Really nice park with a lot of space. It is right by a school. There is a big playground for the kids. If you head up the stairs, there is a huge field with a large running track around it which worked out well for me. Based on the previous reviews I had higher expectations for this playground. The equipment is older, a bit weathered and the layout of the playground leaves something to be desired. It's sort of fragmented with blind spots where you can't always see where your kid goes, and if you have younger ones that is a little concerning. There are two big giant slides that you have to climb a tall set of rickety wooden stairs to get up to go down. Problem is, the stairs continue all the way up past the slide to an open area which if you have a runner isn't ideal. There was an unhoused person laying down near the smaller children's play area which made me a little uncomfortable. I understand he has nowhere to really go, but taking up the sitting area there was not a welcome sight. Overall, I would not make this a priority playground to return to. There are better playgrounds within the general vicinity. read more

Wow what a great park! Was driving on our way to the boardwalk after visiting The Mystery Spot ( I got lost, don't ask me how,) when its "huge blue balls," (not even joking,) caught our attention. It wasn't until we had parked that we realized just how adventurous this park was. The huge slide intimidated my little girl at first, but after a bit of comforting motivation she was blasting down on her own many many times. The bridge and castle like playground offers a great photo opp. The park itself seems like a really safe place to enjoy the day. At no point did I feel worried either because of the playground structure or the environment. read more

This is a huge and clean park that has something for toddlers and older children; 2 play structures, a set of swings, a tire, and a steep ass slide. Several benches for parents to sit and watch on although I wish there was a padded playground for parents to leave their kids so that they get to play and remain safe whilst the parent(s) get some peace and quiet. This is an important tip: slide at your own risk if you are an adult. Craig hurt his tailbone after sliding down twice, I think. A decent flight of stairs provides a good workout if you need to incorporate cardio in your life. Speaking of which, I will try and get here tomorrow morning. read more

Excellent park huge sliding area best park I've ever been too. Very good walking park also but be careful with little ones on the stairs.

Here for 2019 Breakers Cup Tournament and couldn't be more displeased with the field conditions. Grass is dead and full of gopher holes (& gophers are even present). We've seen multiple ankle injuries from the holes and uneven ground. Really disappointed this year. read more

This park is a lot of fun but my kid looks covered in ashes after playing here. There's something weird about the sand. It's like crushed concrete (maybe shells? Glass??) and there's a lot of rocks that make it kinda painful to walk on with bare feet. Also HELLA DUSTY. I also wish there were more shaded playground areas. Only the hot metal slide is shaded. Soquel can do better for its kids. read more

Awesome playground structure with multiple slides, a big long bridge, and plenty of swings. This is, hands-down, the best park in the County! There are picnic tables under pavilion structures and a very large grassy area for picnicking on the lawn. Four huge blue balls comprise an onsite art installation, giving the park the nickname, "Blue Ball Park". Great for babies and toddlers and not far at all from the awesome coffee shop, The Ugly Mug. Grab your cup o' joe and then let the kiddies play! The only downside is the bees in the picnic area! There are too many of them! Oh, I should add that the pavilions over the picnic tables don't offer complete shade either! Bring hats or something to minimize squinting. read more

I know this park as The Blue Ball Park. This is where my husband and my son play soccer. This park is Huge. There is a place to play baseball and soccer. There are restrooms. Perfect place to walk. There is a picnic area. There is enough parking and it is clean. I know there is more but I have only been here a few times. I'm not sure what else there is yet. Must check it out! read more

Great park for toddlers. Also a nice place for moms to meet up with infants and have a picnic. The super tall slide is really hard on the back and tailbone- would suggest avoiding. Also some fun little place to climb around if your child likes more adventure. read more

What a fantastic park! I have a three year old and she had so much fun on both the toddler playground and the bigger play structure. She also loved the giant slide! I was nervous at first about the speed of such an enormous metal slide but it wasn't bad at all. She had a blast! She also has a lot of fun playing in the sand. We brought sand toys to share with the other kids and had fun digging and raking in the sand! Can't wait to go back :) read more

Went for the playground which is modern and fun. There were lots of people there, a zillion kids at the structure, with plenty of benches for parents to sit. Dog walkers on leash, little kids riding small scooters. Love the blue balls! read more

Best park in the area. If you are a parent you must know where this park is.I particularly like this because it has a great baby area, as well as a nice big kid part, which works well for me because I have a 1 & 8 year old. It is a sand bottom, which is great for crawlers, 2 baby swings and a great play structure the little ones. For the big kids, there is a huge slide, regular swings, a cave, and a cool play structure. There is a nice grass area and picnic tables which seem to be popular for birthday parties. It has plenty of easy access parking, and bathrooms. If I want to get excersize, I walk the stairs a few times. read more

Anna Jean Cummings Park is also known as "Blue Ball Park" because of the five-foot tall, blue, ball sculptures scattered across the hillside nearby. The park includes an 80-foot 'wavy' slide, as well as two play structures; one for the two-to-five year-old set, and another for the five year-old and up kiddos. The playground has plenty of activities built into the structures - car steering wheel, mazes, bridges, slides, and much more. Also, there are a number of picnic tables nearly that feature shade coverings. However, the playground is uncovered (zero trees), so it can be hot on an above-average temperature day. Also, the play area ground-cover is sand ... great for kid falls, but not great for open-toed shoes or clothing. Overall, a great park - safe, diverse play opportunities, and big enough to accommodate lots of kids and families. read more

This is a great park. I live quite near this park, and it's amazing. Me and my friends hang out here a ton. It's a clean park, a lot of room to run, play, all that stuff. One thing we like to do at blue ball park(what we call it. For obvious reasons. The big blue balls, four I believe in total, scattered around the park.) is try and get up and stand on the blue balls(don't take that the wrong way. I know I would but still). I never was able to, but maybe you can. And this park has a little bit of people in it. Never to many though. Maybe on birthdays there are more people than normal, but normally, not that many people compared to some parks. read more

This is a bathroom review only: Yes, park bathrooms are almost never kept up, but this one is the worst I have EVER sen which says a lot, considering I have an almost 11 yo and bring him to new playgrounds sometimes on a weekly basis. We stopped here just to use the bathroom really quick and it was so repulsive and vile in both his and my bathroom that I left as soon as I saw each of them. There is no excuse to have a public bathroom to this level of unsanitary and disgusting! DON'T HAVE A FUCKING BATHROOM IF YOU HAVE NO INTENTION OF MAINTAINING! he park and rec here should be embarrassed as fuck! Not only was the extra toilet paper sitting on the back of the toilet seat and covered in black mildew, but the floors were covered in dirt and probably feces, one door didn't lock, the toilets were filled with feces and blood, and the odor was like nothing I have ever smelled. This is a place for children!!!! HOW DARE YOU ALLOW IT TO GET THIS WAY! YOU ARE BAD PEOPLE! Never will I allow my son to come to this park. read more

This park is great! Huge play area for kids of all ages. Open space surrounding the park on all sides. Slides, swings and a huge play structure. Only possible downside is big structure has very tall steps. However, my two year old did fine on them. Certain areas to big slides are steep. read more

Great park for walking or for the kids. There is a negative review on here re: the bathrooms, I have visited this park for MANY years and have never seen anything negative in that regard. Park provides access to Soquel High baseball as well as to miles of hiking just to the west of the park (up the hill at the very back). read more
