Luckily, the Whitehouse Common Fish Bar agrees with me, opening for four precious hours on a Sunday evening between 5.00pm and 9.00pm. Their accessibility is matched by some pretty decent chips. Last Sunday, we both had cod and chips just arriving in time to take advantage of the Sunday opening. The chips were well-cooked and nicely seasoned with salt. I have to be in the mood for vinegar. The fish batter was golden and crispy, harbouring white tender cod at its absolute best. Yes, there's more to the menu than the classics but some days, and especially Sundays, you just want things to be the way they should be....
