I was involved in an accident and was looking for attorney I had contacted them they seemed very helpful at first, they came to my house and took a statement and some pictures of my injuries. Was contacted by one of their associates she told me to send in all my receipts that I had so I did... Then I didn't hear anything from them/her. Come to find out she quit. I finally received a call from Karolina she was very helpful and seemed to care about my situation... The 1 star isn't for her she did her job very well...Now Telly the attorney on the other hand didn't do so well. I was sent at Document to sign which I refused multiple times. He had wrong information on document and missing bills that were to be paid, which would have come out of my pocket in the end if I didn't catch his mistakes...I was looking for more money in my pocket to help with my long-lasting injuries so i asked him if they would cut there percentage down to help me out... He said we don't negotiate our rates. So, I hung up with him and contacted a few other attorneys to see what my options were, all said to ask them to drop the rate. I had a work accident and my worst decision was to hire a lawyer, my employer cut my hours to more than half and my lawyer advise "you don't have to work there" after medical leave my employer took 4 weeks to call me back and my lawyer only collected workers comp for the days I was on physical therapy. DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY! STAY AWAY!! I have come to realize that there are hundreds of attorney firms that all specialize in injury law. Basically, if you are hurt at work or in a car accident, for example, you are entitled to compensation by law. You have rights and companies are liable for damages. Most attorneys make it seem as if they fight so hard for you when, in fact, you are already a winner and entitled to compensation from the very beginning. You just need a representative in court to talk for you. You could probably get more if you represent yourself in small claims court. This Lawyer, Howard Ankin, is a total jerk, and his associates. I received much less than originally promised. They know what they are doing. They actually negotiate larger amounts with companies and then turn around and offer you much less money. I would advise anybody wanting to hire this firm to actually get very involved in every court date and get copies from the courthouses of what actually happens because I never had to show for any court and I believe that's how they take advantage of you. I was promised Backpay, Medical, and Settlement damages. In the end they only gave me compensation for Medical and Settlement. However, what is worse is that my Medical Bill alone is much more than was a few thousand dollars more than the total amount they awarded me. Ankin Law back stabbed me. They are no good. And when I called and complained to the owner himself he was a big jerk about it all. He has ignored my emails and had failed to communicate since. Howard Ankin puts on a pretty smile on billboards and on TV commercials but in reality he is no good. The only thing they are good is for screwing people. Please consider other attorneys. These are no good. They may know the law but they are in it to help themselves. I know they got more money for me and kept it. That's what they do to everyone. Because of Covid they say you need not go to court. But I believe this benefits them because you don't get to see what actually happens. They could be making up stuff just to add more charges to your case. Bottoming is an attorney always gives a consultation or hears your story prior to taking on any case. If they take your case is because you've already won. If they turn your case down then you know they are not interested in it because they already know they will lose it or they don't see enough money in it for them. Everyone knows the bad reputation attorneys have of being "shady" and despite having to maintain the highest standards of ethical behavior,its only in theory because in real life we know it is not the case.... Welcome ANKIN LAW....everything I said in my prior review still stands and the service was so bad that I had to fire them and retain new counsel who did an excellent job. I will not just TELL you that they are bad I will SHOW you how unscrupulous they are and deceitful. Now I am sure there are some good attorneys in the practice, however, the one we had Derick Lax was the opposite and at one point maybe because they are just so overburdened with cases...(they target the Minority populations by posting billboards where they know the blue-collar workers live) and have commercials..which honestly only the bottom of the barrel law firms do that because the really good Petitioner firms.. simply go by word of mouth and do not need to resort to advertising but I digress.. So on one occasion, a surgery was recommended (this was a WC case ) and the DEFENSE side was asking US to pay using our own private health insurance and they would reimburse us... they didnt want to have to pay the surgery through their own WC insurance carrier because doing so makes their rates go up so one way to avoid this is to "suggest" that the employee use his own private health insurance to pay and they reimburse... but you will then be on the hook for every medical bill you get and the insurance's mercy that they actually do follow through on their word... but if they were truly "ethical" they would not have even suggested this in the first place...The employer has to pay all reasonable medical bills. Period. Well "Derick" not sure if out of pure laziness to not dispute this and argue this in court was trying to sway us to actually getting us to pay the surgery through our own private health insurance. We resisted and in the end.. the insurance had to pay..but to have your own attorney that you are paying to defend your rights side with the insurance company is a huge red flag that your interests are not their top priority. Also.. there was one time that our TTD payments stopped abruptly and he had to go in on a 19B to petition the court to reinstate the payment and for penalties/interest for the unjust delay.. Well... he did go to court but NO interest and penalties were awarded...so they called us to pick up the check from their offices..now the check was NOT from the Insurance Company but ANKIN LAW..so they had cashed it took out 20% for going to court..(even though its my understanding that the 20% only comes out at the end of the settlement) also..when we did go to the Chase branch to cash it since that is the bank they used, they told us they couldnt cash it because IT WAS NOT SIGNED!!!! So we had to GO BACK to them to have it signed.. had it been just our first screw up with this firm... Id let it pass..but given everything else about this firm... and their shady practices... well Ill leave it up to you to decide if the glowing reviews are real or fake. read more

Terrible. The worst ! I could have done better on my own. Multiple injuries I sustain and ONLY one was argued out and NOT to my satisfaction. I was notified ONLY 1 day before an arbitration hearing and received 10 minutes of prep before we seen the judge. When all was said and done the receptionist at Ankin asked if I would refer there firm and I replied " ABSOLUTELY NOT ". Now wouldn't you expect Howard Ankin the OWNER to call and say hey what happened or Whats wrong. NOPE ! You do not need a lawyer to file a claim and my advice is to if it's a single injury call and tell the insurance company you'd like to close your case. They will advise you of there offer, tell them you'd like to think about it. Then call them back a month or so later and tell them you thought the offer seemed low. This law firm deserves five stars! Recently, I suffered a personal injury that is not the type that plaintiff's attorneys who work on a contingency fee basis like to take. In other words, there's not much money in the lawsuit, so financially speaking, the attorney would probably lose money taking the lawsuit. Thus, I was having a hard time finding answers to my questions as no lawyer saw my case as being financially feasible. I googled personal injury lawyers and first came upon "Mullen Law Offices." I would never use them. They called me back in a timely manner (so in that respect they were good), but when I spoke to Mr. Mullen, he was very short and, even though I had a couple questions for him, he practically hung up on me as soon as he found out that my case wasn't worth my while. (I still need to get on their yelp site and write a bad review!) Enter Jon from this firm. Jon was outstanding. While ultimately he wasn't able to take my case, he spent over 45 minutes on the phone with me explaining everything that I could do, etc. I'm in law school, so I've considered taking this case myself, but I had some questions. Jon answered all my questions and gave me tips that are not taught in law school. Thus, he taught me several things that will ultimately help me avoid making any serious gaffes when filing this suit myself. Because of Jon, I highly recommend this firm. I think it reflects highly of a firm when its employees spend a great deal of time speaking with customers that will not prove to be of any financial assistance to them. read more

Based on my experiences I cannot recommend this place. They will not Keep you updated on your case. Months will go buy they ignored several of my emails,phone calls will get you nowhere. If you call and ask about your case the assistants will answer and say if you want to speak to your assigned attorney you will Need to make an appointment it might take 1- 2 weeks. The assistants dont have answerers they will give generic lines like it will be ok. It might take years to get a settlement. They advised me to settle for a low ball offer. I dislike this place so much it angers me. I can't for the life of me come up with a good reason I like handle my case. From day one I was greeted with irritations and told that my case was nothing. Feeling disrespected I hung up and they called me back about a month later, and for some reason I let them handle my case. I was originally told my case would be done witnin 6 to 9 months. it has been a year now and my check is lost in the mail so they say. Horrible for a workers comp case, these people let me go 8 weeks without a check. I was told "they said they mailed a check" every time i called to complain about not being paid by the insurance company. This ruined Christmas for my kids and myself. I filed a case with this law firm 2014 and am still waiting on a settlement that I was told a offer was made on. I am always calling and keep getting the run around; I call every other month since 2014 the lawyer NEVER calls me at all they would always put secretaries on the phone who has no education or training in law just to get you off the phone tell you what you want to hear instead of being up front. I am the family member of someone who works with president Obama, and the cousin that works directly side by side with governor Bruce Rauner; who was the one referred me to this law firm; which I was going to go to a different law firm in down town Chicago. I wish I would have stuck with my first choice. Howard Ankin does these commercials and have these lawyers that do not handle business and he will probably never rectify these issues I have read on the reviews; and boy have I read so many negative ones which I wish I could have read before making the choice of allowing them to handle both of my injury claims. Very Very disappointing... Theres is zero communication literally none. You can try to email but they will never reply. You can try to call and you will either get a rude assistant or a voicemail which I am completely convinced they never check. It is incredibly frustrating any time you try to get any info about your case and where it stands. You cant even set up a scheduled call with your attorney because their assistants don't even answer the phone. Really wish I would have checked here before going with these guys. Do yourself a favor and go with literally anyone but Ankin law. The worst part is, they needed info from me to further my case. They never even called to ask me for this info.
