Disc Depot Dundee - Phone cases on display

I was given a full refund an effectively ushered out of the shop "because its too much work to fix" apparently. However when I investigated further it became apparent that an attempt to solder the motherboard had failed and destroyed the connection to the screen- It would no longer power on- it had no battery and the screen was permanently broken. Disk depot returned my macbook in far worse condition than it was originally submitted. I implore people to avoid the services of this company.

Disc Depot were open despite others being closed, they had the part, and could carry out the work same day. I also received a quote of £35 over the phone. I arrived some 20mins later and agreed the work. No other faults were discovered or required and I expected to cost to be £35 as a result. Received a call around 2 hrs later saying the work had been carried out. Staff confirmed no additional work was required or carried out. I was charged £40. When I queried this I was informed the earlier quote was wrong (sorry!) as the prices change all the time, and £40 was the latest price. No wishing to quibble over a fiver I accepted the amount which, despite the increase, was still competitive with other quotes I had. Product: The replacement is in good order thus far - a few days since the replacement. There is a 3-month warranty with the new screen. I was informed the replacement was the real thing. Considering the price Apple charge for the same work I'd argue that it's not, but it's doing the job for now so I'll wait and see. Price: Competitive. Mis-led initially but not dramatic enough to quibble but should be bourne in mind hence the 4/5 rating. Otherwise it would be a full marks. Also worth noting that they insist on taking your pin code while carrying out the repair so they could do diagnostics afterwards. I was obviously wary of this as why would they need a pin for a screen replacement, but I felt a bit pressured and off guard so gave them it giving their insistence. They logged it on their computer. I did ask for this to be removed from the system afterwards - which they said they have, but maybe something to be aware of. All in all I would use again.

I note one person who left a review says it's an expensive place to shop! I've always found that at the end of the day, wither expensive or not, you always end up with quality items that are fit for purpose, seem to last forever and require little or no repair what so ever, meaning at the end of the day there excellent value. If you want to take the chance and shop on line, by all means do so but it's doubtful you'll get the quality, service and aftercare Robert Ritchie can provided and having been a long standing customer I can highly recommend them. A day trip to Montrose to purchase an A+R Cambridge Cartridge, (around 30yrs ago) now has me happily living with A Linn/Naim system I thought I'd never own. True, it was expensive but happily built to last, plus upgradable and has needed no repairs, (another plus) only upgrades as and when required though only if you want, or require them. My advise to anyone reading this is simply to go and see them, enjoy all the options they have to offer as there's something for everyone at many different price points to suit all pockets, from a simple cartridge to mind blowing hi fi systems that take your breath away and lots more in between. Value for money, I'd say yes.

Brilliant friendly service, quality work, speedy repairs. After having disastrous repairs at other…read morelocal shops, I decided to give Source a go. I didn't use them sooner, as it is such a smart looking shop that I thought they would be much more expensive that the cheap looking places, but it isn't and the service and quality of parts and labour is different class. I'd had my iPhone 5s screen replaced at a cheap shop and it broke within days. I kept taking it back, but it never lasted more than three days. He even replaced it again, but that one just broke. They charged £35, but I found out they are using the cheapest possible screens that are £10 from China, and are rubbish. Source charged £45, but it is a great quality screen, it took them 30 minutes and I've not had any trouble in the month since fitting. I know that's just a month, but you can just tell that it is repaired properly with a quality screen and it will last. I then spilt something on my Samsung RV711 laptop keyboard and completely shorted it out. Nothing was working. They usually charge far less for a keyboard replacement, but on the Samsung the keyboard, palm rest and entire top of the base needs replacing. The cheapest I found a second hand one on eBay was £45 , new ones far more. I called around, and some shops wouldn't do it, and one central one quoted £99, just for the labour, and another quoted 3 weeks turnaround. Source ordered the part for next day delivery and then only took one hour to complete the repair. Total cost for the brand new part and labour £79. They said most keyboard repairs are £35, but this is the entire top due to the Samsung design, which is the palm rest, keyboard, tracking pad and right and left mouse buttons. They even fixed my left mouse button for no extra cost. My computer is now working perfectly. I'm absolutely delighted with Source Electronics and won't go anywhere else again. I highly recommend them. They are polite, friendly, very professional and the quality of the entire experience is 5 STARS! TIPS: 1. They open at 9.30am and told me this is the best time to drop off a repair as they have an additional staff ember in the morning and can do the job straight away. 2. Call first to ask if they have the part in stock, if not they will order it and call you when it gets in. My part for the Samsung took 24 hours to arrive. They had the iPhone 5s screen in stock. 3. Calling in advance you can also book in your repair, so you know they can do it while you wait on an iPhone. Plenty of great coffee shops near by. 3. They can also fit phone screen protectors. Even the most careful of us can scratch the screen of our phones, and if you have a screen protector it is that getting scratched instead. When you come to sell the phone take it off and the screen will be as new. The protector will pay for itself many times over through the resale value of a perfect screen. Scratched screens really effect sell on value.
