Since buying my home in 2020, my sliding glass doors had plagued me because the rollers had rusted/seized up. I did some online searching and liked the reviews I saw for Andy's Sliding Glass Door Maintenance. I called Andy to get a general idea of the cost and timeframe. He wasn't able to schedule for a couple of weeks but I've been living with the rusted out sliders for three years, so two weeks wasn't a problem. Besides, that tells me that he is in demand and busy, which is a good sign. Repairing sliding glass doors is not inexpensive but it's a worthwhile investment. I'm pretty good at doing handyman work around my house so I searched online as I considered doing it myself, but quickly realized this is a true specialty and not something I wanted to risk screwing up. True to his word from two weeks ago, Andy showed up on time, and then explained to me the workings of glass sliding doors, and went through the condition of mine. The wheels/rollers on my door, had rusted and frozen up largely because they were not stainless steel. Even though they are PGT high-quality doors they did not come with the optional stainless wheels. Andy just left, and I'm able to slide the doors open and closed with one finger. The repair comes with a three-year parts/labor warranty, and the receipt even has a picture of the aluminum lubricant for me to use so I can keep the doors rolling smoothly for years to come. The final invoice was less than he had quoted because it was not as involved as he thought it might be. It's tough to find honest people who actually show up when they say they will and perform a good service, so Andy is a rare exception. read more

What started as $300 estimate turned into $600- after arguing back and forth finally settling on $450. Bottom line is Andy claimed my "track" was cemented to the patio and had to be re-cemented. "A lot of work and money". So he put on a new track "over the current track" (which is what he normally does). Bottom line is that extra height of that track over current track caused the sliding glass door to hit the top of frame and be stuck and not move. THE DOOR HAD TO BE CUT. My neighbor went to monroe glass and mirror- same problem same service. THEY TOOK THE ORIGINAL TRACK OUT IN MINUTES and they installed a brand new track. It was not cemented in- the track was simply was screwed in- and it was not a lot of work. I feel THAT was the proper service, THAT was the proper fix and THAT was the long term solution.
