He was friendly, down-to-earth, and clearly knew his stuff. The quote to replace the damaged fence and driveway gate was very reasonable--and the work was scheduled just a few days later. Mike sat down and explained their installation process. I was very impressed with the technique they use instead of cementing 4x4's in the ground. My main concern was making sure the post would not lean due to soupy ground etc. I have never saw such a great idea that they use instead of cementing post. Their installation process of supporting the sections was great! Mike showed me a video of how they install. Cannot beat their install process! I'm familiar with how privacy fences are installed but I must admit seeing how they do it, my fear of anything moving or leaning over time left me. Mike was very pleasant to talk to. We met with Alvord Builders in January 2018, made deposits in February, and signed a contract in…read moreMay to have them build a home for us. The purchase price on the contract was only good for thirty days which we didn't think would be an issue until Alvord Builders presented us with a contract addendum for an increase in lumber cost, and they tried to give themselves the right to modify the purchase price on all other materials. We were fine with the fixed increase in lumber, but not with giving them the right to modify the purchase price. We told Alvord Builders we would not be signing the addendum, or having them build for us. Alvord Builders maintains no wrong doing, claims we don't understand the contract language, and that we were suppose to just trust them. In trying to recover at least a portion of our deposit we were told that they would not return any of the deposits from the construction contract or the lot, and that if we wrote any reviews about them that they would sue us. This confirms for us that we made the right decision. We are out close to $8,000 in deposits and bank fees because we wouldn't give Alvord Builders the right to change the purchase price at will. We are walking away not even owning the house plans we paid to have drawn under threat of being sued if we share our story so that others can avoid the same.
