Sealodge Beach is definitely a secluded and hard-to-reach beach in Princeville, and there are reasons why. First, there is no public access parking at the trailhead that leads down to the beach and neither can you park on the sides of the road (otherwise you risk a $150 fine). Secondly, the trail can be hard to find and follow when you get into the trees (I had to team up with two other families to figure out which direction to go in at one point). But once you do find the right direction, then that will lead you to the small and beautiful beach! The trail can be steep at times, so best to bring both hiking shoes and beach sandals. As for the beach itself, you do have to do some rock-climbing right before you enter the sand, but the views and serenity are so worth the efforts! Lots of trees around to provide shade and you can even snorkel assuming the tide is at the right level. Good place to relax and hang out at. The sand seems to be more of the thicker side at Sealodge Beach versus other ordinary beaches I've been to over the years.

Great place! I would highly recommend staying here. The views were absolutely spectacular!

We are staying within walking distance and make our way to this beach after taking the trail out to a lookout at sunset the night before. What a treat! Check the tide before you go and only go during high tide. There is coral very near the beach and if you go during low tide it's probably too shallow to snorkel. We were hoping to see turtles but didn't, darn. We did see a puffer fish, tons of tropical fish, live coral in multiple places, an eel and a sea urchin. This was a more lively snorkeling experience than Tunnels 4 days ago which is raved as the best snorkeling on the North shore. The hike is steep but short. My 7 year old and I made it fine with backpacks of snorkel gear. We did not bring chairs (Wearing Keens, not flimsy beach shoes). Super cool spot, LOTS of shade. Oh, and the sand is so interesting. Coarse, reminded me of sesame seeds, and easy to brush off clothing/shoes unlike the sand at Ke'e, Anini, Lydgate, Quarry, etc. I saw a review that said don't bring kids here but that seems over the top. At the busiest time when we were there for 4 hours there were 14 people there and half were children. If your kid can walk up a steep path use your best judgement.

Perfect little trail for a rewarding view...Not too bad for a quick dip and snorkel. Bring water and don't leave trash behind! Good shades spot so could skip the umbrella

My husband and I stayed at the Sealodge Condos and as part of the condo's paperwork, the condo owners mentioned the small beach which was a short hike away. With it being our first time in Hawaii ever, I thought we could drive to the beach, lol I was wrong. The yelp directions gave us directions to a dead end residential area with no parking. We drove back to the condo and decided to take the hike. My husband is NOT and outdoorsy-type and I thought for sure he would be complaining the whole time. But that was far from it, he enjoyed the short hike. It was so worth the time. The little beach is secluded and private. This being our first beach experience here in Kauai... We were impressed and awed by how beautiful the beach was and thought it was so weird the sand was coarse. We're from Southern California and have never seen that kind of sand before. The next time I come to Kauai, we are most likely staying at the condo again and will be making this hike to the beach again! Till then Aloha!!

This was my favorite beach out of the 5 I saw on our vacation. Though the hike was a bit intense once You arrive at this magical beach you never want to leave. Hardly any people which makes it just spectacular and private. Coral reefs to explore and almost always a title visitor in the early morning!

This is an absolutely beautiful secluded beach, hands down. My recommendations: Good shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty....stay on the trail...dont go in the rain-you'll slip for sure! & Don't go too late after the sun sets, the tide comes in and so do the waves....don't wanna get stuck out there. Make sure to apply bug spray FOR SURE! You will be sorry if you don't....(haha take my advice) I got like 10 mosquito bites on my arms & legs, apparently the tropical mosquitos here like white meat!!! They didn't even consider my husband, dad, or daughter....what the heck??? Lol... not at all a deal breaker just a good lesson learned, nothing a little hydrocortisone cream can't fix. The hubby and I always stay here in Princeville at Sealodge because of the amazing unbeatable views. Just go on the hike already. Stop thinking about it.You won't regret it. If I can do it, you can definitely do it too. Make some adventurous memories with your family!! ALOHA :)

Bring water and snacks too, because you may find you love it so much that you want to stay for a good long while. The GREAT: + We got to swim with sea turtles! At one point there were about 4-5 sea turtles near us, all within maybe 20 feet of the beach. They didn't mind that we were there watching them. Such gentle and magnificent creatures. + There is shade on the beach due to large trees + It was beautiful + It wasn't that crowded (because of the parking situation! see below) The not-so-great: - The parking lot is tiny. We were 2nd in line to wait for a parking spot, thankfully we didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes. However, hubby got antsy because there was no telling how long we'd have to wait. It was WORTH the wait though! - The hike down is steep, especially right at the top. You will want one or ideally BOTH hands free so that you can grab onto the ropes on the sides to help yourself get down, and then haul yourself back up when you're leaving the beach. I don't think our 4yo daughter could have walked down by herself, but I think our 7yo daughter would have been OK. - The waves aren't the most kid-friendly - they're pretty strong. (The waves are fine for teens or adults though. Kids could go in the water with an adult close by, but you just wouldn't want kids to sit in the shallow water as they could get knocked over)

The only downfall is the parking. There are 10 spots in the public lot. You cannot park anywhere else in the surrounding lots, nor can you valet at the hotel for this particular beach. Your other option is the golf course lot about a mile down the road.

After my first visit, I understand why. It is an awesome beach. The entire bay is about 2 miles long, and consists of many smaller named parks, each with its own parking, green space, and facilities. To the far east is Black Pot Beach Park where the pier is located. Going west, there is Hanalei Pavilion Beach Park, centrally located with a large grassy area with a pavilion. Next is Wai'oli Beach Park, the largest of the parks with a big parking lot, sand volleyball courts, and ironwood trees. This beach will take you to the mouth of the Waioli Stream. There are more sandy areas beyond (Ines's secret beach and Waikoko) which are still on the bay, but would require walking on roads to get to. There is so much space that finding a spot to yourself is extremely easy, even on a busier day. The bay itself is protected and shallow, and has a very gently sloping ocean bottom. Depending on the tide, one can see people just hanging out far into the ocean, but still being able to stand up. And the frequent sand bars allow one to stand up as well. When we visited on a Saturday morning, the local surfing school was having a competition, using the large parking lot at Wai'oli Beach Park for gathering, and the nearby surf for the competition. One thing to note is that the main road to get to this area from the east is the Kuhio Hwy. On it, the Hanalei bridge crosses the Hanalei river and is only one lane with no traffic light. It wasn't so bad when when we came earlier in the morning, but it was pretty backed up trying to get to Hanalei Beach when we crossed back later that morning. I read later that the proper etiquette is to cross in a convoy of 5 - 7 cars at a time, giving a friendly wave to acknowledge that the other side is patiently waiting their turn.

Another beautiful, worth-visiting beach park on the north shore of Kauai. The central point is the park, that provides plenty of paved parking (parking is also available on the side of the road that hugs the coastline). This park has dedicated camping sites, and we saw many backpack tents set-up further in from the shoreline, usually underneath shade provided by the false kamani trees. The park contains a lot of green space and facilities. My wife and I ate our deli lunch at a nearby picnic table. Turtles often come on shore here, though there were none today (probably because we came in the afternoon). One thing we noticed were all the multi-million dollar homes right on the other side of Anini Road once you pass by Anini Beach Park traveling to the west (it's a dead end, so would need to circle back to get out). They are rentable via the typical companies, and would be great for beach loving families who want to spend some secluded time near the ocean. Also in the area are small pockets where one can park their car and go out into shoreline. From there, one can see and explore the large coral reef that rings this area.
