, there is no more honorable way to die than chocking, heart attack or gunshot wound and I was determined to try my luck with at least one that day; but I gave in with the resolve to write this review and we paid and left without a word or ordering more. To all my fellow Americans, we may have to accept the Trump jokes (just as the Germans must accept the Hitler ones), but do not accept such insult to our Chicken Fried, Cold Beer on a Friday night, a pair of Jeans that fit just right, and/or the radio up... read more

Food was awful. 1. Omelet was flat and way way too salty! And it wasn't just my omelet, others in my party also complained about the salt. 2. Chili was flavorless and hardly had any beans. Tasted like ground beef in tomato sauce.... Ummm.... no, not what we ordered. 3. This American themed diner is right next to Potsdamer Platz and serves American style food. The food comes out very quickly, but the service is a little offhand. We had some very good nachos, reasonable pasta and an average burger (questionable meat quality). The portions and included side dishes were very generous and it's really good value for this area. We did feel awkward about the waiter actively soliciting for a tip when he presented the bill though. read more

Our waiter was nice, and he let us sit and order when it was almost 10PM or really close to their closing time. Only came here because we wanted to go to Museum Island and see if there was anything going on during reunification. There was nothing ha, and some of my friends just came from Prague and were really hungry. There was nothing else open at this time around here, so we were forced here. Typical food that a cheap American diner chain would serve. My friends tried the loaded potato skins that came with chips and salsa. It was ok, and of course it's a little pricy for the quality of the food (around 8+ euros). I just had a beer which was around 3-4 euros. I would recommend not coming here for food, but if you're starving...I'd just recommend you starve and drink the beer instead ha. read more

Wish I'd eaten anywhere else. It's *almost* like an American diner, but yet not quite there.. the burger meat is definitely not the usual American ground chuck. It's more like a meatloaf or frikadeller, dense and slightly herb-spiced like a German ground meat. Fries were mediocre, salads flavorless. Just added up to a disappointment. This is an American diner run by someone who has probably only seen pictures of one. Yes, it looked right. But the elderly waitress was so unfriendly, moving us twice to different tables that we knew we were clearly still in Germany...we both ordered the Diner's breakfast...eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and baked beans. The eggs were a joyless matter...made by someone who probably doesn't like eggs...they were flat, dry and without much flavor. The bacon were tiny pieces--so small in fact that you couldn't really get enough of a piece to get a flavor. The sausage was kind of mummified. The toast was tasteless, flat...we asked for some jam to help give it a taste and the waitress seemed really put out....came back with just one small thing of jam...which we later found out that we were charged one euro each for. The baked beans were purely for show, out of a can and into the tiniest little bowl you've ever seen. Then there was a salad, which was unexpected, that dripped thousand island dressing all over the rest of the breakfast. I really do think this is some kind of German art experiment where they serve people bad versions of their own culture's food to torment them. read more

You can do much better for American food. I went with my wife, we got an appetizer of onion rings and two drinks to start. Onion rings were frozen out of a bag, but pretty tasty. Drinks were large, but were also 8.50 Euro each, and had very little alcohol. Kind of a rip-off for that much. I got the club sandwich, it was alright, hard to complain much about it. My wife got a hamburger, and it was a large frozen patty they heated up for the meal. To me, a pre-formed frozen patty for a hamburger is kind of shameful for an American style restaurant. She only ate a few bites and left the rest. Fries were from the freezer too, but not bad. Food came out quick, service was fine although the waitress barely said two words to us the whole time. We won't be going back there though, ever. Much better places in Berlin to get American food (even outside of the chains), and for the money it definitely is not even close to worth it. Only thing really positive is the location, especially for nights going to the theatre in the Sony Center. Also, people, tip your waitresses. Waiters here get paid an okay salary, but not as much as you think. So frustrating to hear people talk about how badly others tip. If someone serves you, leave a little something. Especially you Americans, tired of you giving those of us that live here a bad name! 10% is about right here. read more

Small but cozy Diner across from The Sony Center. Prettz mediocre overall but they do serve food late, even on weekdays! Might be your only option after a late night Monday movie. I had the burger and although the portion was quite large and well priced, the quality of meat wasn't the best. Not a bad place for a late night snack but there's better options for a dinner night out. read more

I had a 3 hour wait for my flixbus in the late evening, and I'm a solo female traveler, and I just want to say how grateful I am for this diner. The staff is so incredibly kind and personable and made me feel extremely comfortable and safe. The food was 'American' and it was a clean facility. Highly recommend to anyone. read more

Nice american (sports bar) diner. no reason to travel there accross the city. But fine if you look for a place to enjoy a beer, a steak and watch soccer around Potsdamer Platz with its rather dull tourist and after-shopping places. read more

the food is not phenomenal but it's tasty and fresh, the interior of the restaurant is nice and kept in the american diner spirit, it has ac inside which is lovely during the heat wave. the vegan option is also nice, nothing special, but it tastes good read more
