So happy I found Angela! After becoming pregnant and seeing other acupuncturists, I started looking for another who was more specific to pregnancy health needs. She's so sweet and knowledgeable which made me feel very comfortable and confident in getting treatments with her. In my third trimester, I felt like I pulled my psoas muscle (or something close to my pelvis and lower back) that made it really difficult to stand and walk. It felt so debilitating especially being pregnant and needing to get out of bed to pee every couple hours! It hurt to sit down and stand back up every time. When I saw Angela she did our routine acupuncture and also added cupping to my treatment. And I swear the next day it became a very faint sensation in my lower back and then the following day - completely gone. I felt so relieved! So let me start by saying that I've NEVER had acupuncture. And I am hysterical around needles. But my neck and shoulders have been killing me for years and while I've tried a lot of other things, the pain always returns. A friend mentioned acupuncture, and I was in so much pain, smelling so badly like Bengay at work that I thought hell, my insurance covers it, I'm going for it. I called a few people on Anthem Blue Cross' in network list and Angela returned my call on a Sunday in short order, setting up an appointment for the next day. She asked that I come after having eaten breakfast. Which was smart because I am more anxious when I'm low blood sugar. She was very thorough in her pre-acupuncture screening, asking me all sorts of questions about my health and what I was concerned about. I explained how I usually pass out when confronted with a needle. She was cautious, putting some needles in my ear. I was fine. She put about six needles in my back, I was fine. Then all of a sudden I was not fine because I was imagining my back filled with needles and a panic attack was building. So she quickly removed the needles and made sure I was okay. I was super embarrassed, but she was sooo soothing. Angela gave me a few moments, reiterating that I wasn't a freak. The she did some cupping, which kinda blew my mind and made my back look like I'd been beaten by metal microphones. But I'm told that celebrities like Britney Spears proudly show off the bruises and since I can't afford any other celebrity fashion fad, I'll take cupping. Two full weeks without pain. It was a miracle. I've been back for more cupping which is like a deep tissue massage in reverse. Pretty outstanding. If you're scared or unsure of acupuncture, let Angela be your guide. This girl worked real miracles for me. I could not walk or sleep for 3 months. Literally. At times I could not even move. It was the weirdest thing, a muscle related condition in my middle back, doctors could do nothing, chiropractors and massage therapists only made it worse, I could not get more than 2 hours of sleep without getting electric shock like pains that would wake me up, and in the mornings I could not even get out of bed, I was like paralysed. I have always been a strong believer in acupuncture and this talented acupuncturist not only confirms my beliefs, but takes them to the next level. I first started seeing her a few months ago and have been so happy with the results after each treatment. The first few minutes are spent discussing my health and things I want to work on during the treatment (i.e. circulation, digestion, aches and pains, headaches, low energy, etc.). She takes careful notes and asks pertinent questions as to the nature of my "issues". The next few minutes are when the actual acupuncture takes place. As a person who isn't too fond of needles, let me just say that I couldn't be more relaxed during this process. I barely felt anything, and was so happy that she explained why she put each needle where she did. It amazed me how certain points on the body relate to a variety of things, and she knew exactly where to place each one of them! After all the needles are in place, she dims the lights and leaves the room for about 15 minutes, during which time I tend to fall asleep because I'm so relaxed. When I'm awoken a little while later, I feel calm yet energized and can already tell that the treatment has started working. If you have any reservations about acupuncture, this is the professional you want to see. I have been struggling with a severe case of acid reflux for a couple of years now, and have spent a great deal of time, and money, on doctors, and medications with no success. So here's how the story goes...I have suffered for over 14 years from chronic back pain and sciatic related nerve damage. After a sports injury resulting in shoulder and back reconstruction I was told time and time again by many doctors that this was just the way it was going to be. I did my due diligence though and saw doctors from leading hospitals in New York, Cleveland, San Diego, and Los Angeles. All were agreed that the pain could simply be dealt with, monitored, and managed. Several had suggested yet another surgery a decade after the original. I don't know if I can put into words the current relief and satisfaction I feel both mentally and physically being able to prove them wrong. I had all my doubts about eastern medicine and practices complete turned around. Angala has literally given me a completely new lease on life. I may sound as if I am blowing this out of proportion, as this is not an organ transplant or cancer curing, however for anyone that has suffered chronic pain especially dealing with your back you know it is literally at times paralyzingly both physically and simply in life. Sooo...she's AMAZING at what she does and really knows her stuff! She took a vested interest in my overall heath and every session takes time to talk about what's ailing me and why. I've had lower back problems for years and because of how good I feel after acupuncture I've made Angela a weekly stop. I've also had cupping done on my back and although it's different than a traditional massage I now prefer it to one.
