Staffer in particular by the name of Gina was very rude on the phone, and her attitude alone makes me want to go elsewhere for treatment. She should be In a job that stays far away from interacting with people. Karen is pretty nice, and the gentleman (unsure name) was very nice. We were late to our appointment because our sitter could only be there at 120, when our appointment started at 130. I called the day before to see if we could schedule our appointment for 145, and Karen told me there is a 15 min grace period. We got there 19 minutes past and were told we needed to reschedule because they are "very busy" and behind today (even though the day before they had a 2pm appointment). By the looks of it, they were happy to have a reason to lose an appointment slot to help them get back on track from being so behind. Very unsympathetic about the whole situation. Highly inconvenient that they don't allow children in the exam rooms, even when accompanied by another adult. My son is 19 months and it's really hard to find someone to watch him for our appointments. We rescheduled twice trying to accommodate a sitter for our appointment, only to get there a few minutes late and have them turn us away. They say they do allow children - in the lobby (so why would your significant other bother even being there if that's the case?) because of this rule, my husband won't be able to attend our ultrasound. To make matters worse, they prohibit recording/filming in their rooms. So your significant other will be wholly barred from experiencing anything at all from that appointment unless they are in the exam room (of course, without children). 2 stars given because dr. Sweeney was actually nice from my previous experience.

She was rude and wholly incompassionate about the bad news she was sharing about my pregnancy. The doctor was also rude and incompassionate. We switched to a different specialist office and had an entirely different experience. I would absolutely NOT recommend this practice to anyone with a high risk pregnancy. I can say with 100% certainty, I have never been treated so poorly by a professional establishment in my entire life. Ps- they also do not allow children in their office (another thing that Aria made sure to scold me of in the midst of talking about the risks to my new baby).

We cannot say enough wonderful things about DCBD. This was my/our first pregnancy, and we truly…read morefelt supported every step of the way by their team. Especially in those last 1-2 months, we leaned so heavily on the birth doulas and they responded to all of our questions and concerns immediately. We learned the most about how to care for our daughter and what was happening in my body from DCBD. I went into labor and the birth experience feeling ready and excited, and that's because of the experience, information, and kindness that were shared with us ahead of time. The birth - nearly 4 months later, and we are still talking about Camille! We are going to remember her forever - she was such a wonderful presence during my entire labor and after, and we don't know what we would have done without her. She made sure my husband and I knew what was happening, she advocated for us, she ensured I was comfortable (well, as comfortable as you can be in labor), and she really rooted for us the whole time. I felt safe because she was with us. And Ella - we were shocked that someone who didn't *have* to be there, stayed for the entire labor, participated, and stayed after when we were transferred to the postpartum room! She will be (or already is) a phenomenal birth doula. We felt so lucky to have Camille and Ella. Post birth - Lolonyo came to our house the very first night we were back from the hospital, and what a gift she is. She taught us how to soothe a baby, how to change a diaper (I'm sure they showed us in the hospital... but I could not remember haha). We had her for several nights during those first 2 months and we were so, so grateful to wake up the next morning refreshed, rested, and with the knowledge that our daughter had been held in loving arms all night long. She was never judgmental and was always supportive as we navigated breastfeeding, safe cosleeping, and everything else. We also had Joanna for several daytime visits. She always made sure to check in on my mental and physical health, which was so appreciated, and she was so helpful. We always felt like we were able to reset a bit after her visits, because she'd leave behind clean bottles and pump parts and a rested (and sometimes still sleeping) baby, and we would have had time to ourselves to shower and get a little more organized. She made our chaotic lives feel lighter, and we loved her for that. As a DCBD member you'll also have the opportunity to be part of a postpartum circle of other parents going through what you did. Shaleen and Elizabeth gave us space to talk through birth and everything that comes after, while feeling supported and safe. I'm still friends with some of the parents from my circle. Yoga is so fun to connect with my baby and also other moms. Plus Amanda is a great instructor! Some of their other classes are on the pricey side is the only thing but it's such a great resource for moms! Also their location can be a bit tricky to find but the main door is off Keswick Rd (and is stroller friendly). Walk in past the dress shop and bare to the right. There's a big parking lot in the back.

That way you end up inadvertently meeting the different doulas. We went with Cara. She has a ton of experience and super chill vibe. Our hospital was not allowing extra visitors due to COVID so we signed up for a virtual doula service. She met with us a few times before the birth to review questions, birth plan, and provide support. She was also available via email for random questions that came up in between. The day of my labor I reached out to her as needed and she guided me through some of the decisions we had to make. Her support made it so that I could better advocate for myself and my baby during my labor. She was 100% supportive of all my decisions and in the end I ended up having a beautiful and quick birth. I am so happy we got a doula and recommend it to anyone no matter what type of brith you are planning on having. I found the groups to be more helpful towards the beginning of my pregnancy, especially as it was a time that COVID was just ramping up. The only issue is that the people in group vary from week to week. I think it would be nice to be able to connect with the same group from week to week so there is some continuity.

I've had several pap smears in my life since I am of a certain age. The experience I had here was…read morepainful, I felt like the doctor used a much larger speculum than necessary as insertion and especially pulling out hurt. The day after, my lower back hurt a LOT. This has never happened before and the pain lasted for 2 days. This also sounds weird but the very second the doctor went to my crotch during the pelvic exam (I could not see her because of the gown covering my legs), I could hear laughter erupt right outside the room. After the appointment when I went to check out, I made eye contact with 2 receptionists who were smirking at me in a way that would suggest that they knew something or were laughing at me specifically. I did a double-take because I was taken aback by these looks. They caught my eye again and avoided my gaze afterwards. This might seem like nothing but the combination of the well-timed laughter, the looks of malicious glee from the 2 receptionists, as well as an uncomfortable smirk from the doctor herself as she looked down at my body when escorting me out of the room (after pelvic exam and breast exam), leads me to believe that my privacy was deeply violated. I'm not sure what exactly happened but I feel extremely uncomfortable by my experience and I won't be coming back.

She doesn't…read morerush through the appointments and just really takes the time to listen and even asks "what else?", giving me the time to really open up with any questions or concerns. The rest of the office staff are lovey, too. And during a really difficult health experience I had recently, the office called and checked in with me outside of any visits just to see how I was doing--just a little touch of human compassion like that can really go a long way. Plus, the gowns they give you to wear during your exams at this office are real cotton gowns that can fully wrap around you instead of those cheap paper "gowns" some clinics give that are scratchy and don't cover anything. Little touches like that just makes coming to this office feel so much more dignified and cared for than some other places I've been.
