In need of seven yards of fabric to re-upholster a chair, I found myself at Artee Fabrics & Home on the recommendation of the man doing the work. On entering, my mom and I were warmly greeted by Jasmine, who showed us around the store, explaining the layout and how to find what we were seeking. Please note: the store is laid out by colors, not weights or types of fabric, so it helps to know your color scheme if you want to save time. After spending a good 20-30 minutes perusing the aisles, and seeing many beautiful options, I narrowed my selections to half a dozen. Then Nancy stepped in to assist, snipping swatches while I went back and forth before deciding on a suitable fabric. After making my final decision, I opted to purchase 3/4 yard to take home to make sure the colors worked in the room. (Worst case, I had enough for a pillow or a barstool.) I stopped in on a weekday, just before lunch, and there were two knitters at the community table working on their projects, and I took this to mean people like hanging out at this store. They let anyone and everyone come in and sit and knit, which is a great time to take in all the yarn candy in the shop. They are so friendly they helped my husband find a great birthday gift, a yarn hat kit, and he was proud to hand it to me. There is an eclectic group of people that come and knit, and some that come in, asking a plethora of questions, all answered btw, and buy their fibers there. In Swansboro does not mean far from beachers, tourists, and lovers of a short distance adventure from the beach. AND well worth the time to be with Peggy and Roxanne, and everyone that comes in.
