Slow service. All of the pasta sauces tasted like water and were mostly water. Burned all the wings we ordered. Would not recommend.

The Chicken Boat. Breaded chicken cooked in BBQ sauce with cheese and bacon. Very tasty.

This place has your pretty standard Italian food. It's mostly a pizza place that also specializes in pasta. They have a good pizza skillet which is what it sounds like. But I would recommend if you want pizza to just go ahead and get the pizza instead. Honestly my biggest surprise of this place was the chicken boat. It's basically a skillet made with breaded chicken cooked in BBQ sauce with bacon and cheese. It's really good. Get that if you want an appetizer. Staff was friendly and quick to serve us. Thank you for the great visit.

I don't know what it is about Angelo's Pizza, but I dig their food. I call it "Midwestern Italian," because their pizza isn't what first comes to mind when you think "great pizza," and their other Italian dishes are fairly basic. I mean, this ain't even the Olive Garden, knowwhatImsayin? But what it lacks in gourmet standards, it hits out of the park in rich flavor--the sauce is oh-so sweet, and everything is thick with mozzarella cheese. I must have a weakness for the combination, because I can't stop craving it. The atmosphere is non-existant--it's just a dining room split by what used to be a railing to designate the "smoking section" (Yay for the smoking ban!!)--but who cares, the food is too good to care.

I've had their deep dish Chicago style pizza several times and it's always good. The thin crust is good too. I always get Chicken Parmasean sandwich, it's great! A little pricey, but it's worth it to support a nice local place. The staff and owners are always nice and friendly. Never had a problem when we had it delivered either. I wish they had better appetizers and sides, very lacking in that department.

Yummy!!! Just got a stuffed crust and it was perfect! Crusty on the outside, very cheesy on the inside. A couple of miles off Hwy 57, but well worth it!! Putting this on my list of excellent places to stop on my next trip to Wisconsin/Chicago!

Ate lunch here today and it was solid. Nothing spectacular, but good food at a decent price. I had the baked Italian tamales with Alfredo sauce and it was pretty good. Lots of cheese, which was great, and the cheesy garlic bread that came with it was awesome! read more

I went there for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. Hands down the best cheesy breadsticks I've ever had, and I have had my fair share of breadsticks. Great price, well great prices for everything there, and you get a very good helping of breadsticks and are so cheesy, plus the dough is soft and tasty. The meat sauce was very good.I had a breaded tenderloin as well and it was very good. A good helping of tenderloin - some do them long and soooo skinny with no meat, but they have a good portion of meat with it. I am looking forward to eating there again, plus the staff was very friendly. read more

Sat down with my wife for a quick lunch, a couple minutes after sitting down, a waitress tripped and dumped an entire soda down my shirt and into my lap. I was completely soaked in sticky soda. My shirt and shorts are stained and ruined. We moved to a different table that wasn't drowning in cola. Had a decent pizza with a bland appetizer. Upon check out I was expecting some sort of "sorry we spilled an entire sticky soda on you and ruined your clothes" discount. Nope, nothing they were not apologetic in the slightest. Just asked me if "I had dried off yet" in a joking manner. Even some small attempt to make things right would have gone a long way. Maybe a free appetizer or comp my drink for crying out loud. Even with out this incident, the food was over priced and not that good. read more

Was here from Chicago for a track meet. Bunch of us came here for dinner. Pleasantly surprised. Good service and good food. I got the grilled lemon chicken, pretty heavy on lemon flavor, almost like eating a lemon head, but other than that it was good. Everyone else had a variety of items on the menu and everyone was happy. read more

Ordered a thin crust pizza for pick up at 3:45 in the afternoon, wanting to beat the crowd. Picked it up and brought it home and it was so undercooked we couldn't eat it. I called to express our displeasure and we were given a free pizza for later. Two weeks later we order our free pizza for pick up (we live 2 minutes away) once again it is undercooked! We love their spaghetti, but we will never order another pizza from Angelo's! read more

Angelo's is the best Italian restaurant in Mattoon. Their stuffed pizza and pasta sampler are awesome. Whenever I drive by Mattoon, my kids ask for me to pick up dinner from Angelo's, and I am happy to oblige. read more

The Chicago style pizza was great! My friends got thin and it didn't appeal to me but they said they liked it. It cost like $20 for a large (14 or 16 inch) chicago style pizza with 2 toppings. It actually was not that crowded for a Friday night but who cares...at least the food was good. read more

I had the small Platter Pleaser for lunch with the serving large enough for dinner as comes with garlic bread. Spaghetti sauce was very sweet. Fettuccine was average. Lasagna by far was the best. Would recommend the lasagna as has a lot of meat in it. read more

If you want mouthwatering lasagna, Angelo's is the place! The sauce is homemade and faintly sweet (which sounds odd but trust me it works) and the small portion is enough to make a grown man groan. The garlic bread is ok , and is served in generous portions as well. An excellent meal for very little money. read more

I (we) have been eating here for many years. The one thing you can count on is great food, great value and great service. The food has never changed, always has the same great taste. We eat here 2-3 times a week, sometimes more, and would not consider another Italian restaurant in Mattoon, as we live approx. 30 miles from there and if we feel like Italian, we go there .I highly recommend Angelo's, and hope they NEVER change. read more

The damablanca sauce was also super thin with no hint of the usual brandy or Cognac one would expect. It basically tasted like watered down Alfredo sauce.

This is an awesome family. They'll do all they can to make your dining experience a pleasant one. From Entrance to Exit there's no reason to be not love this place. Family owned and run.
