This wasn't your typical TikTok draping analysis. She took time to explain why she was choosing certain colors and why she was avoiding others. She didn't just diagnose me as a "spring" and leave it at that. She took into consideration my skin, hair, eye combination to find custom colors that were perfect for me based on my specific coloring. Much more than you would get out of ChatGPT. Her expertise goes far beyond a simple seasonal color analysis. She also helped me with some online shopping to guide me in the right direction in purchasing new pieces for my closet. If you want to ensure you are investing in the right pieces to add to your closet, invest in Kathryn's services. You will not regret it!

Last, we finished with some styling for a photo shoot! She not only gave me a usable color palette I can consult as I shop, but also broke down specific styles that are best for my body shape and how to pair them together, and overall, just helped me feel great in my body. I never thought I'd find experimenting with my clothes and my style (or shopping!) to be fun, but Kathryn gave me the tools and confidence to step out of my comfort zone. I'm so happy with my clothes and thrilled I worked with her!

I was never one of those people who would look at fashion magazines or pay attention to fashion…read moretrends to be familiar enough with clothing to know what would look good on me. I envied my peers who seemed to always look put together and that had a seemingly endless wardrobe. I don't dislike shopping but with the advent of online shopping and the thousands upon thousands of choices we now have, it's gotten pretty overwhelming--especially because I'm one of those people who like to look at EVERYTHING a store offers before making my choice. You can imagine how much time this has cost me. As someone who absolutely hates wasting time, I've started to outsource a lot of the aspects of my life to actual experts (like a physical trainer, for example) who have spent years studying their area of expertise. I don't think the few hours I've spent looking on Pinterest really mean that I'm an expert at picking clothes for myself, so that's what spurred my decision to look for a wardrobe consultant. I chatted with a few other consultants before deciding to choose Leah both because of her stellar reviews as well as her focus on working with women. Working with Leah was super comfortable, and I never felt any pressure to purchase anything that I didn't feel amazing in. I felt as if I were shopping with a friend, but a friend who will very honestly tell you if something looks good or not. She also gave me a good tip for figuring out if I actually like something or not (watch your body language in it!). I honestly was a little skeptical of how many items I would actually end up liking as I feel like I'm quite picky, but I was pleasantly surprised to leave the session with over fifteen new pieces, each at fairly reasonable prices (she's good at finding things on sale!). It would have taken me years to find all the clothes that Leah found for me in one session, and the time savings was probably the most valuable thing for me (on top of all the new clothes that I'll probably wear for much longer than anything I've chosen for myself). If you think of this as an investment into your future wardrobe and you want the money you spend on your clothes to go much much further (AND save hours of shopping), this is totally worth it. I'm excited to continue working with her in the future and learn more about what works for me and continue upgrading my wardrobe until I look as stylish as her!

Leah is incredibly good at helping make a person look like --and maybe even become-- the best…read moreversion of themselves. My theory is that it is some kind of magic. The first neat trick Leah has is that she's able to make hard truths easy to hear. My guess is this is done through some combination of a genuine love for her fellow humans, a design-centric mind that can see a path beyond whatever mess is presented, and a true Southern charm that is dependent on the previous qualities mentioned. When I showed Leah my 15+ identical, well-worn dresses in different colors that I bought at a store called REI that you might be familiar with for their sporting equipment, she did not say, "Oh, honey." She said something more like, "REI is a great store, and they are great at a lot of things...but your day-to-day wardrobe? I just think you deserve nicer things." "I just think you deserve nicer things." And I'm paraphrasing that, but how devastatingly beautiful are those words, in this context? Well, the truth is that Leah was right: I deserved better than most of the clothes I owned...I just hadn't known that before she showed me how to be kinder to myself. We tossed out all the clothes that I bought two sizes too big to try to hide in, along with all 15+ of those identical, well-worn REI dresses. And then...there was nothing left in my closet.. So the next neat trick was: it's not just that Leah was right, but I managed to believe that she was right. I *did* deserve nicer things! And I couldn't wear those other things ever again, now that I knew that they weren't being very kind to me. And so, right there on the spot, perhaps emboldened, I managed to ask her to do a nice thing for me. "Leah, thank you so much for helping me with my closet, but there's not much left. Is there any way you could make the time to help me this afternoon?" And with that, she showed me that she thought I did deserve nice things through her actions in a pretty extreme way, by rearranging her whole day and helping me in my time of need. So all of that was very nice for my internal self, feelings blah blah blah, but for those of you looking for the other kind of magic, the kind you can see with your eyes -- some Cirque de Soleil meets Houdini visual trickery happened in that (well-curated, calm) dressing room. It was the best experience I've ever had in a store, and I don't even understand how she did it. But somehow, Leah curated a dressing room with a ton of clothes that fit me just right. From jeans to sweaters, all of these clothes that I didn't know how to wear with my (oh, have I not mentioned this yet? possibly slightly not-model proportioned) physique pretty much all looked great. I bought a lot of stuff, and it made me feel great. Even more magical? The receipts were cheaper than shopping my old ways, per item. The grand finale though is all about the audience. My husband loves everything, though I still have to admit that I think he's better than I could ever deserve. My coworkers are a tougher crowd, always trying to fix everything, it is the nature of our work, but even they were impressed: "You've lost weight. I can tell. Good job." (Hint: I did not actually lose weight.) "I love that dress, you're totally channeling Victoria Beckham." "Did you go shopping? You've looked so great this whole week!" "You look great today!" "Love your boots!" "Did you get taller?" Anyways, it is past my bedtime, but I wanted to share the details of my lovely, very nice experience...if you are reading this and feeling bummed whenever you look at your closet...you probably also deserve something a little bit nicer. And Leah can help you figure out what that is. :)

I chose to work with Paul because of his online reviews and I'm so glad I did. Even with my high expectations, he exceeded what I'd hoped for at every turn. Paul not only is amazing to spend time with (explaining lots of little tips and tricks along the way that have been useful and stuck with me), he is also very efficient with a thoughtfully designed sequence of meetings (some virtual to align on goals and define my style, some at my house such as the closest audit, and some at the mall where he prepared fitting rooms and made shopping actually enjoyable). The final product: a wardrobe I really look forward to every day, and even a helpful 'look book' of curated outfits (there's something pretty magical about flipping through the pages to pick out something I like and knowing I have all those items in my closet already!) If you have a similar goal, and want someone to make it an easy and delightful process, I highly recommend Paul!

I had tried multiple brands that offer monthly styling boxes, but I didn't like the styles or quality each time. Paul came in and audited my wardrobe and got to know my preferences and clothing needs, then he used his extensive knowledge and did extra research to find me brands and items that he felt I would love... and I did love them! I was thrilled to find eco-conscious brands that fit my petite frame (very hard to find my size), and Paul solved so many of my clothing issues with insightful suggestions on how to wear specific pieces in a more stylish manner. Also, he made sure my current pieces matched well with any new items, especially since I wanted to keep everything in rotation. My experience was beyond my expectations because Paul is deeply knowledgeable, friendly and approachable, and because I felt he really LISTENED to what I wanted while gently nudging me to expand/improve my style. I look forward to working with him again in the late spring so I can refresh my summer wardrobe!

We then went to my closet and she treaded a careful balance of offering some options to guide session but leaving it up to me. Did I want to go through my clothes generally? Are there certain pieces she can help me create an outfit with? Do I want to go through accessories, purses, shoes at all? We ended up looking at a few pieces and her helping me make an outfit within my closet, bringing in accessories I hadn't thought to pair them with, color and material combinations I hadn't considered. And the tips she gave were universal so that I could apply them to other outfits as well. As we were doing this, she also casually looked at my closet and pointed out a few pieces that maybe were redundant or I no longer needed to keep. She was honest but kind. I feel armed with better knowledge on styling myself and a few extra outfits, just using what was already in my closet!

Parking and driving around looked quite busy in the front where you can see that tiny Trader Joe's that's overshadowed by the giga Whole Foods and what I think are protestors against Uniqlo, I think. Never seen protestors for that brand in particular, but it is what it is. There's LOTS of college students (near SFSU apparently) and Zoomers since it was, I suppose it's after school on a Tuesday. Parking the back was no issue. Also a decent selection of shops that I would go to normally, like Daiso or Miniso, as well as a Round 1. Neat that they have a Quickly's that looks like it's untouched by time (portraits of cute Ulzzang style workers enjoying the drinks and food there), there's charging tables, and a good amount of eateries and options to get boba and snacks. Completely incomprehensible unless you're specifically from the 626, but this mall reminds me of a mix between the Santa Anita mall and the West Covina mall (during it's prime). Pretty bustling and lots of businesses that actually interest me. I think my only qualm is that everything is at a smaller scale and smaller store, like their Pop Mart and Miniso are markedly smaller with a smaller stock, so keep that in mind.
