I find this business disgusting and disrespectful. Recently, we got married and as a wedding gift we received a couples massage for Annie's Massage Spa on 7th St., in Frederick. We had our appointment today. When we entered the business, front desk lady whom spoke no English pointed to us to fill out a very generic intake form using markers on an erasable form. Another lady escorted us back to our room, giving no instructions closed the door. My husband has never had a massage before, but I have been through massage school and have had many massages. So I informed him for us to go ahead and undressed and lay on our tables. A few minutes later, the massage ladies entered the room, had us lay face down massage us with a sheet completely covered over our bodies for about 20 minutes. My massage person then started massaging on my actual skin. The massage was very disconnected. She would massage a little bit around my shoulders and then completely move down to my lower back never once massaging my legs. She did massage around my calfs to my feet. As my face was down, I did not see what was going on on the other table. My massage person was massaging a lot over my bones, not my muscles, which made it very discomforting. Long story short after we left, my husband felt very insecure about his massage. He told me that she pulled down hid underwear, started massaging his glutes, pulled back up his underwear massaging up his thigh so high that it nearly touched between his legs. Then she got on the table, straddle him with her crotch on his butt while massaging his back and then repositioned her body straddle on him again While massaging his legs going up extremely close to his private areas pretty much touching them. I told him that this is not how a massage should be again going through massage school and having multiple massages. If you are to get on the table, your knees are placed in the glutes giving pressure points while massaging the back, but you're never to turn around and massage from the opposite position. You are to never pull down cothing let alone underwear to massage an area. If a person keeps on curtain clothing then that is an indication not to massage or you can massage the area with the sheet covering WITH permission. Unpon leaving the two massage people I can't even call them Therapist along with the front desk was standing there like vultures waiting on money. My husband had already gave the gift cards and the tip when I came out of the restroom he was already outside. The front desk lady looked at me and said "is this all tip you're giving for both of them? " we will never return to this so-called place of business!!! read more

Just came from a great 90 minute massage plus 10 minute hot stone. Should have been 1hr and 40 minutes total. That is what I booked. I even showed a screenshot of the booking that says 1 hour and 40 minutes at the top. The receptionist said that isn't the way it was supposed to be. However my last appointment was the full-time with the hot stone. She said she would have to fix that. Even the masseuse I had on the appointment before confirmed with me that it would be 1 hour and 40 minutes. Not going to get upset over 10 bucks because I did get the hot stone. Although sometimes they spend a little to long on my back. That doesn't always help. I workout a lot and and today she could have spent that 10 minutes on my glutes and with the hot stones too. To think they were very willing and ready to add another half hour. Or take extra tip. I believe a hour and 40 should be enough time to get the job done. Its hard to communicate with them. I need a translator sometimes. Maybe next time no hot stone. Save my money for the tip. read more

The "massage therapist " did not use any lotion or oil, even if I listed it on the patient worksheet. I also listed the areas I wanted her to focus on, and she had no idea. So she started rubbing my back with the sheet with on dry skin, until it started really hurting and I told her to please use lotion. She started sighing in frustration, and she finally used it. My upper back hurts so much because of that rubbing with the sheet, please see the picture. When I told her to focus on my neck and shoulders, she acted frustrated AGAIN. She also climbed on the table and placed her knees on my buttocks, without even asking if it would be ok with me. A few times she opened the door to talk to the front desk person during my massage. Incorrect pricing. I had foot reflexology here for the first and last time today. I called again and spoke to a gentleman and he booked me for a one hour foot reflexology appointment. When I arrived he confirmed it was a one hour foot reflexology. I received a good hour long foot reflexology from Lulu. The website says it cost $60 for a one hour foot reflexology. The sign posted in this spa says $60 for a one hour foot reflexology. The man at the desk told me it cost $70. Lulu was standing at the desk waiting for her tip and corrected him by telling him it was reflexology. I thought maybe he misspoke and I pulled out $60 which was the correct amount. He did not take it as he was waiting for $70. So I had to give him $70 when the website And the in person sign says $60. And when the therapist herself is saying it was reflexology (so he is incorrectly asking for more.) This might have been a place I would return to for reflexology but because he makes up whatever he wants to charge after the service, I will not be back. read more

I come here all the time with at least 2 other people and I we have never had a bad experience until yesterday. The lady who did my massage was on her phone the entire time leaving her with only 1 hand free for my massage. I could feel her phone vibrating on the bed when she received messages and when I turned over to lay on my back I could see the illumination of her phone. How is it even appropriate for her to bring her phone into the room when I am fully undressed??! I paid for my massage and didn't tip her so she stopped me on my way out and asked for it. I've been having a lot of soreness and muscle tension in my back. I was hoping to get resolved. I love this place! I'm not great at committing to an appt, I'm more spur of the moment and I love that I can walk in and get an appt pretty much immediately. Whenever I'm sore and need some muscular work, I come and get a great deep tissue massage, And always leave feeling better than I walked in. I know some reviews comment on the signage, but my take is that it is a precaution so that it doesn't put the masseuses in unnecessary situations. It's obvious none of them are trained professionals. They are aggressive and unwelcoming. I asked for deep tissue, not to be physically assaulted. The first 10 minutes are them pushing on your body over the towels. She pushed so hard on my back my ribs genuinely felt like they were about to break. They rarely use their hands or fingers. Primarily use their elbows and they push directly onto your bones. It feels like they mistake your bones for knots and I have told the lady to stop a few times. She even used her elbows on my fingers and i had to stop her because it felt like it would break. I asked her multiple times to use her hands and fingers more and she was not receptive. She felt like she was in a rush and would even quickly rip off the blanket and my parts would be exposed. I highly don't recommend coming here unless you want to be aggressively shoved into a massage bed and left feeling worse than you already were. I also highly recommend they try to massage each other so they know how bad it feels. read more

The massage itself wasn't bad the woman who massage me was a little rough with the elbows, but she did ask me and I did let her know. I'm not fully sure she understood everything I was saying. I also felt a little exposed most massage places have certain techniques to keep you partially covered. When they work on one side of you at one point I felt my bare bottom was exposed and it was a little chilly in the room. I think the worst part was the tip I gave between 18%,to 20% tip my massage cost $60 20% is 12 dollars. I believe I gave her 11 which is pretty close to 20%. She basically snatch the money out of my hand didn't say thank you and walked away. I went to the ATM because they charge two extra dollars if you use your card at their place anyway the ATM charge me a fee I got $20 out. I asked for a 10 a five and five ones the woman at the front desk told me she didn't have any ones. 20% would've been $12 I gave 11 which is pretty close to 20% but she just snatched the money didn't say thank you and walked off very. I believe the positive reviews of this place are probably fake and the negative ones are legitimate. This place is TERRIBLE. Do not go here. Years ago I had a contract with Massage Envy where I got one every month on a plan, and they are a little expensive but they are professional and know what they're doing, so I am comparing Annie's to ACTUAL PROFESSIONALS. They will ask you if anything in particular is hurting or needs more attention... they speak f'n English...if you go to Annie's Massage, they don't even speak more than a few words of English, so if you have any kinds of concerns or pains you can forget about that. When I went in I asked the lady to focus on my lower legs and feet because I am on my feet all day and they really hurt. She said "ok" but I only realized toward the end she didn't understand me at all because I checked the clock and she never even touched my feet. I had to sit all the way up and point at my feet and teach her the goddamn word and tell her how to do her job. She put hot stones on me that I didn't want and didn't ask for and they burned me. She hurt my back muscles and spine AND hip bones by pushing way too hard with her elbows and thumbs. That woman is NOT a professional because harming people is NOT why they are there. When I went in I had foot and leg pain; when I left I had foot, leg and neck pain from her not knowing what the F she's doing. They should be banned from this town or forced to hire people who actually know what they are doing. read more

I stopped by after flying in for business and couldn't find a place near my destination so googled Annie's and sure glad I found it. Appointment was easy to make and confirmation text. Location is clean in a a safe well lit strip mall. No blocked windows etc. Very safe feeling. Staff was welcoming and Coco (who I asked for after reading reviews) was phenomenal. For the low cost of this place I couldn't believe the attention to detail she was giving. Even hot stones! My lower back felt much better after her skilled hands/elbows loosened all the muscles up. Only miss was my chest area (pecs) I didn't ask during the session because I didn't want her to think I wanted anything inappropriate. Next time will speak with the front desk guy and make sure that's ok. And yes next time I'm in Maryland I will make time to stop by and see Coco for sure. It is a bit loud and they leave the doors cracked open i'm sure for safety etc. But everything else was so amazing. read more

I was happy to get a same day appointment. When I went in the person insisted I had a 30 minute massage booked till I showed him the email confirming the hour massage I had booked. The intake form was a wipe away laminated sheet - weird. Anyways the massage was good. No complains there. The masseuse was not trained from what I could tell but was good at what she did. She asked if I wanted it extended to 90 minutes mid way and I was fine with it. Surprised she could fit me in. What was weird was the sign about sex in the room. I mean it's weird when it's pointed out. Like why would you need to if you are an above board place. Then the credit card charge had a $2 additional for using it. Didn't see the sign and didn't know about it. Wish I had - felt extorted. The front desk guy is creepy as hell. With his earrings and all - gave me the creeps.
