Unlike zoos, I tend to find them all rather unique, and quite pleasant to wander around. Okay, it isn't a huge one, but once again, like a lot of them, you don't actually have to pay to go inside, which is also pretty cool. It doesn't take all that long to wander around and is actually really rather pleasant.

As soon as I walked into reception to collect my room key, the man there started yelling at me telling me to let him handle it when I was just trying to make his job easier by suggesting that he was pointing to the wrong place which said 'DRIVE THRU' when we had booked for a villa. When we walked into our cabin, we already realised that there was an EXTREMELY small shower (which was very small compared to other villas of the same type) and toilet so having showers in it was very uncomfortable. The railing on the bunk bed was wonky which wasn't very settling. The only two good things about the park in general were the cheap Kart hire service and the comfy beds. This place was average and needed improvement.

We'd driven from Beaumaris to Birregurra and decided to head back home the next day via the ferry…read more The main reason we chose the ferry is that the road from Melbourne to Geelong is the most boring road in the history of roads and I really wanted to avoid driving it again, where possible. The other reason being that I hadn't been on the ferry in years and my husband had never been on it, so we decided to take the scenic route home. If you're unfamiliar with the layout of Melbourne, it's built around a bay and there is a narrow entrance to the bay between Queenscliff and Port Nepean. There's a ferry which runs every hour from each side and it takes about 45 minutes to cross. You can take your car too. We arrived about 20 minutes before the crossing, paid our $70 (for a car, driver + one passenger), got a free Herald Sun newspaper and waited in line. They queue the cars in rows and when they start boarding the ferry you just follow the person in front of you. The staff are helpful and chilled and make it a quick and stress-free experience. While the ferry is crossing, there's an upstairs lounge area to relax in with a cafe and kids play area. It's basic but at the same time, comfortable and makes the trip enjoyable. If it was a nice day you can stand out on the deck but it wasn't the best weather so we just stayed inside and watched the lovely view. Before docking at Sorrento, you get told to return to your cars so you can make a quick exit again. It's very efficient and smooth, and for the price I think it's well worth it. You can also use the ferry as a foot-passenger.
