Taking the back roads from OK to KS we stumbled upon Independence, KS and this cute little shop, or market of sorts. The service had that welcoming country vibe with coffee and fresh treats. Everyone was super friendly and the cold coffee and muffin was the perfect blast of energy to keep us pushing forward. Great little find! read more

Stopped here after a miserable fail fog a backpacking trip. Definitely the highlight of an eventful 24 hours. The decor was great. So many healthy and pretty house plants! Lots of vintage knick knacks. Loved the advertisement for mental health awareness as well. Coffee was fantastic. They had a ton of sugar-free flavors, which is hard to come by! I got sugar-free caramel iced latte. Not too sweet, it was just right. Breakfast burrito was pretty good. It tasted very fresh. I wish the peppers had been cooked longer as they were still a bit too crunchy, but overall it was tasty with the salsa. Wish I had some hot sauce to go with it; they may have served it at the restaurant but we took the food to go. Lots of cute merchandise. I got myself a crew neck to commemorate the memorable trip. Everyone was very friendly as well. Don't know the next time I'll be back in the area, but I'll definitely be visiting Ane Mae's again. read more

This is a cool place to eat if you are not a vegetarian or pescatarian. There are several areas within the building to sit. One room is great for larger groups. The pastry case has all sorts of yummy-looking sweets. Coffee lovers will enjoy that menu. As a vegetarian, I went with a salad and piece of vegetable quiche. Both tasted great. read more

The baked goods looked scrumptious -- will have to try something on next visit! The downtown area looks adorable and vibrant. I was glad to find a place with good coffee and breakfast! The atmosphere inside the café is pleasant, and you can see that other people are also enjoying their food and drinks. I usually get a coffee and either breakfast panini and quiche, and let me tell you; the quiche is the bomb. Maybe it's because I've never tried it before, but I was pleasantly surprised at how flaky the crust was. The staff are generous as well. I think you can get a refill on your drink, so that's a bonus! read more

Cute place in this small town, and a favorite of the locals. I got a veggie salad with a scoop of the daily special chicken salad. Overall it was good, not great and a little on the small side. You do get a free tea (hot or cold) with very meal. I liked that touch. Their coffee and baked items seemed yummy, and they had a wide variety of muffins. Friendly folks but on a relaxed schedule. Coffee was significantly underwhelming. Food served in paper trays (like hotdogs at a baseball game). Quiche was perfectly fine. Small-town Starbucks without the hipsters or the great coffee. read more

Their staff is always so nice and it feels so comfortable and homey in the building! Their coffees are honestly all amazing and their food is always so fresh and delicious! If you like Frappuccinos I recommend their Heath or salted caramel. If you are trying to watch sugar but still want a little treat I totally recommend the iced latte with sugar free caramel and/or sugar free vanilla. read more

When you walk in the building you go right and open the door to the coffee shop or you could go straight and see some small shops. After we ate at the coffee shop we stopped at a little shop that had some old fashioned candy. Great experience. The ambience in this little shop was incredible. They had their muffins and scones on display and it looked like a coffee shop- something I haven't really found in this area. I got a medium vanilla latte, and it was sugary- something that most coffee shops do. The sandwich was amazing. I would buy loaves of the bread they used (wheatberry). However, the avocado on it was unripe and I took it off. They also forgot a bottled water. read more

A lovely little coffee shop at the corner of Independence's downtown. The coffee was very good, and they were more than happy to help us out with special orders. The breakfast food was also quite good. We had the bacon and egg frittata as well as the bacon quiche. Both were made quickly and were very good. A nice little surprise. read more

We eat here a lot! Love their food, their coffee, the gift shop, the little specialty grocery store, their meeting rooms, THEM!!!!! The atmosphere is darling. Their catering is wonderful!!!! We've been here twice, when we are in town. I think it's the healthiest and freshest food in independence! Both the tomato soup and the tortilla soup were super tasty and compare to anything I get on the west coast. We just love this place! To get the free wi-fi, just ask for the security code. Seating extends into the mall inner hallway and across to another large eating area. Front sidewalk tables in good weather. Tulsa World newspaper circulates every day. Closed Sundays and early on Saturday. Open 7 - 5 M-F & 8 - 2 Sat. Friendly service and a place to meet people in a setting where you feel at home. There's even a book lending library and local information bulletin board. Almost any kind of coffee drink you would like and four varieties of excellent brewed coffee are just the start to a great dining experience at Ane Mae's. read more

Got their breakfast blend drip coffee, which is from Topeca Roasters in Tulsa and wifey got sticky bun latte. Says it's the best latte she has ever had and the drip coffee was well above average. They were knowledgeable about their coffee, which was refreshing and I would go back if in the area again. read more
