When I asked for clarification on the terms we had agreed to (set up, room flip assistance, tear down), she suggested I hire a decorator for help. Once I told her I was hiring a decorator, as she suggested, she told me in an email and verbally that I didn't need to hire help and that her team could handle it. The morning after we spoke, she broke our contract to terminate services and left us searching for a new coordinator with less than 3 months until the wedding.

We were sold at the beginning by the fancy software and planning/detail she mentioned, but on the day of the wedding, we found out Kathy had booked other weddings and was frantically jumping between them. She had promised us that we were the only wedding of the day, but we had to find out through a third party that she had lied to us. A tremendous amount of details regarding the wedding were missed because Kathy was not present and her team was not aware of the details we had asked for. Even when she was there, she messed up the food at the after-party and the honeymoon suite was nothing like she had promised. To top it all off, she was running around, sweating and yelling at our guests during the reception. On a day when the bride and groom are supposed to be nervous and in need of a support staff, Kathy was just the opposite making things hectic, disorganized, and incomplete. Sadly, she is what a lot of our guests remember about the ceremony/reception. Her wedding was absolutely beautiful and it was totally made for her taste. I can only give credit to the bride and all the hard work she put into it. The bride hired Jean as her "wedding planner". When she told me she hired a planner for her big day, I was relieved for her because I always thought not having a planner was my biggest regret for my special day. After this past weekend, I felt that she would have been better off not hiring a planner at all. I was in complete shock when I showed up for hair and makeup the morning of the wedding and learned that the bride and the bridesmaids had to go set everything up for big day. While some of us got our hair done, the other girls busted ass all morning at the venue getting things perfect. Once we were all dolled up, the rest of the bridesmaids came back to get ready while the rest of us were off to the venue to finish up. The bride was still there finishing up and looking exhausted. She was covered in sweat and her feet were dirty with no time to take another shower. Jean was walking around making orders while she was clearly doing nothing. Once the bride finally went upstairs to get ready, she only had a few hours before the ceremony started. Unfortunately the ceremony was outside and the rain was not cooperating. The bride was to make the call an hour prior to the ceremony to decide whether it be outside or moved inside. Instead of the bride being consulted, Jean made the call to have everything moved inside. The bride had to hear about the decision from a bridesmaid. Even though the bride would have made the right call, she was not given the opportunity. There was no direction from the planner and we all felt very rushed throughout the day. After the ceremony, the bride and groom were off to take pictures while the bridal party waited. We assumed the "planner" would direct us when it was our turn to get pictures but no.... I saw nothing but her sitting on a picnic bench shooting the shit with her assistant. Once I confronted the bride, she seemed very stressed about us not being prompted to come for pictures. Once the bridal party started getting photos, Jean pops out of nowhere to tell the photographer that she is taking too long and that people will end up leaving if she doesn't wrap it up. Whaaaa!!!??? I was shocked by the way she communicated with the bridesmaids but with other vendors?? How dare she! She was very rude, very unprofessional and very unorganised. She not one time consulted the bride or talked to her period the whole day. Everything went through someone else. She treated the entire bridal party poorly and basically expected us to do everything the entire day. The bride paid this woman to plan her day with her guidance. This was not the result. The bride should have enjoyed the morning with her girls and had been able to relax knowing that someone else was taking care of everything else. That was not the case at all. I had no wedding planner on my wedding day and I did not lift one finger besides to lift my champagne glass to my mouth!! I am blown away by this woman and the fact that she charges so much for her "services"! The nerve this woman has! I hope that every future bride reads reviews on this woman before you decide to hire her. Don't waste your money!

She failed to show up for a critical meeting with all important vendors in attendance. She didn't like taking even my smallest direction, even though, obviously I'm paying her for such. My wedding was very simple, but Jean was upset she couldn't run it "her way", which was "industry standard". Things that were written into the contract were disregarded. (ie The aisle runner was suppose to be put down before guests arrived, yet guests told me they sat there and watched her do it. -She later admitted she did do it on purpose!) She didn't care for my African musicality and I tried explaining that my bridesmaids would walk in exactly on beat. She felt they should walk in to some "industry standard", and that SHE would "feel the timing" of the music. Excuse me, but she knows NOTHING about African American musicality and how we have rhythm in our music, its not some "industry standard." My bridesmaids later told me, that when the music started she just stood there, and they had to tell her its time for them to go. She said "ok" and then stared at her watch, so they proceeded on as we had rehearsed without her direction. She then just let the music play without directing the DJ to stop and let the next group walk, so there were long stretches of music and no one walking, just an empty aisle. I gave her an extremely detailed print out, of everything so she wouldn't have to guess, (she claims these were left with another vendor and she didn't get them, which is false, she had them many weeks in advance) but she still wasn't able to follow even the most rudimentary of directions. Jean was paid a handsome sum, in full, many weeks before the wedding. However I got the feeling she wanted us to buy her premium pkg (which offered services we didn't need) and *then she would have given us her full attention. Furthermore, I was very kind to her up until the rehearsal when she just refused to do things that were cultural in nature to me. When I insisted, she made me out to be some bridezilla, which I wasn't, I just wanted my culture represented in my wedding. Thus this review of her on my wedding day of doing nothing. It got so bad, that my caterer stepped in and placed the centerpieces on the reception tables and basically organized the reception venue because she said my wedding planner was nowhere to be found and she felt bad for me. She did this ON TOP of doing her duties as the caterer with a full staff to run and a head chef that came in for the event. That, is the level of professionalism I had expected from Jean, but did not receive. Its unfortunate that she opted to wait until my special day to pull such tactics. It shows a level of professionalism that is remedial at best. I cannot recommend.

I had initially hired Samantha to perform a design session for 1 of the days of the wedding. Soon, I realized I needed her full planning package. Samantha easily and quickly switched the packages and services. She sends a wedding task list which is catered to white Christian weddings (it has items like tanning services) but I just ignored those, and focused on the relevant items. We had a clause to add on any additional hours needed. Which I took full advantage of! I added services for Samantha to track and handle the wedding budget, which fell to the wayside. Nor did she really take on managing. When it became clear we would need additional hours for the weekend due to the magnitude of the events, Samantha was mindful of our costs without sacrificing value. She is well versed on the wedding etiquette and despite never having planned an Indian wedding before, she pulled it off with minimal hitches. I am sure has she gains more experience in various weddings and cultures, she will grow and be even better than she is. When my cousin offered to help coordinate the events, she gladly accepted the needed help. Samantha went out of her way to help me at the end of her reception night, when I fell sick. She is vast in her connections with local vendors and on how to get a bang for your budget. Her creativity on how to reuse decorations and flowers saved so much stress and costs. My biggest concern on the wedding weekend was the DJ. I wish I had explicitly expressed to Samantha to feel empowered to take control on handling him, and had been on a conference call with her and him to ensure things ran smoothly. But throughout the wedding, Samantha was cool and calm and took charge on the situation. Her business is growing and is well deserved. There are times when she was not able to answer emails right away because she was out of town for another wedding, workshop or vacation. As the wedding approached, vendors would ask for a timeline and conference call to go over the details. We were able to coordinate those requests with Samantha - she does get back to her clients and vendors, even if it means a conference call at 8:30 PM or on her way to the airport. I wish I booked her full services at the get-go. However her full package does not always equate to hours needed. Hence our purchasing additional hours, after purchasing the full service package. At the end of the day, Samantha wants her couples to be happy and she tries her best. And is focused on that, despite the noise from family input. I regret on not utilizing her skill and creatively fully. In my need to not want to bother her, or stress her out on chaos of an Indian wedding, I didn't involve her in designing the cake or cake-topper, and wish I had. And not worried about putting her off. She is capable if not short staffed. Definitely book her for your wedding.

She did an amazing job calling on all of her experience to fill in gaps where I was looking for advice or direction (sometimes gaps I didn't even realize at the time she was filling), all while empowering me to spend time and energy on the pieces or details that I cared most about. Many things she almost does in her sleep, not even realizing the slack she is picking up - coordinating who would set the tables, compiling all of my contracts, holding a planning session with our officiant, and keeping me on schedule with things like finalizing timelines and getting my seating chart done. I can be picky (I like what I like!) and Sam picked up on my aesthetic almost immediately and represented my interests to my partners and vendors effectively in meetings and discussions that I was not able to participate in being so far away. In addition to her incredible attention to detail (did I mention she did all of our calligraphy and styled the details photo shoot on the day of?! ), she is truly passionate about what she does and that comes through over, and over again. She is not fatigued by doing weddings and events nonstop, but rather she is energized by them and always looking to do things differently and innovate. Wedding weekend would not have been the perfect experience that it was without SJE and her incredible staff. On our wedding day, I spent time with friends and family, drank champagne, and focused on the special moments and she made that happen. Sam also ran the rehearsal like an absolute pro - showing up with [beautiful] weekend itineraries for the whole wedding party - without me asking for those! I cannot recommend SJE highly enough.

The only thing good I can say about this company is the food that "was" at the wedding was good. There were a lot of items that the company promised (and we paid for) that were not at the wedding. The "presentation" of the food the company "pride's" themselves on was not carried out on my wedding day. My husband, mother, father and myself spent the first half of the reception finding things wrong with what the caterers were doing. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone! They have grown too big too fast. I was very disappointed in "Elite" catering.
