Alright, so maybe you're new to the area, maybe you're wanting to get back into church, maybe…read moreyou're looking for a good group of people, maybe you've never been to church and want to see what all the fuss is about; Ghent Church is a family and no matter what you're looking for, where you're coming from, everyone there will treat you like family. I was looking for a Christian church for quite some time after my last church that I attended stopped getting together. I was looking for a smaller church, more of a group, (I like the unity of smaller churches) I was looking for a place where people could voice opinions, a place where I didn't feel judged, of course there were a lot more aspects to what I was looking for but I'm going to keep the list short, you get the idea. First time I attended Ghent Church was at their Wednesday night Bible Study, which is held at one of the members homes. So not knowing a soul, going by myself I entered this persons house, I was hesitant but I was greeted with open arms, they wanted to know about ME and who I was, like I said family. The messages are always good and put together in a manner of something you can understand and/or relate to, you also won't want to sink in your chair and feel like you're being condemned to hell, they're not there to make you feel bad about yourself but to learn more about God and his ways. Ghent Church doesn't have a choir or a 5 piece band, but the worship is full of praise and the songs range from old hymnals to contemporary. Two Wednesdays out of the month they have a Homeless Outreach, where they help feed the less fortunate. Always a good time! Saturday night is when they have service, I like it because getting up early on a Sunday morning rarely happens for me. Sometimes everyone gets together and goes somewhere for fellowship afterwards. It's a tight knit group full of love and laughter who welcomes anyone to join, the more the merrier. So hey, if it sounds like something you've been looking for or just want to check out, I say YAY, cause this place makes me want to come church and you never know it could be the answer to your prayers.. ;)

Disclaimer: I am a member of this church, but I am going to write my review from the perspective I…read morehad when I was looking for a church. When beginning our search for a church we had several criteria that were very important: 1) theologically sound and aligned to our beliefs, 2) contemporary worship style and 3) effective and welcoming community. We tried several churches that did the first two points very well, but were lacking in the third. As we continued finding our other choices lacking, priorities #2 and 3 flip-flopped, so we started compromising on the purely contemporary style. That opened up the possibility of Trinity, which has a blended worship style: some traditional hymns, and some contemporary style music. Because it is Presbyterian, it met our first priority, which was of the utmost importance. It also helped that the pastors are very amiable and approachable in their preaching and in their congregational interactions. The community that exists here is very welcoming, with people not just being conversational with the people they know, but taking the time to go beyond the awkward handshake with a stranger. I also very much like the fact that there isn't a weird "greeting time" at the beginning of the service. Instead, everyone mills about after service to catch up with friends and meet new people. There are plenty of community groups to make closer connections in, as well as church-wide welcoming activities such as visitor desserts hosted by the lead pastor and his family, as well as military family potlucks for that particular demographic. We have been very happy with joining this church, and would recommend it to anyone looking to find a welcoming community that covers all age and life stages!

This is a great church. It's not gigantic, but is a group of folks from diverse backgrounds and…read morelifestyles coming together. Part of the church motto is "Don't do life alone" and the members here certainly embody this. They have a coffee shop with free coffee and snacks so that everyone can mingle before service. The pastor, Brian, is very personable and his sermons not only speak to you at your core, but he is very funny as well. I, for one, love to laugh so this is a huge plus in my book! The service starts at 10:30, which is great for those of us who aren't exactly morning people. (Me!) You can expect to be out no later than noon. This church is definitely non-denominational. The music is contemporary and the people are very friendly and welcoming. Got kids??? They have a nursery (Infants and toddlers) and a children's church where they sing songs, play games, and learn a lesson. All of the workers have received a thorough background check and the children's department uses the guardian training program for the safety of all the kids. If there is ever an issue that needs your attention regarding your baby or toddler, there is a number board in the sanctuary that will let you know immediately and discreetly by displaying a number assigned to your child. Very convenient and assuring to know that you will be kept in the loop as to how your kiddo is doing. All in all, this is an amazing church with wonderful people. We are now regular attendees!
