It even has an awesome place to grab food and coffee. The festival though one thing rubbed me the wrong way and sadly made me not want to bring my business to andersons again. While at the festival, they had a bounce house for the kiddos- it was a big hit, only downfall was the slide area the kids were literally landing on hard asphalt on their behinds, when I brought it up to the young man he tried his hardest to resolve the problem, they brought little quilts, once again sadly it didn't help the problem. I watched three other kids land hard on their behinds, and the last one a little boy landed and knocked the wind out of himself. After that my friend and I went up to whom I'd assume was the event runner (young lady in blue) and she seemed worried and said she'd try to find something else, there was another gal next to her, when the young gentleman asked if he should close down the house (which he should have kids were getting hurt) she replied "no keep it up, we did all we could" and walked away. I'm appalled that she did not care whatsoever that children were getting hurt. Taking the house down would have not interrupted the event whatsoever but she thought jeopardizing children's well being was fine. Absolutely unprofessional.

They came over and…read moregave a very well priced estimate of what the job would cost which included stump grinding. They started the job in the middle of March and stated this would be a 2 week process. It turned into a 2 month process and they didnt finish until the middle of May. They were delayed when they dropped a branch on the power line and it was on the ground. This was a big safety hazard and they had to wait for the power company to make it safe again. They also wouldnt work in the rain....until the last week when it was raining every day and they still would work to finally finish the job Here's where things really went wrong. I was asked if I wanted some of the wood for whatever. I said sure, if you can make it manageable. One of the workers put his chainsaw blade up to some of the tree that was which I said was perfect. They asked me how much of the wood I wanted, I stated, all if it if its manageable. Jimmy, who I think is the owner comes by and says the job is complete. They had left these huge chunks on the lawn, which was destroyed, and when he comes over for the final payment, I asked him, what am I gonna do with this. I cant move this. He said he could move it for price. In the contract we had, it stated they would clean up. Check the pictures posted below and let me know if that would fill the bill. Jimmy stated, "I have people saying you wanted all of the wood." I told him I do if it was manageable. Jimmy then said, "I have someone who can come over and split this up for you and I'll get back to you by the end of the week." He never got back to me. I made several calls maybe 15, of only 1 which was returned. This process of cleaning up to see what was left has taken me 7 months to clean up what I can. The tree stump grinding wasnt finished either. Its still above ground over most of where the tree was and part of it is still sticking up another foot above ground. It also looked like they were in the process of cutting the wood up and were told to leave it alone. Several pieces were cut around 20 inches but not all the way through. If they couldnt do what was promised, they should at least notify me and I could have made that choice to where to take it away or leave it but when Jimmy told me he could get someone to come and split the wood, I would have taken the wood. If he had been upfront, it would have been, take it away. 3 people cant even budge several of what was left. I shouldnt have ever given the 2nd check as the job wasnt finished. Thats a my mistake. I trust people at their word. If you do work with them, make sure its 100% finished or you will get ghosted like myself

What a gem! We snuck in at the wire here with about 40 minutes to closing on Saturday last weekend…read morewhile exploring the Hilton Village area of Newport News. The owner inside was friendly and said come on in and take your time. She explained that they had different rooms inside and all were rented out to different vendors who had their own style and items for sale. WIN! Just my kind of shop. This shop is much larger than expected with something like 10 rooms inside and they all do have a very different feel. We found antiques, glasswares, books, stuffed animals, watercolor art, wall art, furniture, jewelry, beads, geodes, you name it, it's probably in here. We actually stayed for the entire 40 minutes and everyone found something to purchase. The vibe was easy and unassuming and the owner left us to browse without hovering at all. She easily said to go upstairs and take a look as there were some rooms up there too and she stayed at the front while we browsed. The side right off the main entry has a space where she said during summer she serves Lolly's ice cream flavors from the VAB area (noms). I saw easily like a dozen things I could've purchased but I'm trying to make better choices so I abstained, but if they're there when I come back to run a race in two weeks I'll call it fate and probably get them, ha! If you are in this area and looking for gifts and decor and love to antique, poke your head in here and give this spot a try for sure. It looks almost like a plant store from the outside as the front has a grown-up secret garden look.

It was really awesome going into each room of the house and seeing what products there were being offered. There were pillows, decor, clothing, vintage items of all kinds, vinyl records, jewelry, etc. I guess you could say it's kind of like a flea market in a sense. Definitely a great place for unique finds or gifts!

We had two small trees taken down and a large limb off another tree and some dead wood In Hampton. The crew didn't pay much attention to surrounding plants and damaged some, they could do better. They also were to grind stumps, which was sorta done. The person that came out to look at the stumps to be ground stated the small stump grinding machine would be used so not to destroy the surrounding area and plants. The roots that were around stumps would be done as well. Also, we were told the grinding debris would be cleaned up and taken away. This is what we ended up with for the stump grinding. A large stump grinder was brought to the job, one operated by remote, not the small unit, the grinder tore the yard up in several places and the borders around the area. The stump in one area were pretty much ground down but the roots around the actual stump, still there and damaged plants. The other stump, about 1/3 taken down. The debris, about a trash can load was taken away, but we have hauled away 5 wheelbarrow of debris that was thrown in the holes or mixed into the mulch. When we contacted the office with a picture of the grinder and asked if this is what they consider a small grinder we were told no, this was the best grinder for our job. Not sure how the person sitting in an office knows what is best when their representative STANDING in your yard looking at what needs to be done states what will be used and how. If you need trees removed, get plenty of estimates and details of how and what the process entails. If you need stumps removed, call around, just skip Smith's Tree Service for that work, just not worth what happens or doesn't happen.
