There are so many different birds that come by to get fed.

I enjoyed coming out to this beach lots of different sea life to look at. Calm waves not too intense. I would come back.

This beach is so beautiful! We went a sunset one evening and there was no one in site! We couldn't believe it! It's definitely a type of hidden gem!

This beach is one of the calmer beaches we have seen thus far on the north shore. It is very close to Princeville where we are staying. It offered great snorkeling with a massive reef running along the shoreline. You have to be pretty careful because the reef is shallow and even when you go far out from shore, you are close to the reef. I saw lots of fish when I was snorkeling. The water wasn't extremely clear probably due to the recent rains. The beach itself has lots of shade, ample parking (which is not always the case at beaches here), and neat looking trees that provide a nice shade. I don't think it is necessarily the best beach for swimming just because there is the reef to consider. It is definitely worth a visit, and we will probably go back before this trip is over.

Quiet. Calm clear waters. Nice spot for snorkeling since it's protected by a reef. There are shady spots and nice breeze on a hot day. A good spot for windsurfing as well. Ample parking.

Anini beach is such a beautiful and tranquil beach with hardly anyone there. Lots of parking and restroom available. Also they have picnic tables good for picnics and the beautiful sandy beaches are so serene. They also have lifeguards on duty there. A big difference from the crowds at Ala Moana beach park, where you have to drive around and hope you can find parking. What a beautiful and relaxing way to enjoy your time on Kauai.

We stayed at the Westin and they have a public path down to the Anini beach right next to the hotel. The dirt path is very treacherous, especially after a rain shower. I went down without my wife to see how it was. There was a couple in front of me that the wife was yelling at her husband for taking her down it! Lol Anyway, as I was going down I hit a wet spot and ended up falling into a mud hole!! I made it down to the beach only to find a big sign that says NO Swimming! In talking to some people you can walk up the beach by the St Regis and swim there. Information I wish I had before heading down the dirt path. Anyway, the beach is very beautiful and calming. There is creek that runs from the mountains down to the beach so there is a sand bar that you can walk out on. I did just to clean all the mud off of me! FYI, the Kauai red mud does not come out of your clothes very easily. It stained my $40 Tommy Bahama T shirt , that my wife was not happy with me about. She Forgot about me falling down the path!,, lol Maybe next time we are here we will make it over to the St Regis. I found out that the Westin has a shuttle you can take over there. Also info I could have used before going down the path.

SO AMAZING! We heard this beach was good for snorkeling and it was the BEST beach for snorkeling. There isn't as much sand as Hanalei Bay Beach but there is still enough for walking on and laying out. There were hardly any people, the water was about 3-5 feet deep for about 50 meters, and there are actually coral reefs so the water is teeming with so much life! The section of beach we were at you could even see the Kilauea Lighthouse. We saw probably 20 different species of fish, so so many Urchins, and I even ventured out far enough I saw a sea turtle!! If you need a place to snorkel, this is it. Not the best beach for sun bathing, surfing, or boogie boarding, but it is really pretty and super relaxing!

Beautiful l, clear, calm water. Shady area to relax.

Anini Beach offers calm, turquoise waters and is filled with the sounds of roosters crowing throughout the day.

Love this beach! Parking gets very packed but we found a spot along the road where there are big gorgeous beach homes. Different beach entrances too in between homes but the main one is by all the parking and bathrooms. I personally liked being away from the crowds so we picked a spot further from the main spot. Be respectful of these beach homes and their front views. Don't leave any trash behind! Keep Kauai beautiful. This was a beautiful spot to snorkel, swim and tan. I also saw some people paddle boarding and sea fishing. It's a great spot for a beach day.

It helps that the drive into the area already has you impressed and in aw struck wonder. It is absolutely gorgeous on the north side of the island! As far as the beach itself, it is super kid friendly. Shallow waters for yards and yards! If you're on the right side of the beach it is shallow even past the pier. With gentle yet large enough waves for you to boogie board or surf. The pier is a beautiful way to take in the scenery and if you're brave enough, jump off of. My kids loved it! There are bathrooms and outdoor shower. A taco truck on site. A great beach day!! The only downside. The time of year we came, there were a ton of gnats. It might have been because of the rain. Now I originally was aghast that a botanical garden tour was this expensive, but after doing it, I think it's actually well worth the price. This isn't one of those gardens you can just walk in and wander around - it's guided tours only with staff. Pros: - Probably the most entertaining and varied botanical garden tour I've ever done, complete with a chocolate tasting sit-down learning experience with the guides. - It's BEAUTIFUL - and doubles as a leisurely hike if you're very able-bodied. It felt like a very HAWAII experience given the lush greenery, the number of new plants I had never seen before, and fun facts about Kauai and this specific botanical garden. - There's different "stops" on the tour where you'll get to try more uncommon fruits and bites (we had longan, rambutan, apple banana, sugarcane plant, and this really delicious honey!!) and you get to try a cacao fruit (which tastes nothing like chocolate lol) - they provide organic herbal bug spray if you don't bring your own - Pretty easy to find, the staff were super communicative beforehand via email and text with directions - Our tour guide Lauren was super knowledgeable and answered all our questions kindly, even when she was visibly quite pregnant! I was impressed at her stamina - I personally liked that it was a pretty "active" tour, where you hike across a bridge, uphill a bit, etc. You should definitely wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes, because the dirt can get pretty wet if it rains. I wore hiking pants and hiking shoes and felt pretty comfortable, and I felt sorry for people who came in sandals - The chocolate tasting was really unique - we got to try their in-house chocolate that had notes of cinnamon - and they said that it was a cinnamon tree in their grove where water would pass that gave it this flavor! - They also provide walking sticks and umbrellas for people if you want them - Reservation only, online booking in advance - I think this preserves the magical vibe of this nature-y place and keeps the quality of the service high - The staff clearly love and care about what they do, which is very refreshing to see! Cons: - It can be pretty strenuous if you are elderly or have orthopedic issues.

We turned back that day but our whole trip, we were curious what was down there. So now, a few days before leaving, we tried again wearing water shoes- since they seemed to have better grip. I recommend keeping your hands free, as some places can still be slick when it hasn't been raining super recently. There's a few sections where there's tied up rope to help you hold on and keep your balance while climbing- make sure you use it! I wouldn't bring anyone not able-bodied on this trip. As intimidating as the hike sounds, the final points were absolutely breathtaking, the most spectacular beach I've ever seen. The snorkel water was calm, and you can see through it crystal clear without even needing snorkel goggles (although I would still bring some!). Take your time, be careful, go slow, and this trail will reward you. Right before the beach, it does turn into a bit of rock climbing, but nothing too challenging if take your time. You'll definitely feel the Hawaiian jungle vibes. The path can be tight, and you'll be touched with lots of leaves and vines; I would never do this hike somewhere snakes exist. The trail was very steep and covered with slick mud, but with good shoes, you can take your time and make it through the hike with no problem. I just walked very slowly and carefully. Such gentle and magnificent creatures. + There is shade on the beach due to large trees + It was beautiful + It wasn't that crowded (because of the parking situation! see below) The not-so-great: - The parking lot is tiny. We were 2nd in line to wait for a parking spot, thankfully we didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes. However, hubby got antsy because there was no telling how long we'd have to wait. It was WORTH the wait though! - The hike down is steep, especially right at the top. I don't think our 4yo daughter could have walked down by herself, but I think our 7yo daughter would have been OK. - The waves aren't the most kid-friendly - they're pretty strong. (The waves are fine for teens or adults though. Kids could go in the water with an adult close by, but you just wouldn't want kids to sit in the shallow water as they could get knocked over)
