We recently bought an older home near the university with fabulous 60's mid century modern charm. Unfortunately all the electrical was from the 50's with no ground wires and only two prong outlets! Ken came to our rescue and found a creative solution to swap out all our outlets to the three prong standard so that everything is protected and ADHERES TO CURRENT CODE and he did it without having to rewire the entire house! HONEST. EXCEPTIONAL. CLEAR. Those are all words to explain Ken at Anthem Electric. It's so rare for a person who provides services these days to exhibit those qualities. But Ken is one of the most honest people I've ever met. And in the future, I'll wait until he's available to perform any electrical service I may ever need, even if that means doing without for a while. In order to get our brand new dishwasher working, we had to hire a different company to fix our power to our new dishwasher. That electrician, without hesitating, told me we needed a new electrical panel, and that it needed to be upgraded from a 100amp panel to a 200amp panel. Cost? $5,850. And stressed that we needed to have it done RIGHT AWAY. Cut to Ken. Comes to the appointment exactly on time. Takes a look at our panel. Says that it looks great. That he sees nothing wrong with it. Proceeds to check the wires. He says that the only thing that we might want to do is change out two of the circuits, which appear to be the wrong type for our panel. He will see if he has any in his van. He does! Ken tells me a lot about how the panel works, why it would not be necessary to get a new panel, and why a 200amp panel would be excessive, unless we wanted to install a Tesla car charger (we don't have a Tesla). He tells me the type of panel we have is a very good panel and shows me what to look for in assessing whether we need a repair. Cost for Ken's services: $100. It is rare to find a person like Ken. I don't ever want to use anyone else again for anything that requires an electrician. He's competent, efficient, and honest. read more

I found the best electrician by using Yelp. My home in Pocatello was built in 1951 and I was concerned about the wiring, since only a few outlets were grounded. So I searched on Yelp.com and found Anthem Electric right here in my town. When I called the number, Ken answered within a few rings. After explaining my situation, Ken scheduled to come to my home in just two days. Ken also sent me a text to confirm my appointment and showed up right on time. Good communication and promptness are important to any business. Ken inspected my main electrical panel and eight outlets I had in question. Since these were not grounded and were on the same circuit, he replaced the breaker with a GFCI breaker he had in his truck. This gave me peace of mind. The price for his time and GFCI breaker was more than fair, so I asked if he could come back and ground two more outlets in another room. Again his price was very fair and I was pleased with the quality of his work. We are having both of our bathrooms remodeled soon and I let my contractor know I wanted Ken to do all the wiring. Ken is both personable and professional. As long as he's available, I will never use another electrician. read more

I have an amazing, old home from the 20's....along with that....old wiring outside. Ken was super helpful, responsive, and communicated clearly with us. We gave him our thoughts and what we were looking to do and needed (have to power livestock heaters in the winter and I already killed one outlet outside! lol) and he gave his professional feedback on how it should be approached. I contacted Ken regarding a tripped circuit in our home while we were using the cooktop and microwave. I was worried we would need to put in a new circuit, which would cost thousands of dollars. A few other companies had told me that was the only option... Ken and his son Caleb came to our home to diagnose the issue and within an hour of testing the load of the circuit, Ken recommended replacing the current 50 amp breaker with 60 amp breaker to see how it would perform. We needed Ken to replace some wiring behind a wall that got severed and burned out when we tried to install a TV wall mount. Long story, we shorted out the power to a few of the rooms in our house. I was very happy with Anthem Electric. Ken converted 15 of my 4-pin fluorescent can light fixtures to LED. I found him to be very responsive to my requests, primarily via text message, he showed up promptly as scheduled, did the job efficiently and left work areas clean when finished (protected areas with drop cloths when needed), was professional and courteous, and had very competitive pricing (less than half what another provider quoted me). He also followed up after the job to make sure I was satisfied. Also, when I changed my mind about a fixture after he installed it, he offered to redo it at no charge even though it was my choice and not a problem with his work. This is a one man shop, and you aren't paying higher prices for an answering service or an army of random electricians. You get Ken when you schedule an appointment. You get Ken when you call or make a request. If he's on another job he will generally get back to you promptly, but not always the second you call. I never had to wait long for a response and would rather have competitive pricing and reliable, quality work. I have more jobs coming up and I will call Anthem Electric to do the work. read more

I was all set up to have Anthem Electric rewire my entire house, when at the last minute, they bailed on me. I believe they bailed on me when I questioned them about their contract stating that the deposit would be 50% of the total price of the quote. The law states that the deposit must be 10% of the total price of the job or $1,000, whichever is less. They were asking me for a deposit of over $5,700. Ken also informed me that he has his son come and help from time to time, but his son is not covered under Anthem Electric's insurance which is also not ok. Ken and his wife seem like nice people, but what they're doing is definitely illegal. Consumers need to be aware of this and protect themselves accordingly. read more

Needed a NEMA 14-50 box installed on each side of the garage for a Tesla. Ken from Anthem Electric did a great job with a nice clean installation. He connected the main panel into one box and routed the conduit for the other box over the garage ceiling with masterful conforming pipe bends (see the photos). I learned about Ken and Anthem Electrical through Yelp and Google Reviews. I had Ken install 20 recessed ceiling lights in my home in Poway. I can describe Ken in two words, "Totally Legit". Ken arrived on time and finished the job in one day as he promised. Watching Ken work, I could tell right away he was a perfectionist and a true professional. His price was very fair and his attitude was refreshing. In addition to installing those lights I asked Ken to give me a price on fixing a circuit problem in my kitchen where every time all the lights and microwave were on at the same time the circuit would break and I would have to go to the electrical panel to turn the switch back on. Other electricians had previously said I needed to rewire the kitchen at a cost of about $2,000. Ken suggested that I simply upgrade my kitchen lighting to LED which would lessen the electrical load. It worked! After replacing the old lighting with LED at a nominal cost of about $150 the problem went away.
