I select Ann Arbor and get Grand Rapids or Muskegon. My mom got the print version and due to their messed up billing got cut off even though she paid them on time and even paid ahead. I tried to call their Customer Service, got all the way through their prompts and when I asked to speak to a rep, got hung up on three times. Not worth the aggravation. She has decided to just stop subscribing.

I also agree with Dan R., in that many of their reports 'imply' why xyz is happening, rather then providing the actual facts... annarbor.com became a TABLOID NEWS... they hype things up with sensational headlines, but the content of the article is lacking... you walk away with more questions then answers... many of their articles is 'informational based'...

I can't believe I'm the first to review Current! This mag is THE source for what to do, where to…read moreeat, and where to catch local bands in Washtenaw County, and it's widely available for free in libraries, coffee shops and other local businesses. One highlight is their annual "best of" issue, where they let readers nominate best restaurants, arts and entertainment venues and more. Each section is broken down further into a variety of categories. For instance, you can make nominations for "Best Cheap Eats" or "Best Middle Eastern Restaurant" for the "Food and Drink" section. They also put out an exhaustive local music directory each November in addition to their brief monthly listings. The magazine carries a mix of eclectic local columns about books, music and culture each month as well as calendars of things to do in the area for that month. I also have a soft spot in my heart for Current because of their annual Fiction and Poetry contest, showcasing local writing talent. Full disclosure, I won a third prize in the fiction category one year and first place in poetry another year. They have a nice ceremony with food and door prizes for the winners and their friends and family, too.

It seems that the students as a journalists lack the wisdom of age, frequently jumping on some "passing trend" train to get name. IT appears there is not a guiding principle for the paper, and merely a stitched fabric of opinionated students that are vying for attention. I will stick to the Nation and Atlantic to get in depth views even though they may not deal with my "hood" issues. But otherwise good learning ground how to write, ... just keep it within its own boundaries so you do not confuse people around you. J.T.
