To my surprise, within about a month of starting school, she began speaking in short phrases. I was amazed by how quickly she learned and could recite nursery rhymes from memory. Since then, her development has been remarkable. Today, she is fluent in both Mandarin and English, can recite classical Chinese poems, and has learned over 100 Chinese characters. More importantly, she has become a confident, happy, and curious child who is excited about learning. My child has been attending this school for over a year now. The staff and teachers are phenomenal. My kid comes home every day happy and excited, and he always looks forward to going to school the next day. One of the highlights of this school is the lunch program: a very nutritious, rotating menu of Japanese-style dishes that you can opt-into. My daughter loves broccoli, fish, and many new foods now because of the healthy lunches at M.I.A. There are so many fun events throughout the year, such as the Sports Festival (Undokai), plays/musicals, cooking classes, observation weeks, cultural events, and the school is great about sharing pictures of the students' activities so we can get a sense of their days.
